Hello, that's because I used pictures from other parts of Wales, not only from Rhuddlan. I've never been there so I browsed on sites like flickr or deviant art.
Sorry if there are better pictures of Rhuddlan I didn't put in, but I didn't find many and it was not my intention to show pictures but to share the song of Thomas L. Thomas.
This language and this song is simply increddible - do everything in your power to save this language - it would be a disaster if this beauty of a language woulkd disappear...
Of all the videos on Youtube, I keep coming back to this one. The music of Wales is spellbinding. TLT's voice is just amazing. I have long sung this song in English, but now I feel it must be sung in Cymraeg - this video is perfect for helping me learn the pronunciation. Now if I only had a harp. Thanks for posting.
Still the best welsh folk song performance ive ever heard, and there's a lot of competition out there with terfel, Price, burrows, etc. It has the best true feeling of the old welsh mountain warriors lost in the past, mourning their dead and the loss of their great Kingdom of Britain to the Saxons. Thousands of Welsh poems attest to this spirit, and it the inspiration for Arthur's avalon and hope for the return of the King someday
Beautiful pictures, beautifully enhanced by the sound of Thomas L. Thomas's melodious and unique light baritone. I wish they would reissue some of his work on CD. Recently, on a visit to North Wales, I made enquiries about him in a shop specialising in Welsh books, music etc., but they said they'd never heard of him. Druan ohonyn nhw!
Stupendous clip! PLEASE add the full name, Thomas L. Thomas, to your tags so that people can find it more easily. I never would have heard it but for a comment on another TLT clip. I agree with griffcats and lanka39 -- there is too little of TLT's work out there. I'm starved for it!!
TLT was a superb artist. This sounds like an earlier recording than the LP version which he did for London Records, c. 1952. For folk song (he also made a marvelous LP of Scottish songs) TLT was on a par with McCormack and McKellar. He may have been hampered by the fact that he sounds like a baritenor; but that is one of things I like best about him. Those clear, pinging high notes are just the right thing for the Welsh, Scottish, and Irish folk songs. Thanks for posting the great TLT. 5 stars!
There really should be much more of this glorious voice. The recording is old but the timbre and the feeling are with the listener as if TLT was present. More please.
Stunning

Afterthought: The video is superb, and the lyrics and their translation completes the picture. One of the best clips I've found on YouTube!
