Mystery solved! Many thanks for posting this. As a little rugrat in front of a 7" or maybe by then a 12" tv screen, I'd hear this spooky tune when a certain "egghead" show of those days came on. On this show a panel of scientists would tackle a mystery object on a pedestal in a spotlight and see if they could identify it before time ran out. You have made my day!
