I had an earlier post based on a comparison between this and stereolab. Due to her tragic and untimely death I wish to withdraw it. This music will always speak volumes against the mainstream drivel we are subjected to on a daily basis. Rest in peace.
You guys should watch the video I did for Broadcast's "Lunch Hour Pops": watch?v=AyIf8Uk_fZU
If there's anything that will go well together its Trish Keenan and The Red Balloon. I did a tribute in memory of the beautiful and most amazingly Trish after her passing.
Her voice is so...smooth..had the sort of vintage feeling to it..their the kind of stuff hipsters would say "youve probably never heard of it"" to people...anyway fuck hipsters, i love broadcast.
I remember reading an interview with Trish Keenan where she mentioned that she noticed that she used the words "let go" a lot in writing lyrics and then thinking about my brother who died of cancer at 48 and the doctor holding his hand in the last half hour and saying: "hard isn't it? letting go" and thinking "she's letting go". She was still alive then. (4 years ago I wrote; "this is the best song ever". I still stand by that)
don't know about all the below, but when I first heard this tune it was one of the clearest memories I have where a singer wasn't just singing a song, it felt more like a conversation with a close friend, whispering an age old and intimate secret, directly to me. Thanks Trish, thanks Broadcast.
Very sorry indeed to hear about Trish. My condolences to those who knew her well. I directed this video and she was a model of integrity and grace, during what turned out to be a difficult shoot, edit and aftermath. There was a lot of pressure on the band at the time, piled on from what I can only describe as 'hard-bitten management'.
@LinJapanese -you have excellent taste in music. i love that song too. It's the 60s-ish sound and original lyrical composition of Broadcast that I just adore. America's Boy is a great song too. ...and oh my, Tears in the Typing Pool. Eternal blessings to you Trish.
Such a beautiful song - such a glorious voice. Rest in Peace Trish. In years and decades time you will be loved and remembered as someone very special.
I am so sad to have heard the terrible news. Its not how long one lives that determines how we remember them but how much they achieved and what they left us. I am so sorry to her family who I am sure would have wanted so much more of her living talent. Sleep sweetly.
such sad news. broadcast are/will stay a very special band. trish has a totally unique and beautiful voice. i am very sad to hear of her untimely passing. my thoughts are with all those close to her at this time.
Starting listening to all these guys in Warp, Stones Throw, etc. when I was 10. And when I heard Trish died I was very sad, I kind of grew up to this music.

I just found out about this group through stereolab, and I F-ing love them!
Me reading about the band on Wiki: ''using many electronic effects. It was also reminiscent of Stereolab.'' Nice!
''The band's style is a mixture of electronic sounds and Keenan's 1960s-influenced vocals.'' Awesome! I love the 60's.
Goes on reading...
''Lead singer Trish Keenan died of pneumonia on 14 January 2011 at the age of 42.''
Why must this always happen...? WHY!!!
