the pitch goes down when you get your hand near the antenna because it's cheap fake theremin based on 555 circuitry, probably outputing a square wave signal
Sirant, I have owned mine for couple years now and actually purchased others for family and friends. I know quite a bit about these having worked with it and others over a while. This theremin does not require modification for it to function like a reguler theremin ( higher pitch as you get closer to it). You simply need to adjust the Pots in the front so that pitch is low, but audible when you have is far from the antenna. I have see however, modification with foil to battery to stop the sound.
Very good suggestions and demonstration. Actually, it is a sheer coincidence that I am seriously thinking of buying this very Japanese mini Theremin and to find this video of yours. I had a look on E-bay. It looks and sounds quite good.
Thank-you for taking your time to post this video.
Nope I meant "Flat-Head". I have never heard anyone say "slotted-head" screwdriver in my entire life. Kind of a small and pointless issue don't ya think?
I've been disappointing for the first time on tuning the gakken theremin until I saw your video, You gives me very helpful tips and now I can play tunes on it. Thanks very much
To get the Gakken theremin to go up in pitch when you move closer to the antenna (without the foil mod), you need to turn the right pot clockwise to expand the field out.
Without the foil, you're actually playing the minus zone of the field where everything is reversed. Expanding the field will get you in pluss zone.
The foil mod is allowing you to instantly expand the field. when you adjust the theremin as stated above, the foil mod helps even more.
Wow, thanks for the advice and comment! You are actually part of the reason I have developed this Theremin interest!(addiction??) Your theremin videos and tutorials are awesome! I can't wait to play around more with this theremin mini and actually try to find/buy a big one myself!
thanks for the video, man! I wouldn't have come across the foil mod otherwise, makes playing this much better & tuning far easier, cheers!

Nice review! I think the Theremin would be well suited to the sound of the Ukulele.
