if you want to repair your handle to a mirror finish try to go into an autobody shop and ask for high grid sandpaper, (1000+, something in the 2000s?) its not going to be too pricey at all.
Good review. 440A, B, and C are not the same. 440A is maybe ok, B is ok and C can be excellent. I believe as you probably know that only full width tang fixed blades and large or maybe medium folders can handle batoning.
Actually 440A is decent. You've seen the Noss Test on the Cheaper than Dirt Knife. That stuff is 440A. 440B, however, is rarely used. I remember some of the older Gerbers used 440B, but nowadays not too many companies or makers use 440B. 440C though, I have a really weird feeling about it being to brittle. The tip of my CBK broke when it was thrown into a tree and it is 440C. You can actually baton with any knife. Even a SAK.

I'm pretty sure 8cr13mov is more comparable to aus8.

the best version of the kershaw leek in my opinion is the kershaw leek black serrated.

I like the random leek with the nice s30v steel. Or the G-10 and s30v version.

what do you mean by random?

That's the model name.....
Random Leek...... search it.

haha oh ok

Ugggh! stainless steel handles look so ugly on knives. I would much rather prefer G-10 or FRN handles.

That works really well for sharpening, too.
1000 grit wet-dry sandpaper.

you say there are no washers on the meadowlark, but if you look through the holes for the pocket clip screws you can see bronze or copper washers.

hmmm... your right, there are washers. They are just recessed into the handles a bit. Thanks for pointing that out.
