  • I used a heat gun on my pain and it stripped off like paper then I sanded the primer off lol great job looks really nice !

  • That is awesome!

  • Holy tits.. I hand sanded my guitar and it was a massive BITCH. Took me several days to do it.

  • my ashton guitar is blue i stripped it down too

  • is a bullet o affinity body?

  • @vincita94 yeah mate

  • TEXAS FLOOD!! Great video...Put some videos up!

  • I recommend that you stain with water-based stain and then use high-gloss lacquer. Both available at HD. Polyurethane is softer and can't be buffed to the same high gloss finish that lacquer can.You did such beautiful work: installing those Fender ''Noiseless'' pick-ups is a RIGHTEOUS mod! And I LOVE the decal! You deserve to have a deep deep glass-like finish to your guitar that only lacquer can achieve.BTW those modern Squire finishes CAN be stripped with ''Air Craft'' stripper (auto supply).

  • pheww... this just inspierd me :) can u paint the pick up covers without much frustration?

  • Awesome! I'm in the process of doing the exact same thing to my Squier and now that I've seen your video I now know how mine shold look. If it turns out as nice as yours I'll be thrilled. Good job!

  • @FullBlownRedneck Good luck man! remember to TAKE YOU TIME! dont rush it :)

  • sweet!! I repainted one myself, it's really fun.

What kind of paint were u using? cause i'm thinking of making a lenny replica so i'll be needing a brown transparant paint, kind of like yours ;)

  • @sstooge cabots stain, then coated in cabots polyurethane

  • @FrancesBrookshire775 NO YOU CANT ITS A VIRUS

  • looks great. I have always wanted to get an Artic white strat, put a pearl pick gaurd on it, maple neck, and change the hardware to gold.. dream guitar :(

  • @scotty688 follow your dream and do it!

  • could you please point me in the direction of a fender decal. i seriously cant find any. please help. its the last thing i need!1 i live in the uk and theres nothing on ebay. any specialist sites etc? please help me find one thanks!

  • @sxephll yeah sure, ill message you! so check!

  • Nice work! The new color is awesome! Whats the model of the Squier?

  • @MrSvetoslavMironov Thanks man means alot its a Bullet strat, btw check out my new vid, with the new neck

  • CHECK NEW VID FOR NEW PICS

  • song??

  • If i have a Squier strat with 3 single coils and wanna fit a Humbucker in the bridge position would i have to rout the body? cus i saw that your guitar could prolly fit a humbucker, i already have the HSS pickguard =]

Do all Squier Strats have that?

  • wow plain wood looking guitars bore the hell out of me xD

  • nice work!

  • nice work on the guitar, man! personally, i might have installed a black pickguard, but still, good job with the guitar.

  • Nice work:)

  • squire use multiple pieces of timber joined together as you can see on yours, as fender usually use one, exept for things like bookmatched flame maple etc... and if anyone else trys this project, its probably better for the guitar if you use a water based finnishing product, it makes it easier for the timber of the guitar to breath and lets the timber age instead of being sealed inside an air tight coffin of spray.

  • I stripped a squire before, the paint is tougher than battle armor

  • Hey, great job. I am just starting a refinish on a Squier Bullet that was blue like yours. Check mine out.

  • very nice im almost in the same proyect but i wont remove the paint of the squier cus is vintage white and i like that color but i got an scalloped fender neck and all put 2 HS3 dimarzios :D

  • sound test is up!

  • @whi0019 where? cant find it!

  • @haiderdrexel if your talking about the sound test, it was crap haha so ill make a new one tonight

  • ive got a squier that i want to upgrade, i was thinking of putting hot rails pickup in the bridge and a texas special in the neck, idk about the middle pickup yet but anyway how hard is it to replace the electronics in it too bc i know that squier comes with crappy electronics in it which would affect the sound. plus how were u able to put a 60's neck on it, i thought the holes were different? anyway id love to see ur finished product and sound review

  • @bcarman14 they thanks for watching, umm i didnt replace the electronics under the scratch plate and i only think it would be a minor improvement if i did, i get the SLIGHTEST bit of hum because of it but u dont notice it at all. yes the holes were different what i did was i got some wood filler and filled in the old holes then drilled some new ones and i have never had a problem with it! i will make a video today of the finale product it has changed since this video

  • @whi0019 alright sweet i look forward to seeing the finished project, mostly bc i feel like i need a little reassurance mine wont turn out to be a piece of crap haha

  • how much for those pickups??

