What the hell? Never knew they made it on the Atari ST?! Loved it on the C64. Someone should make longplays of more obscure ST games, like Sinbad, for example...
there was a game very much like this on st, it was also full screen but you could scroll left and right a little bit as well (bit jerky left+right). i seem to recall mastertronic? any idea
I loved this game! Funny thing is, I never played it much on my ST. In 1997 or so, I got a P133 and started running Pacifist on it, and found myself playing more Atari games there. I downloaded Warkhawk from somewhere and finished it in Pacifist back then. Good memories!
I've just uploaded some C64 videos of this game (including one for just the music) I agree with NotaTube above, it is annyoing how the music doesn't work as well in the game, as the soundtrack is awesome! I'd never seen the Atari ST version before now, it looks nicer than the C64 one but seems slower. Still a great vid though! :0)
Great title music, but this version makes the same mistake as the C64's - tries continuing the music during the game itself, but has to keep dropping parts of the melody to fit even the single-chennel effects into the limited number of channels. Annoying as heck. The Atari 800 version had the music on the title page only and dedicated all four channels to provide a mass of satisfyingly noisy arcade-style sound effects. A trade off, but I don't think you can have both at the same time...
at last i could see again this little gem...20 years later!
it completes my chilhood memories ;)
thanks for that!

Thx for uploading this.
Never played it on 16bit systems. Is it only my impression, or is it a little slow/lame/easy if you compare it to 800XL or C64?

Yeah it drops one of the channels so it can do the sound effects. That's why I uploaded a video of the title screen with the full music on.

the soundtracks of a lot of atari games are A1 class... wish they were remastered into some nice trance-music tracks. atari in my heart forever!

Why is it games on NES and Atari (2d games lol) are soooo much more infuriating when you die, or is that just me? Maybe it's the humiliation?

High definition at its finest.

That game had great soundtrack, sometimes I launched Warhawk on my C64 only to listen to music.

I have the Atari version of the theme as an MP3- it's one of my favourite pieces of computer music :)

(Clarification; I meant the Atari 8-bit version, not this one)
