is that because she has been signed by a Japanese record company and therefore all the releases are in Japanese? I would presume the Chinese songs are either all live performances from previous shows etc
While it's true eastern & western Kham had their political differences, but instead of incorporating much of eastern Kham into Sichuan, why not establish a new province called 東康省?
Eastern Kham was first separated from the west Kham by Mongols 700 years ago. The Manchu emperor made it into Sichuan province 250 years ago. Each successive Chinese state continued it. Even before CPC took over Tibet, East Kham was controlled by Han worlord Liu Wenhui, Amdo was controlled by Muslim Warlord Ma Bufang. They were not under the administration by the Tibet govt at Lhasa in the first place.
Sichuan is bigger than most of the countries in the world. It's expected that those people have different cultures. As I know, the residents in western Sichuan also speak Chinese in Sichuan accent. To me a Chinese from North East China, all of the people live on south side of Shanhai Pass are southen Chinese.
Um, does anyone know her chinese songs? I actually prefer her chinese songs over her japanese ones but most of the songs I find are in japanese.

Western Sichuan used to belong to Kham (西康省), it has nothing in common with the rest of Sichuan. It was arbitrarily incorporated into Sichuan in 1958.
Imagine carving out a piece of Fujian & incorporate it into Guangdong, in total disregard of cultural affinity, that's what happened.

Try that with the hard-nosed Hokkien/Minnan folks (by making them "Cantonese"), & you got a civil war at hand.

do you know that chaozhou people are cantonese? they speak minnan hua and consider themselves cantonese. what civil war?
