Dime bar?! What always makes me giggle about this add is my yougest brother got caught trying to steal some dime bars when he was little. Well as soon as we found out his nickname became Dime Bar! Oh he hated it.

I was in secondary school when this ad came out... The term "Dime Bar" became a put-down for a thick person for about six months in response to this ad e.g. "You stupid Dime Bar!"

Why do confectinary companys alienate people though? Nestle sells products in the UK, so why not butterfingers?

I mean, christ, they've only just started selling mountain dew over here, how long have the american's had that before they thought "Hey, their's a shitty little island over the big water over there, let's see if they wanna buy our high energy lemonade."

If you go to the 99p shop in the UK you can buy these. They're called Daim rather than Dime for some reason.

It has always been called Daim bar other than the UK. After 2005, it was changed to reflect that of the rest of Europe. Just as Jif was changed to Cif a few years ago.
