It's just the old confrontation between central planning and allowing the people to spend their money. Among other things, the U.S.S.R. and other communist lands have shown how central planning just doesn't work. It's too bad too many Democrats in Congress haven't figured that out yet.
If it weren't for the extra writeoffs and deductibles that the rich are entitled to that middle class American's are NOT entitled to, I would actually support the tax cuts. But the way the tax cuts were set up only helped the rich and in fact contributed to the $4.9 trillion that Bush added to our nation's deficit. And then came Obama's extension...CHANGE you can count on!
Why do conservatives feel like yelling unsubstantiated claims really loud automatically makes them true? Since when did highways, education, bridges, military, health care for the elderly, NASA, etc., etc. constitute 100% waste? Sure there's probably some waste, but 100%? like he's shouting. What's really wasteful: some billionaire taking their tax brake and investing it in China or India because that's where the return is highest right now.
there is also 100% chance that gov't employees will get paid. why is it that gov't employees getting paid is different the private one in your book im not sure.
also im pretty sure that the Ferrari that the billioner is buying puts very few Americans to work and does even less for the US economy.
@Crazylalalalala because the government doesn't make money, it confiscates money. the less people are working for the government, the more work in the private sector, the healthier the economy.
and yes, it does do stuff for the american economy. someone has to manufacture the parts, build it, upholster it, make the gps, paint the car. someone else has to sell it. someone has to service it. someone has to run the gas station the billionaire goes to. and it's not one ferrari, it's thousands
thousands of ferraris, who were painted, upholstered, built, made the parts.... in Italy by Italians. sure someone had to pull it off the boat and drive it to the dealer. but considering the cost of the ferrari that is pocket change and a negligible benefit to the country.
in the current economic market less people working for the government also means more people collecting unemployment. more unemployment is not healthy to any aspect of life.
@DRsideburns Yeah, those housing and financial sectors were really healthy for the economy. Which leads to my theory - why so much right-wing political activity right now: the economy proved them wrong and they're scared people will do the rational thing and support more regulation and government provision of goods and services.
@Crazylalalalala Good point. I don't think the Ferrari would do much for the US economy and neither would all their investments into India and China - the market says the highest return to investment is there, so that's where we should invest according to the market. Nice how that works, isn't it? - that is, nice for the people that have the money to invest. The rest of us can go get fucked I guess.
yes the high returns are in growing markets such as India, China, Brazil. unfortunately as you said that is only good for people who invest their money, the top notch of big business and stock holders but terrible for anyone else. people like factory workers will get fucked but only if they move the factories to those nations (which they do). the US can be comparative over seas with products made in the US but maximum profits will be yielded by outsourcing the work so it wont happen.
Bob is absolutely right!!! Having worked for the gvt for 30 years as an Accountant, I have to say that the fraud, waste and abuse is so rampid. And, sadly, it's in just about every gvt organization. In fact, I only wish that I had one drop of the millions of $ that the gvt simply writes off every year. And then the dems have the audacity to say they want to tax the American ppl more, while all they will do is waste it...ugh!
Instead of getting rid of the incentive to give to charity, they should be cutting entitlements and cutting back federal funding of crap we don't need. Leave charity to the private sector and cut costs where it will actually make a difference in our national debt. Taking away the tax cut for charitable giving isn't going to help ANYONE.
I would like to point out that those people who supposedly make 250K a year don't necessarily clear that much after taxes: Small businesses are the foundation of this country and the Obama administration is screwing them over sideways. The real million and billionaires are the people in high government positions, getting paid to support the destruction of America as we know it. Capitalism doesn't work if the government is too big to be kept in check.
god what do you stupid fucking people dont understand? MORE MONEY IN THE "PEOPLES POCKETS" THE BETTER THE ECONOMY IS! Why do people think the other way around? more money for big businessmen? yeah cuz giving them money so far has helped us right??? right?? FUCKING GET THRU YOUR STUBBORN HEADS. PEOPLE make the economy go round, NOT THE RICH, Sure the rich make the jobs yes we know this. but have they been? no. so what we need to do is double back and "bailout" the people. NOT WALLSTREET IGNORAMUS
LOL, this guy doesn't even bother to explain the tax situation, he's just completely bias toward repub beliefs. Its simple, dems want higher taxes toward anyone as a individual that makes more than 250k a year. Guess how many Americans fit that criteria? 3%...only 3% of Americans, who most are millionaires that can afford the tax increase, get taxes raised increasing revenue. Middle class and lower (97%) all get tax cuts. Repubs want tax cuts to everyone, as a way to somehow increase revenue?
I think you're confused. It was Bush and his republican congress that increased the size of govt by 27%, increasing our national debt by trillions of dollars. At the same time he decreased govt. revenue by cutting taxes for billionaires and multinational corporations. Reagan raised taxes 3 times, Bush Sr. raised taxes. Saying it's the Dems who raise taxes is disingenuous at best. Hedge Fund gamblers earn the same in one hour as a middle-class household makes In over 47 years. You support that?
George Bush was a fiscal LIBERAL, and there is no hiding that. And why should the pockets of the wealthy and corporations be a copout for government to dip their hands into whenever they need a quick buck? How about some fiscal responsibility? Bush racked up about $2.5 trillion in debt in his administration (which DID include democrat congress), but Obama's budget is projected to bring us about $5 trillion more in debt, almost TWICE as much as Bush's deficit. That's the "change" he promised...
@OddRobb You do realize we're nearly $15 trillion in debt, right? We owe that money. How do you propose we pay it back? Taking grandma's health insurance away? Changing the retirement age to 69? Did you support GE getting over $3 billion back from the American taxpayers last year? Isn't that the very definition of corporate welfare and socialism? And Bush racked up $2.5 trillion in debt? Don't make me laugh. Who do you listen to? Fox News? Limbaugh? Beck? Of course! Edumucate yourself Robb.
Do some research. I don't even have cable tv so don't play that old "fox news" card on me to just disregard my point... Corporations already pay taxes through the people they employ. Taxing corporations takes money from the workers AND the business, discouraging higher production and employment. Therefore, people have less money, less healthcare and less jobs, so that means THE GOVERNMENT has to help them out through Obamacare, unemployment checks etc. etc...That's why were in debt!
