  • My helmet has somewhat of a matte finish rather than a gloss finish like yours. Do you think this will negatively affect the adhesion of the mounts?

  • @SPLmonster93 My GoPro is mounted to a flat black Scorpion helmet. It sticks just fine. 100mph tested.

  • @asdffdasasde Excellent! My helmet just so happens to be a Scorpion as well. Can't wait for my camera to come in!

  • The gopro doesn't fall off that easily

  • should have spent that gopro money on a half decent helmet

  • Yea, from all the side by side comparisons I've seen the GoPro seems to have a bit higher quality video. The Contour vids seem just a tiny bit darker for some reason and the GoPro audio seems better. Just wish it was cheaper.

  • Damn. I was trying to decide between the GoPro and the Contour ROAM. I think I'll go with the Contour. The GoPro just looks way to big to be mounted on a helmet. Thanks for the vid.

  • @wcjcnc Good Luck and thanks for commenting. IMO the GoPro (hero2) is a great choice. if you can find a place that offers both cameras that you can see side-by-side, I think that would be a great why to decide.

  • heres a suggestion, use hot glue,,, i know it sound sketchy but works out great

  • is it bad to hot glue it to ur helmet?

  • @badbusdriver I wouldn't trust hot glue at all. Those 3M labels seem like they can hold up to some crazy stuff. I would advise using them.

  • @xMooNv the supplied 3M backing is on the helmet along with the hot glue to take up the space left by the contours of the camera mounting plate and the helmet not matching.

  • what's the diameter on the adhesive that goes on the chin part of helmet? I don't think it'll fit on my RF-1100 helmet because that part of my helmet is not perfectly curved

  • @SexyToshi Toshi, I have an rf-1100 and it doesn't adhere perfectly to the chin bar. What I had to do was mount it in a way that used most of the 3m pad, and attach the rest of the exposed mount with velcro. Not the flashiest, but we got screwed out of mounting our gopro to our helmets.. didn't we? lol

  • @iretrate Thanks, I already have gopro and attached it on top of helmet, check out my video at vimeo - just search for "kangaroo faceplant"

  • @SexyToshi Thx for your question. once you adhere the mounting plate, you can do the same as I did to take up the difference in curvature. - Good Luck !!

  • You should NEVER use epoxies, hot glues or even some stickers and paints on the surface of a motorcycle helmet.......and using rivets is just plain stupid!

I suppose it all depends what is worth more to you, a camera or your brain function

  • @drukenhard Hey thanks for your advice - did you watch the video?? Did you listen to what I said?? Using 2 small rivets is stupid if you don't want to trash your camera ?? how did you mount your camera? what type of stunning do you do with it?

  • @RobRuotolo1 I'm not actually mounting it on a motorbike helmet.....I'm putting mounts on the bike, my snowboarding helmet and my rollerblading helmet so it's going to be subjected to hits, falls and vibrations.

I'm sure the user manual for your helmet would have warned against using paints or stickers on the helmet surface. By doing so you risk the degradation of the chemicals that add strength to the shell and more than likely void your warranty.

Rivets require holes, holes are even worse!

  • i dont ride bikes so please correct me if im wrong... but i see alot of these videos on mounting to helmet.. why would you have a mounting place on the chin pad and onother on top. your not really getting any better angle from one another . where im going with this i just puchase a go pro for my jet ski and i have the mounting points placed all over the jet ski for different angles i just cant justify on putting 2 mounts near the same place

  • @deanoobaby I have the two positions just for two different POV's I also own a few of these now and lets say I wanted to shot one from the front view and the other from the rear thats how I would use the two different mounts.. etc.. Good Luck with yours !!

  • @RobRuotolo1 thanks !!!! have any of your adheisive mounts failed yet? i had two of mine starting to peel off so i drilled holes and counter sunk them and fitted two small nuts and bolts .i geuss they dont like salt water . i also use a lanyard tied to the gopro just for extra secuirity . ive only had one fail with the suction mount [video in my channel] good job a lanyard was tied to it .

    deano

  • 8 mins is not quick lol

  • @thekidwithballz lol.. I didn't want to leve anything out.

  • Cool video thanks :)

  • is the 3m tape waterproof?

  • @GoProHero1000 So far as I know, I would expect it would be. Check on the surfboard mount and see if that is secured with the same adhesive. Good Luck!!

  • Can you let me know which videos are the chin mount & which are the top helmet mount? Thanks for the tips...good stuff!!! I went to Barber this past weekend & wish I had this camera!

  • @nawtn Hi, if you see a lot of the bike in an overview perspective the is the top mount and if you are looking straight through my window thats the chin mount. I look forward to doing the Barber thing one day in CT.. Well I hope you get a chance to do it again and perhaps grab one if these cameras.. best of luck.

  • should have filmed this video with a separate go pro!

  • lol you did the same thing i did in the front chin mount

  • the motorsport version comes with all this accesories?

  • @Gamerforever1 think so you could go here gopro.com/cameras/hd-motorsports-hero-camera/

  • @Gamerforever1 Yep..

  • @RobRuotolo1 how fast can you go with it? until it come lose?

  • Good video thanks

  • the mounting plates can only be applied once right?

  • @theorderoforange i crashed my supermotard and banged my helmet to the ground so that the sticky M3 mount came of my helmet, after i throw all the stuff in my backpack and when i got home i tryed to just place it back on and it sits like a mountain still.

  • dont u fuck up the helmet if ur gonna take of the stickers again?

  • @m3g1 no

  • with the suction things can you take them off ur helmet or on there for good?

  • Is it me or does everybody think that putting a Gopro camera in front of your field of view (visor) is a safe place to mount on your helmet?

  • @mwells45 if you are wondering ,it is below my line of sight and does not interfere with my vision at all. I've had it on for 3 years now with no issues.

  • good call on the lens cleaner, thanks man

  • wait you use the sticky things? are they strong enough to stay on while riding? they won't just fall off?

  • does the helmet mount come with the gopro itself?

  • @OreoLivesOn yes it comes with a curved sticky mount and a straight sticky mount. it also comed with a helmet strap so you dont have to put the sticky ones on your helmet. and it comes with 2 quick release things one is just standurd and the other one is taller and full adjustable.

  • whats in the background? a mini bridge? ahah

  • Sorry but dum ass the suction cup works it

  • What mount is the gopro on at the begining of the video ?

  • is there some converter that can take a regular camera go into the mount for GoPro cameras?

  • @Sikeman214 Place the M3 Sticky Thing on your Camera and put one small mountain plate on it... The same on your helmet and you can use GoPro Mounts for every cam

  • Will that 3M tape thingy stick and stay on a matte surface, because my helmet is a matte black???

  • @Master59682 - I believe that would work out just fine.

  • Nice I have mine mounted on the front also but I use the mount on the side of the bike mostly. Good stuff thanks for sharing.

  • have u been watching?

  • thansk bro it helped alot

  • @raptorboyz960 - You bet, good luck ride safe - look forward to seeing your vids.

    R.
