The cat was not really interested in a fight. Except for maybe big snakes, cats can wup snakes anyday. I have seen an ordinary house cat take on a cobra and win.
Despite the size difference and the snake's injuries, the cat eventually wimped out and let its prey slither away into the bushes. Therefore, snake wins on points.
Cat let the snake slither away for a very good reason. Probably the same reason they do it to rats.. trying to spread Toxoplasma. It has the effect of making rats unafraid of cat urine, which is probably how cats developed this instinct.

The cat actually won. He/she succeeded to pick the snake out from the grass and this made me laugh. The cat just got bored eventually and left.
