thanks. but of course by the time the orchestra really takes over this arrangement comes to a halt :D mostly Alex transcribed the opening piano part. i added a little bit to the end of it. see video details. Thanks!
yeah, nor am I.(got more pop covers recorded on the spanish gtr) & like to get up there for high notes - only the resonnance is more important than notes. if I had the cash I'd go 4 southwellguitars (dot) co (dot) uk
Man. This is also my favorite piece ever. And it gets me kind of moody just listening to it. I play guitar also but just as a hobbie. and I would love to learn this... Nice .. 10 of 10
Nice transcription! I could quickly become a fan! I'm sure you would also do a nice job with some Debussy. It took a while to come across your posts but after the second one, I know I will eventually hear all your stuff. Thanks for the effort to transcribe this. Sweet!
Very beautiful! You've played it with such depth, clarity and vision! The sound of the guitar really gives it a dreamy and ethereal quality! Love it! J
Such an unearthly beautiful piece. It always troubled me before to listen to how weird it goes later on and I always wished it would stop right there where you ended it. Very moving performance.
oh man, the whole thing is of the essence. when strangeness and beauty combine. that's what i love about this guy and his music. the outer movements are wild. like Stravinsky. this movement is dissonant but poignant. (dissonant and poignant --beautiful French words, those are)
glad you liked.
Now go listen to the "Chansons Madecasses". Heart-rending.
Thank you Tony for another beautiful piece. I hope you realize how you are opening our ears and hearts to so much music we may have never tried. I have lots of classical and basso nova (sp?) music on my ipod and even watched some great old films because you brought me there. Please don't stop and thank you, thank you.
Yesterday I saw related videos of Ravel's piano concerto. I don't know why some days it works and some days it doesn't.
Very good arrangement by Alex and brilliant performance by you. It really fits the classical guitar. I'd really be amazed though if you arranged the 3rd movement ;) Thinking of other Ravel works you could try, possibly the Minuet movements from Tombeau de Couperin and Sonatine. Such good harmonies in them that make Ravel my favourite classical composer!
Just started another day in the world of Greed, Lies and Violence. Turned to this to help me get out the door - Ahh! Just what I needed. I should be able to make it through the day now. Millions of thanks to Alex and Tony . . . .
Hi! Alex here. What can I say? For a moment you made me forgot this is a piano concerto (and one of the most beautiful, I should say). Your adjustments and solutions to my arrangement are so clever and pragmatic at the same time. Thanks a bunch for crediting me, this wasn't really that hard once I examined the original piano score, at least up to that measure. Now, if you'll excuse me, I got to keep practicing... :)
Well, this comment is a half for Tony and a half for Alex. Though historically guitar has been considered a popular instrument, sometimes pejoratively from the "cultivated" sectors, arrangements like yours make guitar be as respected as piano. Thanks a lot, boys. A humble guitarist.
Thanks for watching, man. Now I have to watch you and learn "Time Table" at long last. :D I've noodled around with that intro once or twice but haven't hunkered down and really gotten into it yet.
Also, just noticed a wrong chord I play in the Ravel. Ach! There's always a casualty of concentration somewhere.
You're talking about the second chord right before the thrills, aren't you? I didn't noticed it the first time I listened to the video, this insignificant lapse does not make the audition less ecstatic anyway. I've got plenty of those in my videos, and some of them not so insignificant. To chamacojesus, a humble and excellent guitarist, thank you for your words ;^)
Troubleclef: Beautiful. A guy from the UK called Francis Dunnery did a house concert at my house the other week(ohio). Ever heard of one of those? He used to play for It Bites. Try his 'someone like me' on youtube under his name. I'd love to see you cover some of his stuff. Looking forward to a long lifetime of lovely Troubleclef posts in my inbox!
OMG Tony this is beautiful. I don't know who the person is in your life. But if there is someone, and you touch them with the love and precision as you do playing your guitar. I just hope they know how very fortunate they are. I'm just a regular guy, but anyone with eyes, and a basic understanding of the instrument can see just what a complete intimate relationship you have with this guitar. It responds wonderfully to your precise touch. Thank you for the music.
today is my birthday!! thanks for the present!! :) I must admit my little ignorance about classic music..there are lots of pieces i've never listen to in my life..this is one..but beatiful anq quiet, played with your usual class!!

Why the heck do the "related videos" in the box to the right include things that have absolutely no relation to my tags or the title of this video?
Right now there's some jackass thing called "Douche Off" over there. And a clip of Weezer.
This happens with my videos all the time. When I look at other people's stuff, I see appropriate videos in the 'related' box.
Strange conspiracy?
