  • I bet zippcast is blaming direboris

  • I've been trying to access Zippcast.com and I can't go to it. it's like the site don't exist or some shit like that. any body knows what going on, did the mighty Google shut it ?

  • @LocoLibreisI the servers are like overloaded, they will eventually be good though.

  • @KeenansWallets "500 Internal Server Error" this is most definitely from an overloaded server

  • @LocoLibreisI check out theyre facebook and all will be answered

  • I cant even get the thing to load up... is this google being pricks?

  • ZippCast was made in 2010 and I had an account on there. It has crashed about 10 times. And they got copyrighted because they used to be called ZippTube.

  • ZippCast doesn't even work for me. I can upload and change things around, but videos will not load, the flash player module doesn't even show up!

  • @CarnelProd666 i have the same problem... but dont worry this is like a beta.. they are still fixing the bugs and are asking for people to donate money to them so they can make the website better.. By march.. EVERYONE will switch to Zippcast.. i guarantee it :)

  • I First appeared in 2007 and started to make videos in 2008

  • ZippCast is older. It started in 2009 or 2010. I remember, it already existed in summer 2010. And nothing has changed. It's not fast enough IMO.

  • Zippcast is way better but just remember they only have like 4 server very slow the site but i love it

  • It would be funny if zippcast would NOT allow all the VERY BIG YT partners jump ship if they get really huge

  • Zippcast is good so youtube will have some competiton in the internet video world and that will keep youtube in line and keep them from doing stupid things

  • Who EXACTLY owns zippcast? I am still searching. Have not found out yet. It looks so similar to Youtube that I would not be surprised if it was owned by the same people as youtube...anyway let's find it out.

  • @alriha77 No, ZippCast is a small independent company... right now they only have 7 employees!

  • @vwestlife It unfortunately shows too, lol

  • @vwestlife lets pray they don't sell out to GootubEbaypal

  • zippcast sucks.

  • ZippCast is dead for me here.

  • @EastAngliaUK It works fine here =)

  • @MindOfCreativity

Yes its back up now still cannot upload my first video.

  • @EastAngliaUK Uploading to ZippCast has not been available for over a week now.

  • I want to know what PC you use for your Main PC.

  • @an65001 Watch my video "IBM ThinkCentre SFF desktop PC (P4 3.6 GHz)".

  • Been trying to upload my first video to ZippCast but keep getting

Video uploading is under maintenance! Please come back later!

So its not to good to me right now.

I have been putting some videos on blip TV but would like to try ZippCast its just ever since I have sinned up I have been having the maintenance thing.

  • @EastAngliaUK ZippCast posted an announcement saying they are working on a major upgrade to the uploading system.

  • @vwestlife

Hopefully it will fix some bugs and things you said about and make it more faster.

    Will try later.

  • Hopefully as this site gains traction, it'll be able to let us upload HD videos. When that happens, then I'll start to put serious effort into it. Let's hope it does well and google can't have it!

  • @BlooditeDrakan gotta tell ya I made a channel on Zippcast not too long ago. unfortunately, something caused it to get shut down. I believe that was their 3rd attempt at the website as it was shut down before. I uploaded some vids, but then had to reupload them here after it went under.

  • @Balames87 That's a bummer. Have you thought of trying out ZippCast again?

  • @BlooditeDrakan ZippCast already supports HD video, although they don't advertise it. If you upload a 720P video and then watch it full-screen, it will be displayed in its full resolution. I haven't tried 1080P yet, but that also should be true.

  • Machinima to Zippcast. #lol.

  • YouTube had many of the same quirks when it first started. AND it was much slower than it is now. YouTube is still far from perfect today - too bad they are making many of the WRONG changes in an effort to...umm...just what da hell is YouTube trying to do, anyway?

  • Thanks VWestlife.

  • Zippcast will be sworming after March......Just watch....I don't blame them.

  • @XxevilwithinmysoulxX it's in the process right now...

  • transfer youtube theme background to zippcast :) /watch?v=__Lr1FiNpGo

  • I started using YouTube in July of 2008. Ever since the Warner Music Group DMCA abuse scandal in early 2009, the "Beta" channels forced, two horrible site design changes, YouTube has been in the process of a slow decline.

  • @vwestlife I've already sent out a bulleten to my subscribers, plus I've posted 3 videos on my channel linking to my Zippcast account, and I'm putting links to Zippcast in my videos. I think on March 7th I'Il put all of my videos in private except the three videos about Zippcast, then wait for most of my audience to go to Zippcast (or try to get/regain my audience on the site) and then see what happens.

