  • Deadly =D Bravo !!!!

  • This is so beautiful. I didn't think anything but piano and orchestra could do this piece justice, but thank you for proving me wrong.

  • @ggoftheair

thanks. but of course by the time the orchestra really takes over this arrangement comes to a halt :D mostly Alex transcribed the opening piano part. i added a little bit to the end of it. see video details. Thanks!

  • You look very handsome with your beard!!! And you play beautifully!

  • great *****

  • Do you give me guitar score?

    Thnx

  • one word man: Perfect (with capital P) ;D

  • Incredibly beautiful

  • it's a pity you use a cutaway for classical pieces... (though you can get away with it on bossa nova...)

  • it's a blessing actually. :D (not a classical purist by any means)

  • yeah, nor am I.(got more pop covers recorded on the spanish gtr) & like to get up there for high notes - only the resonnance is more important than notes. if I had the cash I'd go 4 southwellguitars (dot) co (dot) uk

  • thanks. i'll check them out.

  • Sounds wonderfull and put me in a relaxed state of mind!! thanx 5***** greetings and respect from Bram D., Holland

  • Thanks Bram.

  • no. it's standard tuning.

  • man. this is my favourite piece ever and you have played perfect! bravo!!!!

  • thanks a bunch.

  • Man. This is also my favorite piece ever. And it gets me kind of moody just listening to it. I play guitar also but just as a hobbie. and I would love to learn this... Nice .. 10 of 10

  • This is my favorite piece ever. You've played it BEAUTIFULLY

  • Nice transcription! I could quickly become a fan! I'm sure you would also do a nice job with some Debussy. It took a while to come across your posts but after the second one, I know I will eventually hear all your stuff. Thanks for the effort to transcribe this. Sweet!

  • i did Jack Marshall's arrangement of "the girl witht he flaxen hair". check it out. thanks1

  • I can hear, you love this music !!

  • Beautiful, never heard it before on guitar, great job, one of my favorite concertos.

  • We can hear the flute, oboe and clarinet starting from 3:12. :o)

The harmony of this Ravel`s composition is amazing. Indescribable.

    Very well played.

  • thanks. subscribe to my channel if you like. cheers.

  • Thanks for the invitation.

  • Very beautiful! You've played it with such depth, clarity and vision! The sound of the guitar really gives it a dreamy and ethereal quality! Love it! J

  • thanks much

  • I really didn't think this was going to work on guitar. How wrong I was; this is lovely.

  • perfect

  • .... Very poetic and delicate. Excellent transciption!

  • thank you, though I must credit Alex (user: hyperboreal) with the initial handy work of transcribing and inspiring me to learn this.

  • Beautiful. Moving. Stunning. Compelling. Mesmerising and other superlatives!

  • Effortless! Great stuff! :oD

  • Ma quanto sei bravo... complimenti!

Suona le canzoni dei Genesis (Genesis song)...

  • Hello Tony . Magnifique arrangement very well playing with beautiful sound always !*****

  • Sheer beauty..x

  • Such an unearthly beautiful piece. It always troubled me before to listen to how weird it goes later on and I always wished it would stop right there where you ended it. Very moving performance.

  • oh man, the whole thing is of the essence. when strangeness and beauty combine. that's what i love about this guy and his music. the outer movements are wild. like Stravinsky. this movement is dissonant but poignant. (dissonant and poignant --beautiful French words, those are)

    glad you liked.

Now go listen to the "Chansons Madecasses". Heart-rending.

  • Beautiful arrangement for a non-guitar piece! And your playing is sounding very soft and beautiful.

  • You bring the life into this wonderful piece. Really appriciate the feeling and emotion expressed with each note. Thanks so much.

  • So beautiful!

  • i love this :) Calms me down and gets me thinking.

  • Great played! Sounds really beautiful :)

  • Thank you Tony for another beautiful piece. I hope you realize how you are opening our ears and hearts to so much music we may have never tried. I have lots of classical and basso nova (sp?) music on my ipod and even watched some great old films because you brought me there. Please don't stop and thank you, thank you.

  • Its so realaxing to watch you play....great job!

  • Excelente, mi amigo. I admire your technique very much. And, of course, your feeling for the music.

    Ron

  • Why the heck do the "related videos" in the box to the right include things that have absolutely no relation to my tags or the title of this video?