@OddRobb stop drinking the koolade, we are in debt due to rampant corruption! Read your Constitution, know the facts, any law or code that infringes our consititutional rights is illegal, yet sheeple like you roll over and believe any B.S. that they feed you. Enjoy the FEMA camp!
Okay once you get over that meaningless koolaid/sheeple business, provide me with a real argument with facts to support it. Otherwise you opinions hold no weight with me.
@OddRobb GE paid 400 million dollars to lobbyists and tax lawyers to avoid paying taxes for 2010. They made billions of dollars in profits in the United States and owe nothing? And GE is not alone. You can continue to waste time being insulted or you can wake up and realize the puppet masters are playing you. Weather you care about my opinion or not, I am just trying to help as many people as I can. Read the Constitution, you might just learn something. Best of luck..God Bless the Resistance!!!
What IS your point? If govt wasn't trying to TAX THEM, they wouldn't NEED to pay for lobbyist and tax lawyers to go to DC to defend themselves! The reason GE lobbied to the government in the first place is only because of YOU. Now tell me what is so bad about profits? Profits prevent the misallocation of resources in our economy. Profits signal to producers of goods and services what the economy needs most at the time. Why should companies be penalized for helping the economy?

@OddRobb The president doesnt run the country dude. We havent had a real president since John F. Kennedy. literal we vote and elected a president. Every president after him was a fallguy. o and by the way i dont know if you knew. but george bush's father was one of the PRIME conspirators in the murder and conspiracy to the murder of JFK. We dont need anymore presidents. We need a miracle.
@OddRobb If you can't understand basic economics, then you wont understand why debt increased faster under Obama.
Bush inherited a SURPLUS, Obama didn't. Example: If I have 2 kids, and I give one 20k cash to start life after college, & the other I give 10k in credit card debt, guess whose debt will climb faster simply because of interest on that debt?
Fundamentally I agree with Bob that conservatives are for a smaller government. But Bush was a joke. I support Ron Paul.
@MrWhitey101 No, you don't understand recent history.
There were TWO recessions under Bush, one after the dot-com bubble burst and the other recession after real-estate market collapsed. Basic economics less for you: in recessions, governments get less revenue. Now your analogy completely falls apart. Yes, Bush increased the deficit, but Obama has added a whopping $6.5 trillion to the debt, mostly thanks to obamacare and stimulus spending.
for that shot. Complication is just that. The USC is only 15 pages & in plain English, where as the the HCB is 3000. Why? WTH is it that complicated to know what is right, wrong, or even fair? A HS education should be enough for you to live an honest decent life. A collage ed, should help you to do better than that. You don't need a collage ed, to succeed here, all you need is an idea. How did we get here if it weren't for entrepreneurship? We are choking on regs & taxes.
BOB is an uneducated pieca shit that over simplifies the complexities of the modern world. The internet has made it possible for us to have access to highly sophisticated data but then,it also vests enormous responsibility on us not to interpret it like a mountain goat.He throws real data at you,but then his interpretation is daft, unimaginative and often (Correction - "always") STU fuckin PID.And he thinks by yelling,he changes the destiny of a poor statement. His ideas make his temper unbearable.
@hashpuppy101 You really want things to be complicated? If every working person knew law like a lawyer does, how much time money & resources would be saved? Why does everything have to be so complicated? The green BS for exple, If the cost of an elec car is out of reach of a. That's right, you want me to move from my house & move into the city so I can take the bus. Essentially to control me. The pursuit of happiness is not guaranteed, it's just a shot at it & people come to this country^
Democratic Govts. in the world owe it to their people to invest wisely.failure to do so does not mean you do away with a taxation system which btw is the back bone of any civil country.it only means societies aren't putting up their best people forward.what this guys is saying is akin to plugging your heart right out coz it had a clog.
@joeratti :you fuckin pieca shit. if u think this is the voice of the "civil society" in your country, then god bless your country. you stupid goat, no matter how much you insult my religion and my roots, i will not stoop down to that level.hailing from the country of Gandhi,we've dealt with frivolous elements like you and your fuckin kind, with really not saying much back.now,go and wank off seeing more hate vids.afterall, pompous trash like you must be in bed with similar miscreants.fuckin goat.
@joeratti :U silly goat.Calling him a red neck is so not the same as taking the piss of your faith you pieca worthless trash.Ur beyond recycling. Why is the world here?coz this is the internet you goat.n i hate to be the one to break it to ya,welcome to a democratic world order.everyone here has an opinion.if u cant handle a multitude of views, wtf are you doin here man?You cant put up a vid on the internet and expect people to keep their mouth shut.its not gonna happen.
@hashpuppy101 oh and you dont even live in america so shut the fuck up. why the hell is the rest of the world trying to tell america how to run itself
@joeratti :for the same reasons why america stands up for liberty in the ROW.for the same reasons that your nation goes to protect innocents in the middle east who BTW are innocent muslims and then stupid wankers like you and this fuckin illiterate cunt questions all of those reasons.Your founding fathers had great wisdom. And then when I look at your filthy and irresponsible comments,Im not exactly disappointed!& I cant dispute the way you put the majority decent americans to pale shame.U CUNT!
It surprises me that everyone who defends tax cuts for people who make more $250k argue from the multiplier effect, when in fact, we can calculate the multiplier effect for tax cuts to the wealthy, and it is less than .3, whereas the various spending programs on the poorer people have multiplier effects that always range greater than 1. It makes better economic sense to give money to the poor because they spend all of it right away. It also makes better humanitarian sense, because they need help
@loveofphysics :True this. But there is a flip side. Its a one way ticket. If you ever have compelling reasons in future to cut back (and we know this has happened in the past),then youre making them vulnerable to high cost borrowing. The only way to deal with poverty is to give them confidence that they belong to a system and incentivize climb up socio economic ladder.free stuff makes them feel that their entitle to it and Im not sure if that is accurate.
@LazdinsE Medicare isn't infrastructure. Infrastructure is post offices and roads. But when the government starts spending money on health insurance, retirement, abortion clinics, welfare and all the other crap that is meant to take decision making out of the hands of the individual, that is when the government starts wasting money. And that's what the government spends most of our money on.