  • I hate the new youtube lay-out, really hate it, it was fine before! why change? there is no need for another change.

  • Use your YT channel to advertise for its competitors.

  • You saved my day! =)

  • I signed up with my name and a few other good names in case it ever becomes popular ;)

  • I'm in the process of uploading my older videos to Zippcast. By March, I will completely move over to Zippcast and possibly delete my YouTube account.

  • @SebiStudios2 If you want to purposely eliminate 99% of your audience, the choice is yours! I have accounts on ZippCast, Vimeo, and DailyMotion, but the three of those combined don't get even 10% of the views YouTube gets.

If you really want to switch over anyway, the best thing to do is keep your YouTube channel open, but post annotations on all your videos telling people to visit your new ZippCast channel. That is really the only way it will get noticed!

  • @SebiStudios2 same here...

  • @SebiStudios2 I've done the same thing, except I'm gonna delete all my uploaded videos and just keep my playlists and favourites. Many people are in the process of moving over to Zippcast so the server is running very slow right now.

  • The video clip it the end: I was going to guess Westlife, but then I used Google. Anotifeher boyband......vwestlife is addicted to boybands

  • @ThomasTheXPUser *another

  • @ThomasTheXPUser Not all boy-bands... in fact, I really don't like a lot of them. But A1 and Westlife are definitely my two favorites.

  • I'll certainly sign up, YouTube has really gone downwards in terms of customization. I'll upload a few of my videos to see how things work out.

  • I went to ZippCast, it seemed OK. Until I started to navigate the website is when I had problems. The website takes to long to load videos, at least in my opinion. But I like the layout.

  • I signed up to Zippcast out of curiosity, but I'm still waiting on my certification e-mail so they can approve my account.

I've been using YouTube since 2006 and can put up with their copyright BS. I've checked out other streaming sites and Vimeo is the only one that's almost as good as YT, but they are mainly for filmmakers and documenters.

  • ive been on youtube since 2006 and im not going anywhere... i just dont trust this site for some reason...

  • I signed up for it, i'm hoping they work the bugs out. I like the way it looks and feels, the new channel design on youtube is horrible, the worst update yet! I was most active on youtube between 2007 and 2009.

  • YouTube was full bug back then and now that part of YouTube has not changed .

But i like why zip cast looks

  • why dont you put sp3 and ie 9 anf use firefox and opera?

  • @WinbookXL3 I use Opera 11.51 as my main web browser. IE9 won't run on Windows XP.

  • @vwestlife i ment to say ie8

  • ZippCast is a tad slow, but with my 12Mbps connection, It's OK. I created an account, just in case YouTube becomes extremely unusable. Although it's sad to see the Channels 2.0 going, Everyone, say goodbye to customization.

  • how did you show the old youtube stuff?

  • @james42519 An old screenshot and video I had.

  • I don't plan to leave Youtube unless it becomes seriously unusable, and I doubt that I will set up a ZippCast account just yet...that said, this has some real promise. If it gains some traction, maybe Google and Youtube will notice.

  • @uxwbill As of yet, ZippCast does not render MPEG2 video properly, so that makes it unsuitable for the vast majority of my videos (made using the Canon FS200 and other standard-definition, non-tape camcorders). So until they can get that problem corrected, ZippCast will just be a novelty to me, not something I put any serious time and effort into (just like Vimeo and DailyMotion, which I am also signed up to, but never really use).

  • Internet explorer 7? why? not only is it outdated but frankly who cares, use Firefox ;)

  • @jedw I use Opera 11.51 (the latest version) as my main web browser, so I only use IE as a backup. In this case, I wanted to verify that the glitches I were encountering were not Opera's fault, so I used IE to demonstrate the site.

  • I decided to sign up on ZippCast, after trying it out. It needs work, but I think it'll be a decent back-up if YouTube continues the way they're going right now.

  • zippcast's layout seems to work just fine in firefox.

  • I'm not going to use ZippCast. I THINK I had my first YouTube Channel, which got deleted July 2011, when it still looked like that. I like the new version better, and I never did like how YouTube (now how ZippCast) puts their logo on your video.

