you know what's ironic? this film was made/released in 1993. What those three actors didn't know was-- in exactly ten years from that point, Pacino would win the Emmy & Golden Globe for HBO's "Angels in America", Sean Penn to win the Oscar for "Mystic River", & Viggo Mortensen making bank & cast awards for the third Lords of the Rings. How time can change, eh? *-*

Very underrated masterpiece. Maybe I'm crazy but I loved it better than The Godfather and Scarface. Al Pacino was superbrilliant. Sean Penn, Penelope Ann Miller and Luis Guzman did a great job too.

I recommend this movie to everyone!

Yes, I do agree with you. I love that movie. It was selected as the best movies from the 90's by a French cinema magazine. Pacino is great, and the others actors are also brilliant (special mention to SEAN PENN.) Actually I didn't recognize him until the credits rolled up at the end of the film, when I saw it for the first time back in 1994 !

But thats just my perspective, I just don't see the point in gangster life,they basically live life on the edge and when they get to close they're pushed off or they fall.
