The world's population is rapidly growing, children are starving, resources being consumed. There will be a world war over resources this century unless a massive change in human mentality. And we are supposed to be concerned about some random people that have given up and want exit this world? They're self darwinizing, let them go. Bye.
This is the worst thing you could ever do to your family and friends. Killing yourself screws up everyone who has ever known you, and they will never be the same. If someone I loved killed themselves, I wouldn't even cry because I would no longer love them because he/she obviously didn't care about me. You'd have to be one selfish fuck to do it in the first place
Funny how you lecture about people who commit sucide as "selfish" but make it all about yourself and why people should live for others and disregard their own feelings.
It is far more selfish to demand someone should live for the feelings of others and not give any consideration to theirs.
It's so sad how people think they aren't worth enough so they have to do this. It really breaks my heart. It's as simple as smiling at someone on the street. And we can't even do that...
Hey asshole, do you realize the filmakers DID call 911 every time they spotted jumpers or suspected them, and saved around 6 lives that way. But unless you think they can turn into Superman and fly up to catch falling jumpers, you have to realize help couldn't be called for everyone in time.
The film brought attention to a much-ignored issue of sucide on the bridge. The filmmakers did what no one else bothered to do.
These people are filming suicides. They are putting entertainment before peoples lives, instead of pushing the record button, why don't they call for help?
Why don't you do some research before running your stupid mouth?

The guy tells her he doesn't want to be alone and then she goes on to say she thought he needed his space. Liar !!! And then to give her meds to him. "He's not depressed-he wants to kill himself". And then he tells her "I want to kill himself". What the FUCK!!!
ive never been but it does seems amazing there. ive always dreamed of floating in a hot air balloon and jumping from there. i even have a hot air balloon tattoo.
there's a lot of stupid ppl here commenting...i am talking abt the heartless...NO BODY deserves suicide...those ppl feel that they are a burden to society...they feel they have no one and feel alone...they feel that this is the only way out...I feel for these ppl and I hope to God that He is taking care of them...i wish I was there to help these ppl and lend them a friendly helping hand.
I've been in that situation...Last year I attempted suicide but survived...The moment before you take that decision it is a weird sensation, because for the first time in a long time I felt like I had control over my destiny...It was as if I had become immune to pain and regret...peaceful surrender...
I don't see the point of trying to save them. If they want to leave conscious existence, it is their choice and right. They have to the right to end themselves in their current form as much as we have the right to live in ours. Very simple concept.
@EnglishSteel2347 Most of these people are not well mentally, suffer from treatable depression, are temporarily not in their full capacity to make good decisions because of circumstances, etc. Most prevented suicides end with the potential victim expressing great gratitude for being saved. Some may make the choice to die in full possession of their faculties (terminally ill for example), but these are a minority. And still, don't fucking go jump off a public bridge, that's stupid.
@EnglishSteel2347 The thing is, they dont want to die, they want to get away from their problems so suicide they think its the only choice for them. When people kill themselves i bet they regret it. They see how many people cry over them, their family can't sleep at night thinking its their fault.
@EnglishSteel2347 Well think of it this way. If that was your mom, dad, son, daughter spouse, or anyone you care about and you were there next to them would you let them jump or try to save their life? Those people have other people that care about them and it would hurt them as well.. Even if they don't have anyone that loves them life is precious and every single one should be cherished.
But standing right next to somebody who is about to end his own life is a whole different and much more disturbing thing to do, at least for people who have a conscience. If i was witnessing a suicide attempt and if i was left with a feeling that i could have and should have done more to save that person whoever it was, i know i would have difficulties sleeping at night for a long time...so its not that simple
@EnglishSteel2347: Did you watch the entire movie, including the segment on the person who halfway down decided he did want to die after all? Maybe some of the others who successfully killed themselves that year had similar thoughts while falling, but at that point it was too late. The point in "trying to save them" is that almost all of them are suffering from depression, which is a disease that can often be cured. Suicide is a permanent solution to what is oftentimes a temporary problem.
