  • fuck - what a cool tune... that rhythm - damn! - what a find... and I don't even know how I got here! Oh yeah, it was via classic blues tunes by Leadbelly etc...

  • I like Ike and Tina and Nina Simone's takes on this song. The funky drums and percussions are insane on this one and I love Tina's voice, along with the badass bass that accompanies her. I love both versions. I do.

  • This song is bad. The second it starts your ass starts to moves. Nice!

  • This song is pure hype. It sends this indescribable feeling that makes you want to dance so bad. Doing homework with this on is NOT a good idea. The break on here is ridiculous.

  • Thank you Nina, you say it and the rhythm sets my spine sidewinder.

  • FUCKKKKKKKKKK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ahh the sounds of Mama Africa!

  • dedicated to all the dirty dirty ol' men in my life

  • The song was originally created by Aileen Bullock, Ana Mae Bullock famously known as Tina Turner's sister. I suspect that the song was written to describe Ike Turner.

  • This is so cool! Does anyone know the name of the album and the year of the release please?

  • the name of the album is....it is finished! it came out in 1974.the original album cover is in this video!!!!

  • Always Meravigliosa!

  • anyone know who the drummer is on this track? Sounds like it could be Bernard Purdie...

  • BAM!

  • i cant keep my big toe still! respect!

  • Goosebumps.

  • What does " Mosquito's tweeter " means ? °°

  • its the little nose on a mosquito but more so it is just an expression used to exemplify the person in question for all of their negative qualities.

  • Classic....but funky vibe...Gotta love it!

  • Love this version.

    Great song to break to.

  • Diooos que voooooooooz

  • she was so talented ... she could sing somthing as heart felt as wild is wind or lilac wine .. then flip it on you and get SUPER FUNKY ! ... she is the queen of rhythm !

  • i reallly cant get enough funk

  • I have this on vinyl and it sounds way more FUNKIER!

  • I love Nina.

  • I hear this song differently now. It's like her soul addressing the old worn out mind dominated state of consciousness within her and all of us. The mind struggles to keep up with the soul. I know im reading too much into this powerful song. ...... ok im done now.

  • Funky!

  • BUENISIMO EL TEMA!!!ME ENCANTA QUIERO MÁs!!

  • Tina Turner and her sister wrote this song about Ike Turner in the early 70s. Can you dig it.

  • BADASS!

  • My computer just won't play it loud enough. I need it louder!

  • de lujo me gusta mucho esta rola ¡¡¡¡

  • Very nice...can u imagine hearing this live! Like the previous comment Hypnotic...thanks 4 posting

  • hypnotic!

    Amazing!

  • That rhythm gets under the skin - it itches and hassles like that old mosquito bite she's singing about. Can't help but jiggle with the thrum of it. Great performance!!!

  • tunes....

  • Absolute class....

  • OMG, Fusik - Evolution 3 International!

  • I sat my goddaughter DOWN, and I put this on. Thank you!

  • Can't touch NINA!

Tina is amazing but NINA is in a league of

    her own....

  • The funkiest track ever recorded in my opinion. Makes ya wanna grab a drum and go nuts! I love this side of Nina and the way she sings "aaaaalllllways rapping bout the same old thing" and the BEATS immediately after are supreme!

  • wow i didn't know nina simone did this Tina Turner's sister Alliene wrote it I only though Ike and Tina were the only ones that ever played it

  • anyone heard Nikka Costa's cover???

  • Oh Yeah I really like it!

  • yep bboy styles this track in fact this song is on the ps2 bboy video game

  • I really want that remix on the game :D

  • awesome track !

  • great song.

  • Thanks so much, I love this song!

  • YEEEE that's what im talkin about thx man

  • wow! Fantastic!

  • Sorry, I'm English. What's a Mosquito's Tweeter?

  • Im american, i have no idea either...

  • Tweeter can desribe a sound or a pinch. So in this case, Mosquito's tweeter is a pinch/bite from a mosquito. And "funkier than mosquito's tweeter" means she's describing the man as unpleasant as a mosquito bite.

  • LOL! Thank you.

  • word

  • Damn this song is so mean. Don't mess with Nina :D

  • thats true man! and great song for bboying! :D where are you from?

  • Absolutely AMAZING! From the first second until the very last one.

I'm so blown away, I have to hear it twice.

    We'll miss you Ms. Simone

  • Hell Yes.

  • Bad F*ckin Ass... the live version is even badder....

  • I'm pretty sure after hearing this song that no one would ever have the balls to mess with nina ;)

  • nina's song baddier than a mosquito's tweeter!i fuc**** love it!i love jazz and that funk-da-puss!!

  • nasty song!! perfect to bboying!!!

  • motherfucking badass = nina simone...seriously, she makes Shaft quiver in fear.

  • @poeticjournalism

    GOTDAMN, that's on point!

  • killer track....love playing this one out......

  • when i first heard this i didn't know it was Simone and thought it was a bloke with a funny voice singing, no offence of course cause I hadn't known of Nina until then I love her voice and this song

  • ..mm. sweet tunes

  • fuck ike and his turner.

  • i see where nikka costa got her licks on this one

  • yo this was on Moon Patrol's Toprock performance.

  • nina did a great job...as usual

  • please refute that statement....i seriuosly think that you need to refute that statement...no way is ike & tina better...

  • its not about which version was better.. if u dont have any other arguments except" was a lot better" then shut the hell up ;P

    pz

  • You wanted me to "refute that statement" without offering any reasons apart from your own view its superior.

Tina Turner's voice is much more suited to this song and complented by Ike's base guitar.

  • anyway, the drum break in Nina's version is just simply awesome ;)

  • @WERTY123 You're kidding right? In Tina's recording its so poppy and overdone the song itself is overlooked.

"Tina Turner's voice is much more suited for this song". Yeah Turner has excellent vocal clarity but her version sounds too upbeat and fun. That's obviously not what Nina is going for. Tina couldn't capture the funky heartbreaking vocals that Nina gets. If you're into showy Broadway performances, by all means keep listening to Tina Turner, but don't be dis'in on mah Nina Simone.

  • WERTY123 you have missed the point of Nina's version and indeed music at the time altogether: in the 70s there were many black artists (soul, jazz, blues, etc) that would make a great record; other artists would do not just a simple "cover version" but their own unique take of the original, expanding the original music and lyric to a newer dimension, just as Nina has eloquently executed here. And remember that Ike & Tina did many hot versions of others songs, too, even scoring hits with them.

  • lol i agree

  • Bboy trickx (toprock), from korea.

  • Ohh shit played this track in Boty 2003 project korea vs Vagabonds!

  • wow! Fantastic!

  • where can i find the songtekst??

  • FUNKEEEEE!!!!!

  • my dad wants me to learn this song

  • You should learn it, this song is the illest!!

  • this song its amazing nina's voice its amazing

  • WAOUH...... Je deviens folle avec cette chanson!

  • That line "always rapping bout the same old thang" would be a good sample. But, since all the rappers rap about the same thing I guess no one would use it. This song is slammin'

  • so, so true.

if i make it in the world... i WILL sample it && break you off a piece!!

    hahaha.

  • oh definitely... I thought the same thing the first time I heard this

    Awesome song

  • haha How true that is!!

  • i don't think the message of this song will ever be irrelevant.

  • ah this song is amazing.

  • dammmmmmmm.. just wanna 'break'on it :D

  • This song was written by Tina Turner's sister, Aileen Bullock Selico