  • Youtube will remain my main hub but look me up on Zippcast I am MaximumRD if anyone is into retro/classic Gaming and Computing! My ONLY gripe thus far, pretty slow even navigating one page to another and I search for people but even using filters I don't think the search function is too good but hey hopefully this is just growing pains! I applaud their efforts and wish them best of luck in gaining a piece of the market. zippcast.com/profile/MaximumRD

  • I would always want all the old features and looks back but unfortunately you dont due to business and money reason, finally ZippCast did it, with all our old features, even some stuffs are updated!!!, i really like it, my ZippCast ID is Tamil, contact me over there !!!

  • YouTube is always slow to buffer too (more noticeable on a fast connection), sometimes I'm waiting 5 mins for a 30 second 240p clip to buffer! Thats one thing I hate about Web 2.0 stuff, that "lets force everyone to change to the new and improved look no matter how stupid and broken it is" crap has to stop. At least with regular computer apps you have a choice to not upgrade, just ask all those Mac Microsoft Word 5.1 fans!

  • @NJRoadfan It's interesting that you would say that about slow buffering because videos have actually been loading VERY quickly for me recently. Less than a min. (usually 45 secs. or a little less) for a 20 min. vid in 360p, and I only have a 30mb connection.

  • I'm now a ZippCast member. My ID there is "TheFritzster."

  • hi you seem to know abit about computers . when im on my main computer on you tube the sound pops and crackles but it does not on any other site . do you know what might cause this . its on windows 7 upgraded from vista . sorry not related to this video

  • @GROUCHYDEVIL Sorry, I don't use Windows 7.

  • @vwestlife ok no worries

  • @GROUCHYDEVIL I have this problem too sometimes, but a restart always helps. I don't know what might cause this, but I noticed that happened only after I changed a theme in windows 7. Although I might be wrong.

  • @Radu287 ok thanks

  • I rather like the "beta channels".....these old channels are cool, but I like the current channels now.

    But the new channels suck.

  • @Dell0304 ZippCast also lets you choose a clone of YouTube's soon-to-be-retired beta channel layout, but it still needs some work.

  • wow, that's pretty cool. i think i might give this a try myself.

  • One more thing, could ZippCast actually get sued for emulating YouTube's layout? Because I can picture Google doing something like that.

  • @wilkes85 Unless ZippCast actually copied parts of YouTube's code, I don't think a lawsuit would have any merit. A lot of web sites look similar to each other, and it would really be difficult for YouTube to claim intellectual property rights today on a layout they abandoned three years ago.

  • I uploaded a video on there yesterday and it's still processing, so i'm reuploading it. I seem to remember having to do that with YouTube in 2006, so I guess they're trying to give you the whole experience lol... I'm also having a different issue with the thumbnail, it shows up stretched and distorted. But once they work out the kinks, this is gonna be a really cool site. and I think it might even become popular enough to be real competition for YouTube.

  • 2006-2007 YouTube was better .. But hey, this is pretty cool

  • Thanks for this, just joined and subscribed to your channel!

  • Oddly enough I was just looking out for youtube alternatives, but couldn't find any good reviews for any mentioned. Thanks for uploading this! :)

  • is there a 2006 version?

  • Unless I can make money from my videos I won't be uploading over on that site. My 100$ a month check might not be much but I won't give it up.

  • Interesting! Yeah I think it is the same problem with Google+ compared to Facebook, no matter how much better it MIGHT be (not saying it is) I don't see many people jumping ship because there whole foundation of videos and subscribers are already HERE on Youtube. Problem s I think Youtube damn well knows it too lol! Still, options and competition are a good thing and I appreciate you sharing this thanks!

  • @MaximumRD But if ZippCast (and possibly others) can attract enough NEW users to put a dent in YouTube's continued growth from NEW users, then they might take notice!

  • @kevin12567 of course anything is possible but I don't see it, hey I want to believe as much as anyone but there are many video hosting services and good for these guys trying to bring back what Youtube lost but in the end even if Youtube "takes notice" so to speak it is not likely to change much. Just like comparing Microsoft and Apple, SURE Apple grew a LOT but it is still a tiny percentage in comparison. Being second is not a bad thing for sure.

  • @kevin12567 Hey I am even already set up there as MaximumRD, why not lol? Again, options and competition are a good thing but no matter what you offer in the end it is really hard to compete against the established giant, nothing wrong with a backup and being prepared. I remember when people first heard about Google+ and being sick of Facebook policies and issues so many people thought "Oh Facebook is in for it!" but in the end the majority did not want to bother starting over....
