@brodank Maybe. I was thinking of how Pete Rowan described Bill when he first saw Newgrass Revival at Beanblossom. He said, "I don't like it" (referring to the non-traditional style). Bill was very protective of his music, but later as he became known as the father of a new genre of music, he softened up. I think he liked Elvis doing Blue Moon because Elvis was a superstar, but he felt that other bluegrass artists were stealing his material. I love Bill Monroe's music & saw him many times.

@brodank I guess it is really irrelevant anyway! But concerning this band, when I first looked at them I had good expectations. I liked their retro look and was thinking about other bands such as Big Sandy and his Fly-Rite Boys, perhaps expecting some swing or a bit of jazziness. But as I listened for them to excite me, they didn't deliver! I think they have potential, but I didn't get a buzz off of this tune. I definitely prefer the older styles of bluegrass.

The music for Mario Brothers was initially recorded by Miyamoto onto a tape (on banjo no less) and sent to a company in the United States to digitize. The original is probably a lot closer to this than what we know in the video game.