He'll create a Job in China with his tax cut? Man. You should wake up! Your left right BS is obsolete. You sound like my right wing Dad in the 1980's. He was wrong!
Internationalism is NOT Americanism.
Giving tax cuts nowadays to internationalist Co's like Coke, GM etc doesn't employ Americans anymore. You HAVE to wake up! These are now international parasites that drink YOUR BLOOD!
@OzzyPatriot You're a moron. Have you ever taken an economics class? Have your ever sat through one history lesson on the Reagan era? Have you ever heard of the roaring twenties? Ok. Following your logic times have changes and tax cuts don't work anymore. But does that automatically mean things like the great depression, the post WW1 recession and the LBJ recession won't happen when taxes are high? People who don't look at history are doomed to repeat it. Keynesian economic theory doesn't work!
@mynameismatt2010 You've misunderstood. I say NO to tax cuts for INTERNATIONALIST businesses. That includes companies that USE$D to be solely based in America. But are NOT today.
Small, locally OWNED and operated business in America (etc) should get all the Tax relief, since THEY employ local, US citizens... not 'some' Americans and huge numbers of foreigners offshore, while selling their cheap made shit back to Americans at home.
If you don't think THAT is a good idea..then please STFU.
@OzzyPatriot You're the type of person who thinks that everything should be made in the US and companies who outsource are killing the economy aren't you? Look at it this way, everything you buy will cost 3-5 times what it does if it was made in the US. Take the Ipod, made in china but designed and retailed in the US, about $300. The same ipod made in the US would cost 1100 dollars. Now tell me, are you willing to pay that much for an mp3 player? Most people aren't.
@mynameismatt2010 What you're telling me is that we're locked into the ride.
Interdependence (globalism) is great. Self-sufficiency (a country producing everything it needs for itself) is bad.
But mate, here's the problem. It worked for America.
What America is doing now, for the benefit of the few, wont help the average person long term. I HOPE you're an average person, mate. Because only when a smart-ass like you, is in the gutter, will they ever learn to regret taking the easy road.
@OzzyPatriot It's worked for America in the past because in the past America didn't have child labor laws, minimum wage, unions and anti-trust legislation. All of these things that were designed to 'help' the average person in the early 1900's started the outsourcing train, and it's only been gaining speed ever since. I don't blame companies or CEO's for outsourcing. I blame the government for giving such high incentives in favor of oursourcing to domestic companies.
@OzzyPatriot :So whats your point? Are you trying to tell me that a country can possibly produce everything you want? That we go back to a closed economic framework where labor and capital can no longer float? And i thought we had a problem with greed in wall street.Man,your solution is even more strange.
@OzzyPatriot : Are you aware of the position of the USG on WTO?do you have any idea as to how much pressure your country has put on closed economies to open up?Your govt. has pursuaded every major nation to open their economies up.Look at india,we still get a mouthful from your govts. for not being relatively open.Globalization in the modern context is something that developed nations preached. And now, when it doesnt suit you,you cant go back.
Besides that, your country is in trouble not entirely coz of an recession per se.Its also coz of the irresponsible borrowings of your govt.If you knew the wisdom behind spending less, and saving more and getting govts to regulate your banking space, you wouldnt have been in such a big mess at the first place.Economic cycles are normal. You are going to get a correction every decade. But this one is because of meaningless borrowing and spending.and youve dragged the whole world into it.
@rrobjchilds Yes, Reaganomics was an amazing sucess. The misery index under Reagan was cut in half. That was the biggest drop since the end of the Great Depression. And, have you ever heard of the roaring twenties? Yeah, that was cuz Harding cut taxes across the board. The misery index was around 2% by the end of his presidency. You can't compare Bush to either of them though, he was a leftist tool. Keynesian economics doesn't work. It has been prooven hundreds of times. Hayekian economics FTW!
@mynameismatt2010 You could say it was a success during the time that it was implemented. The 70's were rough with Carter as president, and Reagan came through and directed a lot of changes that helped America. Some were his and some had already been in the works with Carter. But Reagan still had some good downfalls that we feel today. Maybe not the upper class, but the middle and lower are feeling it: btw, Bush was a God tool not a leftist.one.
@rrobjchilds What are you talking about? The trickle down theory does work. It works for rich peoples pets. Maybe it will work for humans in near future. lol
@rrobjchilds The government expanded under both those presidents... and that is why it didn't work. You can't cut taxes and keep the government same size much less expand it. Do you not agree that waste is rampant in our government? Put it this way if someone gives you money the chances you are going to waste it is a lot higher. If you work for your money chances are lower you are going to waste it considering you have an idea what it took to get the money.
@rrobjchilds But hey if you like our country being in perpetual war keep calling for higher taxes and bigger government... Our taxes are feeding a monster... Spread democracy? give me a fucking break...
@rrobjchilds Lower taxes alone will do jack shit. It has to go along with monetary reform, stopping these bullshit wars and weening dependents off of their free lunch... You Tube "The Money Masters" or "The Secret of Oz".
@rrobjchilds actual reagan and bush had two totally different economic philosophies. reagan cut spending for everything but the military while bush did the opposite
Yes lower taxes are great - zero would be even better!
But it takes money to pay for the infrastructure that is crumbling all over the US - sewers, water pipes, roads, bridges - little has been upgraded since the '50s. Not to mention the massive US gov't pension & other deficits. Massive amounts of money are wasted - that is the problem. That needs to be redirected plus more taxes are needed to get out of the mess the US has dug itself into over the last 30 years. Good luck with that!
@LakeviewG how do you think the government gets its $? through the citizens, and how do you think the citizens get the $? from their income from their job/career. how do you think they can get that job other than qualifications? if its available. how is it available? if the economy is in good shape. how can it be in good shape? simple, if the taxes are low to where we the people/ private industry, can thrive. once that happens, quantity of tax payers increase
The economy has become a system of proxies that bleeds away our resources, to oil the gears of commerce, to grease the palms of those in power, but not to feed our mutual interests. It is the cause of our greatest inefficiency and ineffectiveness of action.
Investing in one another, to break the chains of rent and mortgage, establishes a baseline to build the infrastructure of unencumbered gardens, allowing us to put that wasted 90% of resources back into community building.
