  • i need some advice i see your left handed so you may be able to help with my situation i fixed my plant i now jump off of the left side of the pole instead of the right when i jump i fly alot to the left almost off of the pit, how can fix that

  • 8ft is great for a new vaulter. A lot of what goes into being able to get your legs up higher is in your take-off and ability to push the pole away from you after you are off the ground. It is tough to explain in writing. One drill that has helped athletes I've worked with is putting a bar or bungee up high, like 10' or 11' for you and trying to kick it with your feet. It helps give you a visual aid and goal for you vault. Keep up the hard work.

  • my coach says that my problem is that i don't get my legs up high enough. i can clear 8 but want to go higher. any suggestions?

  • i am new at pole vaulting and was wondering if besides practicing form and stuff would doing abs and puch ups help strengthen u to go higher

  • Yes, abs and push ups will help build your strength which is great. Any gymnastics exercises are also important for both strength and body awareness. Working on sprint form to get faster is crucial for improving in the vault along with PV technique.
