  • how did you get the water in?

  • If we could only get our pond excavators to move that fast!!!! ;)

If you build another pond, try compacting the base with something other than the tracks of the excavator. You will get more psi and a better seal with less water loss due to seepage. This also tends to minimize cattails and rushes that can choke a pond out.

  • so, you dont need a liner? how did you get it to fill up with water.. im trying to make one at my house and i dont know where to start. please help!

  • great video, but u couldnt have picted more annoying music..lol

  • are those ginney heads

  • I would like to build a large pond on my property someday, how much did this cost you?

  • this video is cool as shit..i love the how machine makes quick work of the trees and just fucks up everything in its path. badass

  • @Bbfishman I'm with you. Enjoy!

  • @combatvetlawstudent

    Brings a smile, thanks!

  • Gorgeous!!

  • @guiganol

    Many thanks .Enjoy!

  • How big is the pond? It looks to be far less than an acre, but I could be wrong. Is it big enough to sustain a largemouth bass population, or will you have to conintually restock?

  • ya its big enough to hold a bass population if u catch and release but ull occasionaly have to restock.....my parents need to buy more land and build a pond =D

  • Good idea and good eating, have fun.

  • So about how far down is the water table there? Is the pond level the same as the water table, or did it just natural fill up and hold water? about how deep?

    Thanks

  • This pond could be called a "sky" pond. I refer to it more as a farm pond with a clay base it was filled from the weather, no springs ground water was discovered in digging it. A larger pond I had dug hit a few little springs about 5' down and was filled mostly by runoff and weather. This property is on the top of a moraine from a glacier retreat about 16,000 years ago. Ground is loam but mostly clay - perfect to hold the water, but dry weather season evaporation lowers the pond level.

  • Fathead Minnows to feed Large Mouth Bass and Channel Catfish, so they don't eat many of the Hybrid Bluegill. The only fish not caught and fried are the Fathead Minnows. Large Mouth Bass, Channel Cats and Bluegill (panfish) are good for fishing sport and eating. It's good your supplier is close to you. You may need to supplement feed the fish in a new pond. They like to feed at dusk. I use a fish chow, but others have used dry cat food. There is a recommended stocking count for each fish.

  • Hybrid Bluegill, so they do not over populate; Large Mouth Bass and Fathead Minnows. In a larger pond, I have stocked Channel Catfish with the others mentioned.