Bob when are you going to wake yourself up?! The Bush tax cuts fucked the middle class and poor over. Ofcourse you won't talk about how bad the GOP is doing. Like how they held our nation hostage until the rich got their tax cuts. Or how the GOP shot down the 9/11 first responder's bill. Until John Stewart made his entire December 16, 2010 show about the issue and even had Mike Huckabee even agree with him. Hell even FOX News agreed that the bill should be the main priority. Do some research.
@mnap128 Do I really need to explain this? One while the rich were paying less taxes, the middle class and poor had to pay full extent of the taxes. Bush claimed with the rich saving money it pass onto us. It never did. No new jobs like Bush said and no bigger pay checks for the workers. We had to pay high taxes along with little money.
@louis1152 Yes you do...I never asked the rich to pass their money down to me nor would I expect it...I especially never asked the Govt to take my money and give it to drug addicts on welfare...most of your tax money is spent on the interest of the national debt...The Govt WILL waste our money like always...the govt CANNOT create jobs...Govt involvement lead to the housing bubble which they are still to this day trying to inflate all the while killing the value of our currency.
@mnap128 Then why did you vote for Bush? The GOP expected with the rich saving money they would invest more in their companies. Such as GMC, they thought with the owner of that company saving money he would expane and create jobs. None of that happened. You can blame the current economy on the GOP.
@louis1152 didn't vote for Bush...he sucked just as bad as this administration and vice versa...There was no difference between the left and right since 04...both parties work for Wall Street
@mronionsalad I usually like drinkingwithbob, but I agree with you here. Democrats are tax and spenders. Republicans are spenders without taxing. Both are bad, for obvious reasons.
"I'd rather take my chances on some random billionaire helping the economy, than relying on the government to do it." welp it's official you're brainwashed. have a nic day
When you give a billionaire a tax cut there is a 50% chance he will spend it??? HOW INSANELY STUPID ARE YOU? You dont become a millionaire by SPENDING... your videos are still a hoot tho!
Wrong again, Bob. Republicans and Democrats only differ superficially on meaningless issues designed to present the illusion of difference - God, guns and gays - to deliberately divide people on non-issues. In reality, they are simply two sides of the same rotten coin. VOTE LIBERTARIAN or shut the hell up. Ever heard any Dem OR Repub talk about ABOLISHING the FED? Or the IRS? NOPE. Or ending these wars? NOPE. Or protecting our borders or deporting illegals? NOPE. Dem = Repub = we lose
Did you seem to forget the last eight years in which Republicans wasted money on entitlements such as Medicare part D or the Iraq War. Repubs aren't any better.
Some people should really consider the deficit. By all means cut spending whereever you can(medicare and our defense budget especially) but that alone is not going to solve the probelm. In order to get the deficit down we are going to need to not only cut spending but we are also going to generate more revenue(this means raising taxes). If we don't the international community could loose faith in the dollar and the economic shitstorm that would ensue would dwarf anything in the last 60 years.
I'm not here to argue Reps vs Dems, all I'm saying is when the Reps cut taxes there is NEVER lower govt spending, they still spend more then their budget allows by hundreds of billions of dollars. Dems tax and still spend hundreds of billions of deficit dollars. In the end the ONLY thing the dems and reps care about is getting reelected. The documentary "I.O.U.S.A" should be mandatory viewing for all Americans. It's on Netflix and probably YT.
I see that the term socialist really gets your goat. I'll try to refrain from using the word as not to distract you from the discussion. Do you like the wars the US wages around the world? Do you like the "security" you get from the US? Where do you think that mentality comes from? Let me tell you, its not the libertarians.
The bottom line is this: Government is inherently wasteful - more so than enterprise. The less we entrust government with, the better...
I'll share something with you. As I child, my family fell on very hard times and ended up on welfare. Meals included powdered milk - bricks of processed cheese - big can's of peanut butter you had to mix the oil into - but we never missed a meal.
We had 2 TV's - one black and white to provide sound, and the other was a garbage picked color TV (had no sound).
Today, welfare is not the bare minimum - its a lifestyle. Today's recipients have little incentive to work...
I dont want anyone to starve, but starvation has historically been the outcome of socialist government - irony?
The US government created many problems for the private sector - it generated the economic bubble, and through collusion of the banks had backed some very bad debt.
Look at job numbers as unemployment compensation runs out - people go and get jobs. Denmark is a prime example of this.
There are more able on welfare, than needy, and the economy only grows when people work.
Is that right? Does your profile really say that you are located in the UK? Tell us about socialism, jag. You seem to have it all figured out over there.
Read my post again - Your responses have lacked content - only consisting of name calling and technical definition of "socialism". If you want to call it "Market Socialism" fine, but I disagree about socialism not being in the US...
Sorry - writing you off.. You're an embarrassment for even youtube, jag. Happy New Year.
No offense, all the billionaires are not worried about creating jobs in America when they cab outsource them overseas, pay people less money and work them all day and still rake in millions in profits. I don't see Bill Gates, Steve Jobs or any of these huge businesses creating jobs, so it better to just continue to give them money and let them sit on it, now that's just stupid. The only way the economy will recover is if the companies stop outsourcing jobs(which they wont do).
And yes, there is a fundamental difference between Dems and the GOP. The Dems didn't hold tax cuts for the middle class hostage, including fucking benefits for 9/11 responders, until tax cuts for their billionaire masters were passed. This was against the will of the American people, over 70% of which DID NOT want these tax cuts for the wealthy renewed.
Don't get me wrong, I ain't no fan of the Dems, but really, who the fuck is the lesser of the two evils?
....really? What happened to Sarah Palin? Michele Bachman? George Bush? Christine O'Donnel? Sharon Angel? Did they just disappear? Combined, these morons have an IQ of -20. And they're some of the biggest faces of the party.
@MegashadX What a narrow minded and simpleton response. George Bush was not an amazing orator but he was no idiot. Sarah Palin, Bachman, O'Donnel, and Angel are all irrelevant. That is, unless if you are as naive to believe everything you see or watch on the media. If you actually think any of those faces are going to become the Republican presidential candidate, then you sir, are an idiot.
