I'm only fifteen, but as a hearing person, I'm starting to learn sign language because my mother is slowly going deaf. I like watching videos like this, where the signing and the captions meet up because it helps me associate the meaning of the sign with the word or words it means. Thank you for posting these.

Ghetto is an poor choice of words, but I suggest the context it is used regarding deaf people, is in that the deaf are segregated/isolated by the fact they sign, stay in one group, and are deaf away from the 'mainstream. Perhaps Mom wanted what most Mom's want you part of the 'mainstream'. I'm late deafened MY mother was very very anti me signing and very much anti me mixing with other deaf people, because she truly believed I would be living in an 'ghetto' where only the deaf live ... apart.
