This is so cool! I never knew a creature like this existed... The biggest spider I've ever seen was an orange one. It looked like a crab and it was as big as a thumb. (Or at least I think it was a spider...)
i dont mean to be rude, but some people have no or little imagination or talent to come up with something interesting,i mean, whats the point to this?seriouly?what?PEACE
Only an idiot would believe that. Dumb ass those spiders don't have a heart beat and that is clearly some sort of editing, because if you look closely in 0:40 ,you'll see that there is no hole in the back of the spider.
@peinnagto21 Only an idiot would not believe it! The person who submitted it is an expert on bugs and insects from different places. At 0:40 it doesn't show because of camera motion blur.
@Anubis557 *ahem* Tell me have you seen this spider in real life? Have you study this kind of spider before? Let me tell you something my friend I've been in the Philippines for 13 years and I've seen this fascinating creature, but none of them has this so could "spider heart beating". And here is a fact, if you've seen some of this spider before up close you would say the video is fake. And omg people believe on what they see in the internet how pathetic.
@peinnagto21 I have studied this spider in real life. I took the video. That's my voice. I live in a low-tech environment similar to the Philippines, and there is no way I could fake something this delicate. Please just accept how beautiful life on this planet is, and please look more closely at spiders so you can see their hearts.
@memutic wow!!! shame on you, apparently your filling up all this viewers with lies because some of them haven't seen this kind of spider before and your taking advantage on them. Unlike you and me, we both seen this spider before and we both know that they don't have this hole in their back. Anyways there is no point of arguing with you, go ahead and fill up all the people's head with lies and not the fact. Ain't my fault too many people are now stupid.
@blakeoleary123 You are definitely the only one that reallises this. You are making your own reallity, and that's awesome! But, ef spiders have no heaths, hwæth pushes theyre bloot aboout in theyre bodyes, ðenn?
@memutic Insects have neither red blood cells nor a closed circulatory system. Nearly all non-aquatic insects deliver oxygen to their cells (and remove CO2) through micro-tubules called "tracheoles" that join up to larger passages connecting to openings ("spiracles") in their body wall. Their "blood" (called "hemolymph") does not carry oxygen, except in some aquatic insect groups.
@blakeoleary123 As for having a "heart," they can be said to have one only in the most general sense. Imagine a flute made out of rubber that you spit liquid into while squeezing it--a flexible tube with numerous holes all along its length. That is the only blood vessel in an insect body, and since it pulses rhythmically, it's called a "heart." Technically, it's called the "dorsal aorta," which is a better analogy, really, since it's more of a vessel than a muscular organ.
@blakeoleary123 So, ultimately, they have neither lungs nor a true circulatory system; nutrients flow freely in the hemolymph, which is basically swirled in the body due to the pulsing of the aorta, and oxygen is delivered mostly by diffusion from the outside, through tubes, with a little supplementary assistance through body movements (e.g., pumping the abdomen to help force air in and out).
@blakeoleary123 What authority would you believe besides yourself? Can I offer you a scientific citation? RS Wilson, 1967 "The heartbeat of the spider, Heteropoda venatoria." From the abstract: "The structure and innervation of the heart is examined, and the presence of a dorsal cardiac nerve is reported for the first time." Or how about JW Sanr 1969: "Ultrastructure and function of an insect heart"? Tough for you to stand up to these guys! Let's have some citations for your version of things!
@memutic No its not tough atall. re-read my previous comments and you'll find that there was no need for you to post that comment as you've just repeated and sumarised what i previously mentioned. So, lets have you re-read my comments (without skipping half of them and and you'll realise i was in turn I somewhat agreeing with you), so we can hear your citations for your version of things ;) And try not to repeat my comment this time, k Spiderman ;)
@blakeoleary123 You said they don't have hearts. I showed you two articles that say insects and spiders have hearts. I read your cut-and-paste article from "The Straight Dope," but "Doug" is not a scientific authority. Let's wait till "Doug" publishes a scientific paper with evidence to support his beliefs. I used to correct papers for Anat/Phys, and I can spot a copy-and-paste job a mile away. Nice try, but you earn an "F" in arachnology.
@memutic Ofcoasre I copyed it, if i wanted it to be hidden i would have re-wrote it myself, as i am not infact a science teacher, professer, biology intusiast, or zoologist. Like many people i refere to the web as a sorce of information, which i'm sure you do too. I also like to express my opinions as did your referenced science 'guys', I may have been wrong, but this is what i was taught this in school. I to have an interest in zoology and insect photography, be-it small compared to
@blakeoleary123 yours. but rather than be somwhat agressive to your subscribers, how about comeoff as a nice guy, I am subscribed to you, and will continue to stay, as i admire the work you do, but not the style in which you interact with the other people which express their opinions, whether it be wrong or right.
@blakeoleary123 I'm encouraging you to cite your sources so you can develop into a better arguer. "It's my opinion" just doesn't stand up to THE REALITY OF THE SPIDER UNIVERSE. I'm speaking on behalf of the spiders here, and if I offend you by correcting your misrepresentations of reality, then I'm afraid I can't accommodate you.
@memutic Spiders don't pump or "push" blood around their bodies, they don't have hearts and the don't breath. Instead oxygen enters through small pores in the bodies which moves through the blood by diffusion, no muscles required
@jimjamgumbob This is a tough crowd here at this video. Please try using Google Scholar to read some peer-reviewed scientific articles, or at the very least, a textbook. Your information is 100% correct for INSECTS, but this is an ARACHNID. Different creature, different system.