@eastdragon42 Ops, I typed that so fast I meant to say "decided he did NOT want to die after all" (I think I was thinking "decided he did want to LIVE after all"...)
A guy from my middle school jumped of the bridge several years ago and I just heard about it this January. I don't know what else to say, I hope his life is better now than when he left it.
@castingtherunes...I think you should talk to someone. You are not the only person who is affected if you're to end your life. Please don't do it. Not just for the sake of others, but for yourself. Seek help.
@castingtherunes You posted this a week ago and you're still here. That's a good thing. Life isn't easy, no one said it would be. No one can make you happy but you. You have that control. They did help. They called 911 whenever they spotted jumpers (and saved around 6 lives this way) but help couldn't get there in time for everyone. What more do you expect them to do?
All the people commenting on here about how they want to commit suicide what do you want us to do? Tell you not to? If you really wanted to do it you would, not come on youtube for a pity party. @cloesworld What pity party? Are you that ignorant seriously these people are actually hurting badly inside stop with your pathetic comments.I don't see it as people wanting attention they just want serious help and a voice to hear them.I find your comments as seriously uneducated and totally ignorant.
@cloesworld But that's just it. If you watch the actual movie (available for viewing on YouTube), you'll hear interviews with friends and families of those who did jump. The person who is contemplating suicide is seeking help...and it's not necessarily in the form of getting answers or wanting pity. They need comfort and understanding...but most of all help. Many of these people have severe cases of depression/emotional/psychological problems. Do not judge things you don't understand.
Shouldn't the film maker want to help these people and not EXPLOIT them? How can you let things like this happen without trying to help the person? Insane.
Ugh, do soem research before running your mouth. The maker of this film is a suicide survivor. He wanted to bring attention to these people and suicides off the bridge by telling their stories. FYI, the film crew did call 911 every time they saw or suspected a jumper and saved about six lives this way. But help couldn't arrive in time for everyone - or do you expect the film crew to turn into Superman and fly up to catch them?
@gilvalverdegvd3 people like you slow down the internet with comments like that cause i been never wasnt free to be here in that bridge in the somehow you know?
@OFFENDOR Yes, but that doesnt come to mind when you're a manic depressed person. its hard to explain. you need to feel it to know why nothing else matters ..
@walid562 for 1. The water is over 50 feet deep 2. theres a current that pulls you under and 3. people die on impact. It's not hard to put two and two together.
@walid562 they hit the water at full speed and the inpact knocks the life right outa ya...i no wat u mean though. it dosent seem that could happen but it does....
I suffer from depression and I might do this if I had the chance, but it seemed to me somehow weird that every person that gives testimony in this movie talks about every jumper as "he's found relief now" , "they jumped to their deaths", or something like that. Not that I expect a moral lesson about suicide, I just found it odd. It is a really sad documentary and you keep thinking about it after watching it... a lot.
depression is a fucking hard illness to live with. great documentary.. i watch it whenever i think im on the brink of suicide, it helps me to pick myself up
@crythisbloodforme You are in this world to live. Not to please people, not to prove anything to anyone. You ARE loved and you DO deserve to be happy, and you CAN be happy. These people never got to know true happiness because they didn't give it a chance. You should be your number one priority. Never put yourself last. Our only purpose is to be happy and never waste a second of Life. Suicide will NEVER be the answer. Get to know yourself and please YOURSELF. You'll make it. I know you will. :)
@HelenaNV That's really optimistic. It seems like you've never been at a spot where you *knew* life is without purpose, that life is nothingness distilled, that existence is random and you are just a piece of random atoms floating around in an endless meaningless nothingness. When you reach that point, suicide suddenly seems... beautiful. Love and being loved is irrelevant, it's nothing, it means nothing and has no bearing on our meaningless existence. This notion drives people into suicide, see
@TheNessus See... I think about that EVERYDAY. It haunts me. It's precisely that which makes me think that the only reason for which we exist is to... exist. Our life may have little purpose, but our precocious death has even less purpose. You don't randomly pop up out of nothing to go back to not existing. You know what I mean? The Universe, existence, is a never ending progress. It expands and never goes back to what it was. I think OUR existence is exactly like that. It should be, at least.