You're a moron if you think wealthy billionaires who outsource every job they make to China should get tax cuts at the expense of both the middle class and the deficit. 'cause all you "conservatives" just bitch and moan about how taxes are too high, and how the deficit is too high. Face it, if you want one to go down, one is going to go up.
Bob you don't get it! The tax cuts only affect the rich in a positive. The middle class get the scraps or the negative! Also how come you have yet to talk about the 9/11 Responder's bill? And how your beloved GOP and FOX News are completely against it. Or how the first thing the GOP did when they got house was hold the country hostage until Obama extended the tax cuts.
Bush republicans spend like democrats.... Want a real change? Vote libertarian. People make better decisions for them selves than the government does.
@fargley001 no there's Republicans and Democrats, people in this country are divided enough from the 2, we don't need a 3rd party, we just need to reform both, and kick the left our of this country
The tax cuts were given and 2.4 million jobs were created this year. Roads and factories are built up as we speak. Just all of that stuff is going on over seas. Entire nations are being built up on our dime except ours do to tax cuts for big buisness. And those tax cuts are being used to hide money and create jobs overseas for non Americans.
Yeah....this is exactly what I thought. You want the government to tax less and spend less. Yet, you rant like a fucking moron about how the NYC streets aren't plowed when you want them to be. Idiotic and hypocritical is a tough way to go through life sir.
Breaking News!!!! The so called 'Bush Tax cuts' are now officially the 'Obama Tax cuts'. Let's not forget that! And let's not forget, as of right now, the Dems still have all the power. At least for the next couple of day's.
@Tombstonerocks did you forget obama caved in because republicans wanted those bush tax cuts. and rather than people waiting after the new year for change he gave in? at least if your going to make a point buddy keep it 100 please for the sheep who eat up comments on youtube. it was a smart dumb move on obamas part. rather than average people still wonder and be worried he hurried and made sure something was passed.
Wow stupid as hell dude, you make sound like every single government just waste money. When they don't example are the European nations that spend the money on stuff like schools universal health care and other public services. Services we don't even have in this country and way to stereotype you stupid ass bitch
@rocknmetaldisciples The last time I checked, we DO have schools and "other public services" here. The only thing we don't have is universal health care. The problem with universal health care is that most countries that have it also have private insurance companies that are used to supplement the "free" health care because it's so bad. So basically the people are taxed to provide "free" health care. Then have to shell out MORE money for private insurance. You think paying twice is better?
@stoicsquirrel That's not what I heard, may I have an article or video and also which countries are those. Cause i thought you just pay your taxes to the government why do they need private insurance companies then.
@rocknmetaldisciples You DO just pay taxes to the government. But the health care they provide is crap. Use Google. You'll find hundreds of listing for private health insurance providers in the U.K.
I have a friend in Australia (they also have universal health care) who said that people that can afford it use private insurance companies. I asked why and he said, "if they want quality care, they use private insurance companies" inferring that the government care is NOT "quality" health care.
Oh, not quality care? So no care is better? Oh, so the doctors there are dumber than the ones that work for private health insurance companies? LMAO LOLOLOL
Because in Canada, for example, dentists and optometrists aren't covered moron. Private insurance is only used for non-life threatening care. You are a pure capitalist from what I'm saying. Next you're going to tell me we should do away with Medicare, Social Security, unemployment, Welfare and Veteran's Benefits. All of these are SOCIALIST programs. Can you say that word, sir? NO country is pure capitalist because pure capitalism DOES NOT WORK! Go ask Herbert Hoover LOL.
@philip0460 Funny that you should mention Hoover. He raised taxes; he was anti laissez-faire; he was pro-regulation. None of those are republican ideals. They ARE, however, democrat ideals, and they all helped create the Great Depression.
BTW, doctors don't work for insurance companies as you mentioned in your previous post. You might want to have a basic understanding of who doctors work for before you try to argue about something like that.
@stoicsquirrel So wait, deregulating the economy is how we get the economy on track? It seems to me that you haven't been paying attention over the last couple of years. If anything caused the great depression and the current economic situation it was allowing wall street fat cats to run rampant. 1932, over speculation due to too many people buying stocks on credit caused black Friday. Present day, we allowed banks to set up loans for people who could not ever pay it back and they defaulted.
@stoicsquirrel suppose you think we "forced" the investors to invest in sub prime mortgages and buy stocks on credit. And I suppose that the recession happening only after Bush removed much of the regulation on the financial markets in the 90s is just a coincedence?
@user11235813213455 Give me some examples of Bush removing "much of the regulation on the financial markets" because I can't find anything. I can find stuff that CLINTON did in the 90's. I can find examples of republicans asking for MORE regulations on banks as early as 2002, but nothing about any financial DE-regulation under Bush. For example, Greenspan warned about Fannie and Freddie. John McCain co-sponsored a bill (S.190) that would have added more oversight. Democrats blocked it.
@user11235813213455 No, I'm saying that there are time that regulations are needed, and I think we can all agree that many big banks needed to be put in check. You didn't give me any deregulation examples that the Bush administration was responsible for that could be said to have caused our current economic problems.
@drinkingwithbob you are dead WRONG! Dems want to tax and spend while Reps want to tax cut and spend. If you can't see that then you are truly stupid.
@Biggunz100 You do realize that you basically said the Reps would be doing better for the people. Since you said Dems want to tax and spend....and then said Reps want to tax cut....which is lower taxes....and then spend....so by default you just said Reps are better
@superlucci I'm not here to argue Reps vs Dems, all I'm saying is when the Reps cut taxes there is NEVER lower govt spending, they still spend more then their budget allows by hundreds of billions of dollars. Dems tax and still spend hundreds of billions of deficit dollars. In the end the ONLY thing the dems and reps care about is getting reelected. The documentary "I.O.U.S.A" should be mandatory viewing for all Americans. It's on Netflix and probably YT.
Yes the 'wealthiest' of Americans were gonna have their taxes raised... except when did a family making $400k a yr with a mom dad and 4 kids living in a $300k, w/ 2 kids in college become UBER rich?
Umm well i hope you know yelling idiot that the democrats wanted to keep the tax cuts for the middle and lower classes while raising the taxes on the richest of the rich idiot.....
Although Democrats certainly suck, it's a folly to pretend as if Republicans are any better. They want to "spend less"? Are you serious? Republicans are almost as much of big spenders as the Democrats!
