I usually DM, so my favourite character was my brother's; a 4ft8 500lb human monk called Brother Bruno who would threaten people with the Quivering Palm despite the fact that he was only on Lvl1.

He seriously thought he could do it, he just didn't read the rules properly.

My players are usually so arrogant it's a milestone if we ever get out of the basetown.
