This is one of the most inspirational songs I've heard and it certainly addresses the loneliness that so many seniors experience. I also put together a video with this song and received lots of emails from people whose heartstrings it also tugged at. A big thank you for sharing this wonderful song from your mother. It is absolutely beautiful.
Oh man...I just worked three days in a row of 13 hour shifts at our nursing home and I was feeling so fried...and then this beautiful song broke through my numbness and I just cried. Thank you thank you thank you.....for waking me up again.
Hello there. I am Brian, a 3rd year student nurse in Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (University of Malaysia Sarawak). The nursing students in the my university are organising an international nursing students' conference next year and we would like to play this video for the conference n_n
Very beautiful song and thought provoking. I am pursuing my cna and think it is a shame people put their own family member in a nursing home and hardly visit. It is important that people who love and appreciate the elderly to pursue a cna/geriatric care.
Oh I'm tearing up right now. This video is really lovely.
I'm thinking about volunteering at a hospice because I really want to help people who need it. But I'm kind of scared of what the atmosphere will be like and I don't know if I can handle it. But I truly want to care for them..
Great video! Thank you so much for putting this together. I am the founder of caregiverpath com and am going to put this on my web site! I currently take care of my husband and in the last couple years took care of both of my parents. What in incredible honor it is and was! This video is great for both professional caregivers and family caregivers. Thanks again, you have the gift of song!
the elder ones have to get our full respect. they`ve done so much for us in the past!!! not to forget the two world wars and many other disasters that happened to them!!! what would be with us today without them?
This song is so beautiful. It brought me to tears. I worked at an assisted living community and the residents weren't just patients to me, they were my friends. I just started nursing school and I really want to work in the geriatric field. This song reminds me how important it is for us to not only love and care for older adults, but also to be their advocates and their voice. Thank you for sharing this.
Thank you for this. I work in a nursing home and with the stresses of my job it is so easy to lose sight of why I go to work every day. The elderly will touch your heart in so many ways if you just give them the love and respect that we all need. After a week that has made me want to give up on my job completely, this has brought me to tears and reminded me why I love my job...and more importantly my residents. Thank you for voicing what so many of our residents can't.
@Jaspersgirl06 Thank you so much for your kind words! You've now moved me to tears! This is the *exact* reason I've shared my mothers song - to * re-inspire* those who need it! I'm emailing your comment to my mother right now so she can see how this song has moved you.
@Baybeebear82 The first time I heard this song was in an Eden Alternative workshop 12 years ago. As a director, I have used this song many times. Each time I hear it, my eyes still well. In earlier days I dubbed the music over videos of my staff giving care and there was seldom a dry eye in the house. Such a beautiful song and spirit that wrote it. Thank you.
@grantlee561 That's great! Glad the song has moved you. Anyone can hear it an be touched but when you work with the elderly it takes on a whole new meaning. Thank you so much for the comments. I always forward them to my mom so she can see just how many people have been moved by this.
Love this. I deliver education to care home staff in Scotland. One of my projects is on dignity in care and would love to use this as part of the training sessions. I think it would tug at a few heart strings and make carrs think . Are you happy for me to use it.
Please do! That's why this song was written ~ To share it with people who work with the elderly, those who have loved ones in nursing homes, and for those special caregivers who are with them daily!
Hi-I am a hospice nurse preparing a presentation about how to communicate with folks with dementia-I would truly be honored to close my presentation with this video. May I please? by grace alone, betty moore-bell
I think that would be fantastic Betty! Just got the okay from my mother and she said "absolutely with my compliments!" Just curious where are you located?
I am in Florence, SC and I have played and played and played this dozens of times since I located it! It touches a place that is very humbling, reminding that being able to care for others is a gift. The presentation I am preparing is on communicating with folks with dementia and this will be a perfect closing. I will credit you/your mother if you will share appropriate info. Thank you so much! by grace alone, betty
Thanks so much for all the sweet comments and emails. I've finally corrected my email notifications so I'll know immediately when someone asks a question!
Hi I am nurse in scotland . My job is educating staff in care homes I have nursed for 30 years and feel dignity in caring is missing. My plan is to bring it back I listened to your video and was really moved by it . I would love to use it as part of my training package . Is this something i could buy or upload for use.
i have such a love for elderly people. I've worked in hospitals literally all my life *since 6th grade* and absolutely have a whole different respecet for the elderly. I literally love and cared for them as though each and everyone one of them were my grandparent. I've volunteered at nursing homes too because I just have this amazing connection with them and hate to see them lonely so we play games and do whatever they want. Great video! I'm very appreciative for it. 5 stars*****
