For instance, at least in Europe's middle ages, you wouldn't typically kill someone in a competition like these. Yet for whatever reason, this fight in the movie ends with Lancelot posed as if he's seriously threatening the other guy's life if his opponent won't give up.. Is that accurate? Who knows, but maybe an expert, and do they even really know?
@MrJackswan This is a different scenario then your usual tournent, in a Joust the main objective is to just knock the opponent off his horse, this instance Gawain had called out the Queen's indiscretions with Lancelot and he was defending her honor in the court of swords (trial by combat, a common practice in the middle ages), at the point that Gawain said the queen was Innocent Lancelot would've skewered Liam Neesons Mouth to the floor if he hadn't passed out as he was the winner of the trial
It's sort of funny how we can never know what an event like this was for ancient people, what it meant exactly for them, how it felt and how they reacted to it. We can only give a pale emulation in our art, but we might be missing the point in some fundamental ways.
i couldnt have the heart to fight a wounded man like that. i would only fight a warrior at his best not his worst. even if i gotta look like the fool, i would walk away and challenge him another time.
