@Writermist: Left, (or Right if flying to the left) and yes, you have to do it rythimatically. Getting the item to hold while flying is different. You need to press the direction to lift off AS SOON as you pick up the item. It's harder to time this with Mario than Luigi, but I've mastered this trick regardless.

You can also carry a baby Yoshi while flying instead of just shells. Also, you can change direction during cape flight, but that's a bit tricky to do.

a cool glitch: land on an enemy while cape gliding! You will squish it! also koopas and goombas! Even if the goombas aren´t squishable!

Once I tried to tie the two ends of a sheet on my feet, hold the two ends of it and jump the stairs. I can not believe I managed to glide a bit. Likewise, the Cape Mario!

Not really, Lakitu's cloud and Balloon Mario/Luigi cannot speed up when holding Left + Right like the SNES version does. There's loads of minor changse in my Changes from SNES to GBA video series.

Yeah, but you can tell it's pretty close. I mean, I don't lke some of the changes they've made (because I like the original better), and I can tell what they are, but if you look closely, you'll see a lot of minor similarities.

@carmanino It's when you press left and right at the same time. It's almost impossible to do on a real console with a controller but it's easy on an emulator on which you can use a keyboard, although in some emulators you can disable the left+right and up+down combinations.

There are actually a lot of changes, for instance you do not go to small mario from having a cape or a fire flower when you take damage, you pass through big mario first.

So Nintendo DID really port the cape in this game and remade it, but didn't remade the glitches! Otherwise they would remove the glitches since they know about it!

@jakepirrazo no glitch guys. it is game physics. try any world with a pink triangle to walk up the wall. put your yoshi there, walk up, jump, to fly down on yoshi, then you can fly like this with yosh. In some levels you even need to to it or you loose your boo-wearing friend (so it is not a glitch)

I found a glitch on how to die and win at the same time! WARNIN I TURNED OFF MY GAME WHEN THIS HAPPENED SO DO AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!! Note this is hard to do. to do it go to cheese bridge area now be on yoshi and get to the end near that goal thing jump from the bottem and dont land on the platform touch the bar you will hear the music play but you will fall and die! that last level was the last level of the secret world which wasn't hard and you could save you score in that world from then...

(i was hoping to get 999 lives after that but it wasn't...)

ps:now i have 999 lives and 9999990 score was pretty hard but you just need to do bowser castle with luigi and 2 capes and then do only that bridge level and fly over the first exit but use the second one (before that is a plateau with a moon which gives 1, 3 or 5 lives :) )

I found an easier way to get 999 lives. Do you know that top secret house? Hit the middle box and you'll get a yoshi. Leave that level and then play it again. The next time you hit the middle box, u'll get a life. Leave the level, start again and hit the middle box to get another time. And then do this again. I did this 999 times!

When you flew over the finish line in Yoshi's Island 2, is that something you needed to carry the koopa shell to do? Or is it always possible? (If so that's a regression from the SNES version)

I'm also noticing that when flying with Yoshi he's flipping back and forth. Is this the glitched sprite animation or something you have to do manually to keep flying?

I'm also noticing that the restrictions on what you can do with a cape in the GBA version seems to be more liberal than in the original.