If you are looking to thank someone for leading the way on such financial disasters as the war on drugs and on terror, look no further than the GOP. Their messiah, Ronald Reagan and his disciples George Bush, Dick Cheney and others, fight for the common man by lowering taxes, primarily for the aristocratic gods of capitalism, who, with sacrifice on the part of the people, bless us with jobs at Wal-Mart, where we may sell Chinese goods like fireworks, guns, Nascar merchandise, bibles and flags.
@mikepike25 Yea especially with that stupid war on drugs Nice Going Regan I read all about it, and to be honest it's Hippo crate to what the republicans calm as in that they calm to not have the gov in your business well what was this all about
@USAGymnast Marxism is a failure due to the fact that not everyone is equal, in skill, power, money or anything else and nothing can make it that way. I don't quite get what makes you think i agree with marxism. The failure of capitalism is actually pretty obvious tho. For capitalism to work everyone has to have the ability to use it. The problem with that is once an individual gains money and/or power, instead of working to continue to improve themselves they tend to use it to stop others.
Bob, I certainly hope you don't actually believe that republicans have your best interests at heart.
Republicans want you to work till your 70 (average death for an american male 74.2).
Republicans want to privatized your benefits, those things most folks have been paying for decades. They now want to give their banker friends 25% of your benefits to run what the government does for 5%.
As to your claim that if you give rich people more money they will make jobs, failed back in the 80s.
I agree COMPLETLY

It's just the old confrontation between central planning and allowing the people to spend their money. Among other things, the U.S.S.R. and other communist lands have shown how central planning just doesn't work. It's too bad too many Democrats in Congress haven't figured that out yet.
FiendsInRedSatin1 6 months ago
If it weren't for the extra writeoffs and deductibles that the rich are entitled to that middle class American's are NOT entitled to, I would actually support the tax cuts. But the way the tax cuts were set up only helped the rich and in fact contributed to the $4.9 trillion that Bush added to our nation's deficit. And then came Obama's extension...CHANGE you can count on!
Juzlahindahaus 6 months ago
Why do conservatives feel like yelling unsubstantiated claims really loud automatically makes them true? Since when did highways, education, bridges, military, health care for the elderly, NASA, etc., etc. constitute 100% waste? Sure there's probably some waste, but 100%? like he's shouting. What's really wasteful: some billionaire taking their tax brake and investing it in China or India because that's where the return is highest right now.
MoralMoney 6 months ago
there is also 100% chance that gov't employees will get paid. why is it that gov't employees getting paid is different the private one in your book im not sure.
also im pretty sure that the Ferrari that the billioner is buying puts very few Americans to work and does even less for the US economy.
Crazylalalalala 7 months ago
@Crazylalalalala because the government doesn't make money, it confiscates money. the less people are working for the government, the more work in the private sector, the healthier the economy.
and yes, it does do stuff for the american economy. someone has to manufacture the parts, build it, upholster it, make the gps, paint the car. someone else has to sell it. someone has to service it. someone has to run the gas station the billionaire goes to. and it's not one ferrari, it's thousands
DRsideburns 7 months ago
@DRsideburns
thousands of ferraris, who were painted, upholstered, built, made the parts.... in Italy by Italians. sure someone had to pull it off the boat and drive it to the dealer. but considering the cost of the ferrari that is pocket change and a negligible benefit to the country.
in the current economic market less people working for the government also means more people collecting unemployment. more unemployment is not healthy to any aspect of life.
Crazylalalalala 7 months ago
@DRsideburns Yeah, those housing and financial sectors were really healthy for the economy. Which leads to my theory - why so much right-wing political activity right now: the economy proved them wrong and they're scared people will do the rational thing and support more regulation and government provision of goods and services.
MoralMoney 6 months ago
@Crazylalalalala Good point. I don't think the Ferrari would do much for the US economy and neither would all their investments into India and China - the market says the highest return to investment is there, so that's where we should invest according to the market. Nice how that works, isn't it? - that is, nice for the people that have the money to invest. The rest of us can go get fucked I guess.
MoralMoney 6 months ago
@Moral
yes the high returns are in growing markets such as India, China, Brazil. unfortunately as you said that is only good for people who invest their money, the top notch of big business and stock holders but terrible for anyone else. people like factory workers will get fucked but only if they move the factories to those nations (which they do). the US can be comparative over seas with products made in the US but maximum profits will be yielded by outsourcing the work so it wont happen.

TheLadyShiori 9 months ago
I would like to point out that those people who supposedly make 250K a year don't necessarily clear that much after taxes: Small businesses are the foundation of this country and the Obama administration is screwing them over sideways. The real million and billionaires are the people in high government positions, getting paid to support the destruction of America as we know it. Capitalism doesn't work if the government is too big to be kept in check.
TheLadyShiori 9 months ago
god what do you stupid fucking people dont understand? MORE MONEY IN THE "PEOPLES POCKETS" THE BETTER THE ECONOMY IS! Why do people think the other way around? more money for big businessmen? yeah cuz giving them money so far has helped us right??? right?? FUCKING GET THRU YOUR STUBBORN HEADS. PEOPLE make the economy go round, NOT THE RICH, Sure the rich make the jobs yes we know this. but have they been? no. so what we need to do is double back and "bailout" the people. NOT WALLSTREET IGNORAMUS
Time2Jam247 9 months ago
LOL, this guy doesn't even bother to explain the tax situation, he's just completely bias toward repub beliefs. Its simple, dems want higher taxes toward anyone as a individual that makes more than 250k a year. Guess how many Americans fit that criteria? 3%...only 3% of Americans, who most are millionaires that can afford the tax increase, get taxes raised increasing revenue. Middle class and lower (97%) all get tax cuts. Repubs want tax cuts to everyone, as a way to somehow increase revenue?
MrSquaky 10 months ago
If the government had no money, you wouldn't be alive right now. Pay your taxes and shut up please.
dmcarefuldriver 10 months ago
I think you're confused. It was Bush and his republican congress that increased the size of govt by 27%, increasing our national debt by trillions of dollars. At the same time he decreased govt. revenue by cutting taxes for billionaires and multinational corporations. Reagan raised taxes 3 times, Bush Sr. raised taxes. Saying it's the Dems who raise taxes is disingenuous at best. Hedge Fund gamblers earn the same in one hour as a middle-class household makes In over 47 years. You support that?