  • When I sanded mine down wanting a similar finish, i found that the arm rest showed the layerd ply wood wasnt to happy.

  • @Tyranidman10 LOL TRUE

  • Hey this project is awesome....pls tell my where you get this FENDER sticker on your neck????? cheers dude!!!

  • nice

  • i dont know whats the difeerence between a fender and a squier body? what makes it diferent? i wanna buy a squier and put some fender stuffs to make a John Mayer $1500 usd similar guitar....but im just playing guitar for a year now and i cannot caught the diference on tones and playing styles.....some advice will appreciated. thx.

  • @kartman74usa Hey cheers for watching! the Fender body is a solid one piece made out of a hard wood like Mahogany, whilst a squire body i usally 3 piece giving a softer tone and is made out of cheaper woods

  • @whi0019 actually fender uses alder for most of it stratocasters. there are some made of swamp ash and other woods. but the quality of the wood they use for fenders is way better.

    btw. nice project. thumbs up!

  • @whi0019 Affinity and Bullet Strats are made of Alder (Alder does not grow in Asia, so it's the same stuff here), but are slightly thinner. Mine is a two-piece Alder body that I heavily modded. Strangely more expensive Squiers are made of Agathis, a pine relative or are made of ply wood. They put Duncan Designed pickups and better switches/pots and tuners... but skimp on the body wood. I'd rather start with a better body and put good stuff in it.

  • @whi0019

I don't know of many mahogany Fenders. Ash or Alder. A lot of Squier's are Alder just like regular Fenders.

  • @kartman74usa dont forget about what whi0019 mentioned, but there's also this.. the Real deal is made in the US the Squier has "made in China' printed on it's back

  • @kartman74usa Squiers are made out of basswood a cheaper wood while Fenders American/Mexicans are made out of Alder

  • I'm currently refinishing a '03 squier affinity and right now i'm at the step seen at 1:43. What was done to take it from how it looks there to how it looks in the picture at 1:45.

  • @wad5019 Hey thanks for watching, Well the squire had some sort of coating on it at 1:43 so when just kept sanding and it turned out like 1 45, there were no special techniques used at all, Good Luck!

  • nice job i enjoyed this video where did you get the fender decal?

  • @PrettyDisease You can just run a Google search. People overseas sell them, but Fender ordered eBay to stop allowing people to sell them there. Fender has always been hardcore about fakes and has taken legal action against people making waterslide decals that are exact replicas of the real ones. There were even 'insiders' who worked for Fender selling them on the side for big bucks.

  • hey do fender guitars. Fenders i mean not squires no affence to anyone but would a HSS highway 1 stratocaster have a HH routing inside some answer me plz

  • not really none of the strats have true HH routing its more like dog-ear P-90 on top.

  • looks good, come by and check mine out.

  • Looks cool, only problem is that you can see that the body is actually three bits of wood glued together and not a solid body. Still pretty cool though.

  • post a demo

  • im doing the same project with my son. same guitar except black . how difficult was it to strip all the blue off ? and what tips do u have now (looking back)

  • @cgspivey71 if u are going to do the project again try to use a palm sander if u had proplumbs

  • @cgspivey71 the paint stripping was hard at the start because we had the wrong paint stripper, but when we got really strong stuff it came off like butter

  • Nice guitar ! I want to refinish one soon !

    Thanks...

  • cool, nice awesome sound and all that!

How long did that take ?!?

  • Hey it took around a week but over time i improved it like bought a Fender 60s reissue neck

  • sound??

  • wow it looks really good i think im gunna do that to my squire

  • Dude, I think that looks sweet. And you even put it to the right music also!

  • Hey Guys i just bought a new neck for this thing!!! dont worry there will be a sound demo soon!!!