@TheNessus And since we do exist, why not make the best out of it? We come to this world alone and we leave it alone. Our happiness should be what we seek first. A true feeling of well being. Not just BEING.
I know that not every person that commits suicide is driven by the notion of feeling irrelevant. For some, it might just be because they don't feel loved. Or just feel alone. Or never really experienced a state of complete bliss and happiness. That's why I always encourage that, though we
@rakimthegod1 I guess I can't understand because i've never been depressed but It just seems crazy that Life now is easier then it has ever been and people kill themselves. 200 years ago life was shit , you had to fight really hard to stay alive. We have so much now yet theres more depression then there has ever been. Maybe its because we have to much time on our hands. Or maybe were so youst to struggle that when we don;t have it something doesn't feel right.
@JG129 You simply stated it that you've never been depressed so don't know what it's like,I have five different conditions and live through hell each day.Depression existed years ago just like today its just that today its more publicised through the net,tv,news etc.
@JG129 You simply stated it that you've never been depressed so don't know what it's like,I have five different conditions and live through hell each day.Depression existed years ago just like today its just that today its more publicised through the net,tv,news etc.
Some people just feel so enslaved by their physical/mental constraints that they commit suicide, just so they can feel that sense of freedom and control of their life, even if just for a second...
Some people are discussing whether or not try to intervene someone's suicide attempt. In the documentary they interview a guy who jump off and managed to survive. The guy said as soon as he let go and was falling he regretted jumping and wanted to live.
I think that goes to show there is at least the chance they will be glad you did something.
@kaine180 I'm an Irish man and I feel only repulsion at that particular users comment. Don't generalise so hastily. We may have our fair share of idiots and emotional cripples but so does every country.
What do you want them to do, turn into Superman and fly up to catch them?
This footage was obtained by a film crew that set up at the base of the bridge to document suicide jumpers. The called 911 every time the spotted a jumper, but there really wasn't anything more they could do.
@loner1878 Actually I don't think it was to document suicides, not originally at least. It was just to film the bridge, but then they realized the amount of people that jumped off, and so they turned it into a documentary.
Uh no, the creator of the film intended to document suicides from the start (I saw an interview with him). The bridge was already a well-known spot for suicides.
@himynamelscolin Would you risk your life over a suicidal person? Who knows if the person might carry you down with them. It's easy for you to say right now, but this is reality, life or death situations.
@freakingquimbis who asked for life? you're going on the assumption that everyone values it as much as you do. life doesn't hold many pleasure for a lot of people and they'd rather not participate in it.
i value life but depending on what is happening with my physicality and psychology in the future, i absolutely intend being the one to choose my exit strategy....as soon as i've had enough then it's bye bye... i'm not hanging around to drool and have my adult diapers changed by strangers....
@lebartonne it depends on how you look at life. Of you think negative you will get negativity in some way or another. You think positive you will get positive. There is literally no situation at all that can't be made positive. You don't want to be a piece of crap when your older? Then don't be? It's that easy.
I can understand that when you feel like you have no control, there is still one thing that you have some control over, and it probably feels empowering. If only for the final moments of your life.
i saw this documentary. fantastic.. although it's not for everybody. i have a fascination with suicide.. one film that will stay with me.. and i think about often. if anyone knows the song/music send me a message. i think it's a composition by Alex Heffes.. just my thoughts. thanks
@XxgrowthxspirtxX I know right! I watched this movie just a couple of weeks ago and the images and stories of these people will not leave. If you've never been on this bridge, you have no idea of the amount of courage it takes to climb over the rail and let go....
@Zlarfin3 The crew had twenty-four hour surveillance on their videos, and had bridge patrol on speed dial. If anyone even paused too long at the edge, they had their phones out ready to call.
@ oliverdking
I agree with you, but they're leaving this physical consciousness, where they exit next is subject to many debates and nobody is proven right.

