This isnt a great step forward for PES. At least they moved forward, but theres still some things worth imrpoving. Like the dribbling. Sure its better than Fifa but still when you turn the movements look to sudden, and kind of decreases the quality of the dribbling in General. Also the reaction timing. When a player tackles another player, the player that got tackled just stands there for a while as if he didnt know what just happened, pretty much giving the ball away. Now thats all they need.

PES 2008 was crap, but it was still much better compared to FIFA 08 in terms of gameplay (I had both in PS3). I'm very excited about FIFA 09 though, it has improved a lot since 08. Can't say which one's better since I haven't had my hands on PES 2009 but chances are I might buy both and enjoy both just as much (especially now that Konami has the Champs League license + United and Liverpool) :)

This is such a funny video, is this ISS '98 on the playstation 1? Honestly the series never changes does it. It was by far the best game of the 90s but the genre has moved on. This discussion is fucking stupid. Look, PES always had kick ass gameplay (I remember I had International soccer star 98 and loved it as well as many other konami games) but lame ass presentation. Fifa has decent gameplay but really shined in the presentation. For me, Fifa had the edge on the old consoles by only a narrow margin but is currently blowing Pes out of the water on next-gen. I loved the Fifa 09 demo and am very impressed by the strides that EA was able to make in the last 2 years.

ive been playin Fifa since '95 or so and even ISS until PES became a contender. i preferred PES because the gameplay was more realistic and i didn't care about the rights and lack of names etc. i owned both pes and fifa 08 editions 4 ps3 and gave PES away because fifa 08 finally surpassed it with its new game engine. ive played both for months, Fifas better.
Well, they are correcting some issues and bugs, introducing one single new mode, and slightly improving the master league mode. Not enough.
This video is bassically PES 2008 w/ slight movement/animations improvements and less buggy.
From what I've seen from FIFA 2009 gameplay, I'm eagerly antecipating it. This year I'm trying FIFA as well, because I trully believe it is quite better than PES nowadays.

Nice come back, but I have been working for 10 years and have a mortgage with my Girlfriend, hence I am not a kid.
But in all honesty back to the games discussion, I cant say Fifa09 or PES, not overly impressed by Fifa09 demo - so its any ones game, literally lol.

This discussion is fucking stupid. Look, PES always had kick ass gameplay (I remember I had International soccer star 98 and loved it as well as many other konami games) but lame ass presentation. Fifa has decent gameplay but really shined in the presentation. For me, Fifa had the edge on the old consoles by only a narrow margin but is currently blowing Pes out of the water on next-gen. I loved the Fifa 09 demo and am very impressed by the strides that EA was able to make in the last 2 years.

ive been playin Fifa since '95 or so and even ISS until PES became a contender. i preferred PES because the gameplay was more realistic and i didn't care about the rights and lack of names etc. i owned both pes and fifa 08 editions 4 ps3 and gave PES away because fifa 08 finally surpassed it with its new game engine. ive played both for months, Fifas better.

Well, they are correcting some issues and bugs, introducing one single new mode, and slightly improving the master league mode. Not enough.
This video is bassically PES 2008 w/ slight movement/animations improvements and less buggy.
From what I've seen from FIFA 2009 gameplay, I'm eagerly antecipating it. This year I'm trying FIFA as well, because I trully believe it is quite better than PES nowadays.

I've prefered PES to FIFA since it came out but i thought FIFA 08 was much better than PES 2008 and by the looks of it FIFA 09 looks as if its going to be better again

I am going to buy both games, and play them both. I like both the games. In my opinion PES and Fifa's latest games look different, not better or worse.

i dont belive in buying a footy game just because i had the prequel the year before, alll these years ive bought pes because its been the better game. therefore this year i'll be buying fifa, cus its the better game. however next year if its pes which looks the best i'll buy that. i simply dont understand people hu defend pes to the earth or vice versa, if fifa looks better buy fifa, pes looks better buy pes. buy the one ur gonna enjoy most, dnt just buy one beacuse thats the one ura 'fan' of.

I agree mate, I was once a PES fanboy and believe me, PES fanboys will almost never admit the truth, that is that FIFA09 looks far far far better than PES09. PES 09 looks exactly the same as PES08 and thats a fact. I cant beleive you dilusional fanboys, you should realise what I did, what matters is the game, not the developer. FIFA was shit until 08, now it beats pro in every way including the gameplay and thats undebatable if you have seen FIFA09 in action. Demo thursday. PES RIP 2008

i have to agree with isaiahledz, i have been a pes boy ever since i got my first footy game on a console. every year ive argued with fifa fans that pes is a much better game, and every year i have believed that i have been right.
but after pes 2008, and fifa08, i now believe that fifa is the better game, and after looking at the demos etc, fifa 09 looks superior in every way. fifa 09 is on my list this year, pes wont be unfortunately.
