Chinese martial arts are the most sophisticated. There is no match for Internal styles like Hsing Yi, Tai Ji or Ba Gua. Nor Karate, nor Taekwondo, nor Western boxing.
What do you expect old people do? Beat strangers they never met in a ring with a plastic belt or cup to bring home if they put up a good performance according to the rule book?
Taiwan is the place for living Chinese traditions.
