We are having bad raccoon problems here. They climb the fence, unlatch the pen door, go into the duck pen and just kill the ducks, don't eat them, just leave them laying around. Last year one attacked my cat and mega-bucks to the vet later she's o.k. I don't agree with randomly killing and am glad you are giving this one a chance, but these babies can be more than just a pest.
I myself vote for relocating and releasing these animals, but it doesn't bother me if other people shoot ratcoons, nor would I lose ny sleep if I had to shoot one.
he was like siting there looking at them like just let me go their not as smart as humans or not as understanding of us we feel the same way when we get looked up "just let me out" i have a family that comes up to my door and i feed them if am siting out their thy will just come up and eat and sometimes just look over at me and if i stand up thy will look or move away and if i walk to them thy will just run away without making a noise ones where i live are kool and more scared of me then i am
My sister rescues baby raccoons and prepares them to live back in the wild..There very smart and get into everything all I can do is laugh at them tho... there so damn cute ! Ty for having a heart and relesing them back in there enviroment : ) glad to see some good guys .
@gregff9966 This was in Burbank. They told us to take it about 2 miles from where we trapped it. My buddy works for water and power so they didnt give us any crap.
@rompn4x Thats cool, Im not sure what the fine is around here for relocating animals is. Anything like raccoons, skunks, oposum, ect are concidered pest and we are not supposed to let them go.
i got one in a cage right now, mine seems calm though. im gonna release mine tomorrow. i know they hiss and growl and jump at you but i dont think it going to be as interesting as releasing a skunk.

yes set up a live trap with a can of fish in side. i live on a farm i shot 3 raccoons with my m44 mosin nagant . the raccoons faces blew in chunks . i used a live trap it came in handy + easy to use and wait the next day there's the target in the live trap . No joke . it works . shot it with a 22 rifle i shot the cage on accident and the Cage got runed i had to buy a new one . because the bolt action destroyed the live trap . any questions pleas don't hesitate
You indirectly killed the raccoon by deporting it. The same is done in Genocide, they split up familys, relocate them and those left deserted die of Starvation and Dehydration, no matter what age/experience!
Thank you for not hurting him. They are not pests they live here with us and we move in on them.Thank you so much for letting him go and you were so gentle as well
I couldn't bring myself to killing it... Neither did my friend why kill it over his lawn.... The animal regulations told us to just release them about 2 miles from his house.

Nice to see people dealing with raccoons in a humane way. Not just killing it with joy. Thanks

@limitedplay I just can't kill something that 1 didn't do anything to me and 2 would probably not attack me unless cornered. Whats the point.

Put a stick through the cage dude, to hold it open, 'cause if he gets a hold of you,
getting to the er will be the least of your problems. coons are a problem. that's
why we have Walkers, B+Ts, Red bones, Blue tics, and curs.....

Should have killed it. By letting it go your just giving someone else the problem.
I would be mad if I saw someone letting a raccoon loose around my property.
gregff9966 1 year ago
@gregff9966 Released it in the mountains. This is what animal regulations told us to do if we caught it.
rompn4x 1 year ago
@rompn4x Thats good, at least theres nothing it can destroy in the mountains.
Were are you from? Animal regulations around here tell us its illegal to trap a raccoon and let it loose.

Honey, why would he trap him and not let him go?

Some people would just kill them. Thats why ncladyKarol called him humane. Don't call people honey its insulting!

Im not disagree with your statement, but why is it insulting to call someone honey??

Great to see you that you did the stand-up thing! It is easy for some to just kill the pesky creature rather than trap and release it elsewhere.

"Elsewhere" = possibly introducing pest into previously non-infested area
in uk, it is illegal to trap in cages, then re-locate pest in this manner
in our case, the totally destructive, predatory, disease carrying grey squirell, which has decimated our indigenous,
herbivorous Red Squirell almost to extinction
-be responsible

In this case Instinct doesn't prevail.

I think you need to look at the Genocide Convention's language. I don't see this word used for anything other than people in that legal definition.
