Sometimes our instinct serves us right. Artificially made fructose corn syrup is more unhealthy than cane sugar for example. People look to natural ingredients because they fear the unknown, including new chemicals. When we get really sick, we take the designer drugs the trusted doctor prescribes and skip GNC.
Great point, however It's also reminds me of the infamous russian salmon advertising trick "new tinned salmon - Dosen't turn pink!" which falsely implies all other tinned salmon turnes pink. Labeling something "natural" implies all other sources to be unnatural, ie less of whatever cultural association the word natural implies.