  • please play metallica Nothing else matter

  • ill only play a bit of it

  • ok thx

  • No, Blues. Nothing else matter.

  • I am doing the same thing with my squier!!!

  • yeh its a fun thing to do haha and they sound fantastic

  • yall did a damn good job

i hate staining it never comes out right for me

  • haha thanks alot, um yeah just practice it i guess haha ,good luck

  • See my vid: I swear it's a case...

  • it looks fantastic!

  • did you put finish on before you put on the decal too??? cuz i sanded squier off and dont know whether or not to put clear on before and after or just after\

  • no i sanded it the wiped the service, the stuck on the decale then the clear coat on top

  • is it like a sticker that you finish over or what is it?

  • yeh thats what it is,then i sprayed a clear gloss coat over, i recomend dulux

  • it's a beauty

  • hey where do you get the fender decals???if you cant get them online i will buy one from you if you can get another

  • i got mine off ebay it was originaly for a car but i asked for it to be cut to 4 cm , ask a decal making shop

  • How shall i sand my neck and headstock since it has no paint on?

  • just use sand paper but dont sand the fret board

  • Help! i have sanded my guitar so there is no more paint but i think there is some sort of glue on top of the wood shall i remove it or not!?!

  • yes you should remove to just the bare wood. glad to answer any more questions

  • yeh i had this layer as well dw about it just sand it off

  • I must tell that i hate fender's strats, but you made it... You put that horrible piece of wood in her place.

    Great job!

  • coool dude :) good job

  • awesome work, dude. it made me want to do something like that in my squier. as I see you understand a little bit about wood works. my squier has a maple neck, and i really like it, but its easy to realize that the wood is almost naked, its a very white and not bright wood, its not like those fender necks which are very bright, very beautiful. do you know if there is some way of making my neck look better, like a real fender neck? cheers

  • Well.

Good pickups cannot cover the fact that the body is made of cheap pine. That must have sounded fucking aweful. Why even put the fender logo on it?

  • trust me it sounds insane better than my teachers mexican strat, and the logo was for a bit of fun

  • don't ever ever paint a guitar with a brush

  • its not paint its stain which does not streak it sinks into the body

  • that must of sucked. I use a sander for my guitar projects and that takes long enough. That must of took forever. Nice job though.

  • haha no it dident

  • oh yeh i used an orbit sander to

  • you forgot to thanks SRV, but SICK guitar. it's beautiful

  • thanks alot

  • Very ambitous project. Looks good! I would never have the nerve to start something like that. :)

  • haha thaks well it was a risk but yeh it sounds sick and i love it. :)

  • what song is this??

  • Texas Flood by Stevie Ray Vaughn

  • you know its funny, back in the 70's we couldn't get anything but clear finish teles and strats... We would have really liked some blue paint back in Nam...

  • well what ever works best :)

  • Thats really cool. The guitar looks like a million bucks.

How strong of a paint stipper did you have to use? Some strats and teles (particularaly squiers)use really really thick paint. I wouldn't mind stripping the paint off my Mexican tele just to paint it white.

  • You could paint over it. David Gilmour did that with the Black Strat.

  • Yeah,

I guess the real question remains to be asked.

How much does painting a guitar cost?

  • well stain cost $20 for 1 litre(easly enough) and $10 per can ,need 2) for gloss, paint stripper i dont know the price of.

  • Yeah, I think you can use automotive grade paint, and I am considering customizing a strat, but I don't know how feasible painting it is.

  • u and i have the same Les paul

  • haha cool ;)

and nice song choice by the way

  • around $60

  • hey thats alot for the comment,we had paint stripper around the house but it wasen nere strongernuff so we got some Poly Stripper fast acting and that peeled it right off.

    Good luck with the tele:)

  • What was the brand of your poly Stripper?

  • hey, why didnt you intsalled the mics yourself, I thought it was hard until I did it and it was very easy and fun. Seems like a three piece body.

Well I liked the result a lot, but blue was also nice eh!

    cheers

  • nice work. Just a litte correction: It´s spelt SquiER, not squire.

  • haha thx for that :S

  • sick

  • even tho i know nothing about guitars

    nice vid awesome job

    good editing