Oilwellian 10 months ago
George Bush was a fiscal LIBERAL, and there is no hiding that. And why should the pockets of the wealthy and corporations be a copout for government to dip their hands into whenever they need a quick buck? How about some fiscal responsibility? Bush racked up about $2.5 trillion in debt in his administration (which DID include democrat congress), but Obama's budget is projected to bring us about $5 trillion more in debt, almost TWICE as much as Bush's deficit. That's the "change" he promised...
OddRobb 10 months ago 11
@OddRobb You do realize we're nearly $15 trillion in debt, right? We owe that money. How do you propose we pay it back? Taking grandma's health insurance away? Changing the retirement age to 69? Did you support GE getting over $3 billion back from the American taxpayers last year? Isn't that the very definition of corporate welfare and socialism? And Bush racked up $2.5 trillion in debt? Don't make me laugh. Who do you listen to? Fox News? Limbaugh? Beck? Of course! Edumucate yourself Robb.
Oilwellian 10 months ago
@Oilwellian

MrWhitey101 1 month ago
@MrWhitey101 No, you don't understand recent history.
There were TWO recessions under Bush, one after the dot-com bubble burst and the other recession after real-estate market collapsed. Basic economics less for you: in recessions, governments get less revenue. Now your analogy completely falls apart. Yes, Bush increased the deficit, but Obama has added a whopping $6.5 trillion to the debt, mostly thanks to obamacare and stimulus spending.
I bet you voted for Obama in '08.

for that shot.

It also makes better humanitarian sense, because they need help
loveofphysics 10 months ago

OzzyPatriot 11 months ago
@OzzyPatriot You're a moron. Have you ever taken an economics class? Have your ever sat through one history lesson on the Reagan era? Have you ever heard of the roaring twenties? Ok. Following your logic times have changes and tax cuts don't work anymore. But does that automatically mean things like the great depression, the post WW1 recession and the LBJ recession won't happen when taxes are high? People who don't look at history are doomed to repeat it. Keynesian economic theory doesn't work!
mynameismatt2010 10 months ago
@mynameismatt2010 You've misunderstood. I say NO to tax cuts for INTERNATIONALIST businesses. That includes companies that USE$D to be solely based in America. But are NOT today.
Small, locally OWNED and operated business in America (etc) should get all the Tax relief, since THEY employ local, US citizens... not 'some' Americans and huge numbers of foreigners offshore, while selling their cheap made shit back to Americans at home.
If you don't think THAT is a good idea..then please STFU.
OzzyPatriot 10 months ago
@OzzyPatriot You're the type of person who thinks that everything should be made in the US and companies who outsource are killing the economy aren't you? Look at it this way, everything you buy will cost 3-5 times what it does if it was made in the US. Take the Ipod, made in china but designed and retailed in the US, about $300. The same ipod made in the US would cost 1100 dollars. Now tell me, are you willing to pay that much for an mp3 player? Most people aren't.
mynameismatt2010 10 months ago
@mynameismatt2010 What you're telling me is that we're locked into the ride.
Interdependence (globalism) is great. Self-sufficiency (a country producing everything it needs for itself) is bad.
But mate, here's the problem. It worked for America.
What America is doing now, for the benefit of the few, wont help the average person long term. I HOPE you're an average person, mate. Because only when a smart-ass like you, is in the gutter, will they ever learn to regret taking the easy road.
OzzyPatriot 10 months ago
@OzzyPatriot It's worked for America in the past because in the past America didn't have child labor laws, minimum wage, unions and anti-trust legislation. All of these things that were designed to 'help' the average person in the early 1900's started the outsourcing train, and it's only been gaining speed ever since. I don't blame companies or CEO's for outsourcing. I blame the government for giving such high incentives in favor of oursourcing to domestic companies.
mynameismatt2010 10 months ago
@OzzyPatriot :So whats your point? Are you trying to tell me that a country can possibly produce everything you want? That we go back to a closed economic framework where labor and capital can no longer float? And i thought we had a problem with greed in wall street.Man,your solution is even more strange.
hashpuppy101 10 months ago
Absolutely!Im kinda getting tire of people who whip outsourcing.
hashpuppy101 10 months ago
@OzzyPatriot : Are you aware of the position of the USG on WTO?do you have any idea as to how much pressure your country has put on closed economies to open up?Your govt. has pursuaded every major nation to open their economies up.Look at india,we still get a mouthful from your govts. for not being relatively open.Globalization in the modern context is something that developed nations preached. And now, when it doesnt suit you,you cant go back.
hashpuppy101 10 months ago
Besides that, your country is in trouble not entirely coz of an recession per se.Its also coz of the irresponsible borrowings of your govt.If you knew the wisdom behind spending less, and saving more and getting govts to regulate your banking space, you wouldnt have been in such a big mess at the first place.Economic cycles are normal. You are going to get a correction every decade. But this one is because of meaningless borrowing and spending.and youve dragged the whole world into it.

rrobjchilds 1 year ago 7
@rrobjchilds Yes, Reaganomics was an amazing sucess. The misery index under Reagan was cut in half. That was the biggest drop since the end of the Great Depression. And, have you ever heard of the roaring twenties? Yeah, that was cuz Harding cut taxes across the board. The misery index was around 2% by the end of his presidency. You can't compare Bush to either of them though, he was a leftist tool. Keynesian economics doesn't work. It has been prooven hundreds of times. Hayekian economics FTW!
mynameismatt2010 10 months ago
@mynameismatt2010 You could say it was a success during the time that it was implemented. The 70's were rough with Carter as president, and Reagan came through and directed a lot of changes that helped America. Some were his and some had already been in the works with Carter. But Reagan still had some good downfalls that we feel today. Maybe not the upper class, but the middle and lower are feeling it: btw, Bush was a God tool not a leftist.one.