I don't understand they are jumping in the water how could they die? how is this suicide?
walid562 8 months ago
@walid562 for 1. The water is over 50 feet deep 2. theres a current that pulls you under and 3. people die on impact. It's not hard to put two and two together.
PinkRoxyChick01 8 months ago 2
@walid562 they hit the water at full speed and the inpact knocks the life right outa ya...i no wat u mean though. it dosent seem that could happen but it does....
lauriemama 7 months ago
@walid562
Oh please. You think you could fall from that height and be unharmed? Sheesh...
Hitting the water surface at that speed from that height is like hitting concrete. You can die two ways:
1) You break your neck on impact and die right there and then
or
2) You break your neck or back or skull but are paralyzed, you sink to the bottom and drown. You may or may not be unconscious.
Also, your inner organs can easily rupture from the impact of the fall and you bleed out.

It is a really sad documentary and you keep thinking about it after watching it... a lot.
ctrlz77 8 months ago
depression is a fucking hard illness to live with. great documentary.. i watch it whenever i think im on the brink of suicide, it helps me to pick myself up
crythisbloodforme 8 months ago
@crythisbloodforme You are in this world to live. Not to please people, not to prove anything to anyone. You ARE loved and you DO deserve to be happy, and you CAN be happy. These people never got to know true happiness because they didn't give it a chance. You should be your number one priority. Never put yourself last. Our only purpose is to be happy and never waste a second of Life. Suicide will NEVER be the answer. Get to know yourself and please YOURSELF. You'll make it. I know you will. :)
HelenaNV 7 months ago
@HelenaNV That's really optimistic. It seems like you've never been at a spot where you *knew* life is without purpose, that life is nothingness distilled, that existence is random and you are just a piece of random atoms floating around in an endless meaningless nothingness. When you reach that point, suicide suddenly seems... beautiful. Love and being loved is irrelevant, it's nothing, it means nothing and has no bearing on our meaningless existence. This notion drives people into suicide, see
TheNessus 7 months ago
@TheNessus See... I think about that EVERYDAY. It haunts me. It's precisely that which makes me think that the only reason for which we exist is to... exist. Our life may have little purpose, but our precocious death has even less purpose. You don't randomly pop up out of nothing to go back to not existing. You know what I mean? The Universe, existence, is a never ending progress. It expands and never goes back to what it was. I think OUR existence is exactly like that. It should be, at least.
HelenaNV 7 months ago
@TheNessus And since we do exist, why not make the best out of it? We come to this world alone and we leave it alone. Our happiness should be what we seek first. A true feeling of well being. Not just BEING.
I know that not every person that commits suicide is driven by the notion of feeling irrelevant. For some, it might just be because they don't feel loved. Or just feel alone. Or never really experienced a state of complete bliss and happiness. That's why I always encourage that, though we
HelenaNV 7 months ago
@TheNessus are, indeed, alone and that we will be so until we die, we CAN be loved and happy. I say it because it's true, and a comforting thought.

Some people just feel so enslaved by their physical/mental constraints that they commit suicide, just so they can feel that sense of freedom and control of their life, even if just for a second...
Trunkos45 9 months ago 5
Some people are discussing whether or not try to intervene someone's suicide attempt. In the documentary they interview a guy who jump off and managed to survive. The guy said as soon as he let go and was falling he regretted jumping and wanted to live.
I think that goes to show there is at least the chance they will be glad you did something.

What do you want them to do, turn into Superman and fly up to catch them?
This footage was obtained by a film crew that set up at the base of the bridge to document suicide jumpers. The called 911 every time the spotted a jumper, but there really wasn't anything more they could do.
loner1878 10 months ago
@loner1878 Actually I don't think it was to document suicides, not originally at least. It was just to film the bridge, but then they realized the amount of people that jumped off, and so they turned it into a documentary.
Radomid 9 months ago
@Radomid

People who kill themselves are ungrateful for what they have. There is never a lack of something to be grateful for. No matter how bad life gets
freakingquimbis 10 months ago
