A truly lovely film! Joan Plowright is amazing as always, and Rupert Friend is a fresh new talent that I hope we see much more of in the years to come.
My husband and I saw this on TV last weekend. Such a lovely film, I went through nearly a whole box of tissues as the end unfolded. One we have recorded so will watch again and again.
I do wonder though if this could really happen in today's world, I think not.
I love this movie so much. It made me cry so. It brought me to tears. I have never felt so much emotion from watching a movie. It made me think of all those people that have crossed my life and have left an endurable mark on it. You have to watch this movie and be prepared to feel, really feel something. If you don't, are you living?

It's a beautiful film. Rupert Friend got the part by singing "For All We Know" to Joan Plowright as his audition piece. At the end, Rosemary Clooney (sp?) sings "For All We Know" again at the end of the film. It's a very touching, beautiful film.
