@PepinoMichoacan ... and you can do it with this baby..... doesn' t take too much space, it' s rather portable and easy to adapt if you come from an electric bass.
maybe it's written that way but when you're playing the "b" sections in the head of the tune you're going into Samba feel (a' one a' two) while the congas and timbales are still playing tumbao (cubano).
A lot of bassists confuse Samba with Salsa but it doesn't make it musical.
thank you and you are absolutely right. Bear in mind that this was not rehersed at all, almost 2 years ago got this baby the day before all the way from the US, got down in my studio with a friend and a camera and taped over the base, more carried away by enthusiasm that by technique. I played mainly jazz until then, then started really studying latin bass since then and since I have been a percussionist for the years before, hence my agreeing with your comment, thanks again... Ciao
thanks for the comment, it is indeed a great instrument, sounds better and better..... the strings are Thomasik Spirocore Welch..... nice ones, I actually would like them even a size thicker... but that is a matter of taste and feel. I use them thicker on an other acoustic and I like them even better...... peace and music...
thank you, this model of Azola is great, the closest you can get to a fully blown upright even for Jazz, although its perfect use is for latin tunes. I have just finished recording a demo CD of Jazz Standards with it, if you want to listen there is a video on my youtube page or go to my Myspace page. thanks again for the comment. Ciao

Cool! Glad to hear you're sticking with it.
Check out Humberto Perera (the original longtime bassist for La Orquesta Ritmo Oriental (not the 2000s version).
Also Alain Perez from Issac Delgado.