Do some research.
louis1152 1 year ago
@louis1152 ummm how did any tax cut fuck the middle class and the poor?
mnap128 1 year ago
@mnap128 Do I really need to explain this? One while the rich were paying less taxes, the middle class and poor had to pay full extent of the taxes. Bush claimed with the rich saving money it pass onto us. It never did. No new jobs like Bush said and no bigger pay checks for the workers. We had to pay high taxes along with little money.
louis1152 1 year ago
@louis1152 Yes you do...I never asked the rich to pass their money down to me nor would I expect it...I especially never asked the Govt to take my money and give it to drug addicts on welfare...most of your tax money is spent on the interest of the national debt...The Govt WILL waste our money like always...the govt CANNOT create jobs...Govt involvement lead to the housing bubble which they are still to this day trying to inflate all the while killing the value of our currency.
mnap128 1 year ago
@mnap128 Then why did you vote for Bush? The GOP expected with the rich saving money they would invest more in their companies. Such as GMC, they thought with the owner of that company saving money he would expane and create jobs. None of that happened. You can blame the current economy on the GOP.

Some people should really consider the deficit. By all means cut spending whereever you can(medicare and our defense budget especially) but that alone is not going to solve the probelm. In order to get the deficit down we are going to need to not only cut spending but we are also going to generate more revenue(this means raising taxes). If we don't the international community could loose faith in the dollar and the economic shitstorm that would ensue would dwarf anything in the last 60 years.
user11235813213455 1 year ago
I'm not here to argue Reps vs Dems, all I'm saying is when the Reps cut taxes there is NEVER lower govt spending, they still spend more then their budget allows by hundreds of billions of dollars. Dems tax and still spend hundreds of billions of deficit dollars. In the end the ONLY thing the dems and reps care about is getting reelected. The documentary "I.O.U.S.A" should be mandatory viewing for all Americans. It's on Netflix and probably YT.

Just so you know what us "yanks" consider socialism, check out the following site:
dsausa.org
"The Democratic Socialists of America"
I'm not sure how much different it is than your view... Words can sometimes be relative based on those who use them.
FWIW - I do have some good friends in the UK - they all love to go shooting when the come to the US.
fargley001 1 year ago
@jaguarclaw
The less we entrust government with, the better...
fargley001 1 year ago
@jaguarclaw
Today's recipients have little incentive to work...
fargley001 1 year ago
@jaguarclaw
There are more able on welfare, than needy, and the economy only grows when people work.
fargley001 1 year ago
@jaguarclaw

Just the same, you draw out some very good places to cut spending (Places where Dems and Reps have spent like there's no tomorrow)
Abolish: Socialist Security - Medicare - Medicaid
Restrict: Welfare
Privatize Defense - Education
Rewrite/minimize tax code:
Remove all exemptions (Its not the gov's place to "control" personal spending).

Wow stupid as hell dude, you make sound like every single government just waste money. When they don't example are the European nations that spend the money on stuff like schools universal health care and other public services. Services we don't even have in this country and way to stereotype you stupid ass bitch
rocknmetaldisciples 1 year ago
@rocknmetaldisciples The last time I checked, we DO have schools and "other public services" here. The only thing we don't have is universal health care. The problem with universal health care is that most countries that have it also have private insurance companies that are used to supplement the "free" health care because it's so bad. So basically the people are taxed to provide "free" health care. Then have to shell out MORE money for private insurance. You think paying twice is better?
stoicsquirrel 1 year ago
@stoicsquirrel That's not what I heard, may I have an article or video and also which countries are those. Cause i thought you just pay your taxes to the government why do they need private insurance companies then.
rocknmetaldisciples 1 year ago
@rocknmetaldisciples You DO just pay taxes to the government. But the health care they provide is crap. Use Google. You'll find hundreds of listing for private health insurance providers in the U.K.
I have a friend in Australia (they also have universal health care) who said that people that can afford it use private insurance companies. I asked why and he said, "if they want quality care, they use private insurance companies" inferring that the government care is NOT "quality" health care.
stoicsquirrel 1 year ago
@stoicsquirrel
Oh, not quality care? So no care is better? Oh, so the doctors there are dumber than the ones that work for private health insurance companies? LMAO LOLOLOL
philip0460 1 year ago
@philip0460 Then why don't you try to explain why countries that have universal health care still have private insurance companies.
stoicsquirrel 1 year ago
@stoicsquirrel
Go ask Herbert Hoover LOL.
philip0460 1 year ago
@philip0460 Funny that you should mention Hoover. He raised taxes; he was anti laissez-faire; he was pro-regulation. None of those are republican ideals. They ARE, however, democrat ideals, and they all helped create the Great Depression.
BTW, doctors don't work for insurance companies as you mentioned in your previous post. You might want to have a basic understanding of who doctors work for before you try to argue about something like that.
stoicsquirrel 1 year ago
@stoicsquirrel So wait, deregulating the economy is how we get the economy on track? It seems to me that you haven't been paying attention over the last couple of years. If anything caused the great depression and the current economic situation it was allowing wall street fat cats to run rampant. 1932, over speculation due to too many people buying stocks on credit caused black Friday. Present day, we allowed banks to set up loans for people who could not ever pay it back and they defaulted.
user11235813213455 1 year ago
@user11235813213455 We didn't "allow" it. The banks were forced to do it. It's just another example of over-regulation.
stoicsquirrel 1 year ago
@stoicsquirrel suppose you think we "forced" the investors to invest in sub prime mortgages and buy stocks on credit. And I suppose that the recession happening only after Bush removed much of the regulation on the financial markets in the 90s is just a coincedence?
user11235813213455 1 year ago
@user11235813213455 Give me some examples of Bush removing "much of the regulation on the financial markets" because I can't find anything. I can find stuff that CLINTON did in the 90's. I can find examples of republicans asking for MORE regulations on banks as early as 2002, but nothing about any financial DE-regulation under Bush. For example, Greenspan warned about Fannie and Freddie. John McCain co-sponsored a bill (S.190) that would have added more oversight. Democrats blocked it.
stoicsquirrel 1 year ago
@stoicsquirrel Is this you admitting that "over regulation" did not cause this economic situation?
user11235813213455 1 year ago
@user11235813213455 No, I'm saying that there are time that regulations are needed, and I think we can all agree that many big banks needed to be put in check. You didn't give me any deregulation examples that the Bush administration was responsible for that could be said to have caused our current economic problems.