Right now there's some jackass thing called "Douche Off" over there. And a clip of Weezer.

This happens with my videos all the time. When I look at other people's stuff, I see appropriate videos in the 'related' box.

    Strange conspiracy?

  • Yesterday I saw related videos of Ravel's piano concerto. I don't know why some days it works and some days it doesn't.

Very good arrangement by Alex and brilliant performance by you. It really fits the classical guitar. I'd really be amazed though if you arranged the 3rd movement ;) Thinking of other Ravel works you could try, possibly the Minuet movements from Tombeau de Couperin and Sonatine. Such good harmonies in them that make Ravel my favourite classical composer!

  • That IS strange. how are those videos related?

  • I don't even look in that box!!! Another great piece of music. Very inspirational playing.

  • That was really beautiful, Troubleclef. Once again you inspire me to continue doing what I love. Thanks again!

  • Absolutely lovely, a delightful treat to wake up to today!

    -Deirdre

  • That was beautiful, truly beautiful

    Lynn From Scotland

  • yeah vote harper

  • Wonderful arrangement and playing.

  • Just started another day in the world of Greed, Lies and Violence. Turned to this to help me get out the door - Ahh! Just what I needed. I should be able to make it through the day now. Millions of thanks to Alex and Tony . . . .

  • that must be horrible, do you work in a bank?

  • Beautiful.

  • great job

  • once again great job!

  • always worth watching. always beautiful.

  • Hi! Alex here. What can I say? For a moment you made me forgot this is a piano concerto (and one of the most beautiful, I should say). Your adjustments and solutions to my arrangement are so clever and pragmatic at the same time. Thanks a bunch for crediting me, this wasn't really that hard once I examined the original piano score, at least up to that measure. Now, if you'll excuse me, I got to keep practicing... :)

  • Well, this comment is a half for Tony and a half for Alex. Though historically guitar has been considered a popular instrument, sometimes pejoratively from the "cultivated" sectors, arrangements like yours make guitar be as respected as piano. Thanks a lot, boys. A humble guitarist.

  • Thanks for watching, man. Now I have to watch you and learn "Time Table" at long last. :D I've noodled around with that intro once or twice but haven't hunkered down and really gotten into it yet.

Also, just noticed a wrong chord I play in the Ravel. Ach! There's always a casualty of concentration somewhere.

  • You're talking about the second chord right before the thrills, aren't you? I didn't noticed it the first time I listened to the video, this insignificant lapse does not make the audition less ecstatic anyway. I've got plenty of those in my videos, and some of them not so insignificant. To chamacojesus, a humble and excellent guitarist, thank you for your words ;^)

  • very special piece, beautifully performed

  • Thanks for the 41 beautiful measures!

You're so concentrated. I always find that very hard with slow pieces. Great video! 5 stars of course.

    Best regards,

    Jolina

  • Hi Jolina. Well, really 40 measures. Stopping on first beat of 41. I thank you for watching and commenting. cheers

  • You are The Man :)- thanks so much for the "more info" on this piece & link to Alex. Thanks again for sharing your talent & love for the music! TRB

  • Troubleclef: Beautiful. A guy from the UK called Francis Dunnery did a house concert at my house the other week(ohio). Ever heard of one of those? He used to play for It Bites. Try his 'someone like me' on youtube under his name. I'd love to see you cover some of his stuff. Looking forward to a long lifetime of lovely Troubleclef posts in my inbox!

  • Wow- great taste! Ravel is my favorite composer, but I never thought of playing him on the guitar. I like La Valse, Sonatine, etc...

To steal a famous quote - I play guitar, but tonight, God is in the house!

  • heheh, I'm no Art Tatum. Thanks. Ravel is one of my favorites for sure. Glad you liked it

  • very beautiful...nice one tony..

  • thanks

  • OMG Tony this is beautiful. I don't know who the person is in your life. But if there is someone, and you touch them with the love and precision as you do playing your guitar. I just hope they know how very fortunate they are. I'm just a regular guy, but anyone with eyes, and a basic understanding of the instrument can see just what a complete intimate relationship you have with this guitar. It responds wonderfully to your precise touch. Thank you for the music.

  • Thank you for you kind comments. I appreciate it.

  • today is my birthday!! thanks for the present!! :) I must admit my little ignorance about classic music..there are lots of pieces i've never listen to in my life..this is one..but beatiful anq quiet, played with your usual class!!
