i can only concede if the rappers you're talking about are commercial...a good portion of the indie rappers talk about real issues and aren't interested in cheap jigs for teenagers...however, certain commercial (commercial meaning they're signed to a major label) artists do have substance such as Common, Talib Kweli, Lupe Fiasco, Pharoahe Monch, etc...
