Dead Memories is NOTHING like this, and Billy would have sued years ago if he agreed with you. I'm guessing you think Slipknot stole the riff because both songs contain pinch harmonics. i love how you get thumbed down for saying the truth, has anybody even listened to james iha's new band? a load of pop shit that disrespects his real talents, why couldn't he just get over himself the way corgan should and reunite, it would be better than having christmas for a whole year round...together they were 1 of the best bands to ever form
well there is something wrong with power pop if you dont like it......
its good somebody does i suppose ; )
I mean really, perfect circle were much more original than tinted windows and even that went a bit stale, james is wasting his talent only in "my opinion" and the opinions of many many others, but its cool that you like it mate, each to there own! :D
DO you mean that high pitched squeal? That's a Digitech Whammy... $200... pretty cool.. octave bender.... really bad tracking tho but it's really the only whammy pedal out there.
It isn't very good at tracking notes and you'll hear a lot of warbling.
Look up some demos here, other than that it's great for squealing pig noises other than that not much of another use, chorus and harmonies that track equally as bad.
But a decent pedal, for the value $200 is way too much tho.
ANd dude look at 1:44 or so, one second later when James is four feet from the mic the backup starts... unless he ran up to the mic really fast while playing the guitar and start.
No dude I use to think it was James but I've seen clips where the back up vocals are singing in that same terrible out-of-pitchness when James was like ten feet away from the mic.
It doesn't sound like James.... look at 1:03 on this vid.
james gets the high pitched sound with a whammy pedal, billy's tone is very complex, the guitars, pickups, amps, tubes and alot of pedals all combine to get his tone.
You're, meaning you are, along with both, states that, you are both idiots. Meaning me and jimgspank. I would have guessed that you grasped the English language. I was wrong.

Sure Billy now a days it the most important member - playing guitar and bass on every track on "zeiglist" but this is only because he is completely insane and reformed a band without it's original members, and his notions of being the only real member of the band don't disclude previous recordings.

dude I'm telling you that this whole "billy & jimmy" thing is new founded. Yes Billy Corgan was the lead singer and frontman for the band, but Jimmy chamberlin was always concidered the least important member. You may think that drumming is as important as doing lead guitar and vocals because it's just as loud; but I assure you doing rhythm guitar and bass are equally as important. And Gish and Pierces irocot had ida and d'arcy doing those + backup vocals.
Wow you really don't know what you're talking about at ALL. By all accounts, Jimmy is #2 in command and, by Billy's own admission, the most talented member of the band. Billy REALLY struggled during the Adore sessions without Jimmy and almost scrapped the sessions altogether.
What's sad is that some people on here probably take your ignorant statements for truth.
Daydream... written by Billy, Billy asked D'arcy to sing because he thought it was more of a feminine sounding song. That was some studio magic by Butch, because D'arcy sucks big time at singing. Tone deaf.
Billy made all of Zeitgeist on his own with Jimmy. Same with Siamese Dream. James and D'Arcy basically were apart just to play it live. As for Mellon Collie, James put some stuff in it, but D'Arcy again didn't put much if anything into it. She played on the album what Billy made for her. There was only a drum machine in the album of Adore. In then end, James and D'Arcy just weren't that important. No offense to them because I like them, but they just weren't that important next to Billy and Jim.
listen dude I spent too much time recently listening to the vocals of siamese dream and mellon collie and I will tell you that D'arcy and James Ida sing backup vocals, not just Billy corgan doing it like on Zeiglist. Also, there were a few songs on Mellon Collie that used a drum machine, and James Ida's guitar sound is completely signiture and billy corgan defeinately didn't write it..
I also doubt Billy corgan actually wrote the basslines. Do you really think a person who plays bass would, over the course of 10 years, Not write any of her own basslines? I highly doubt billy corgan wrote these lyrics either (well not that he didn't, but you know, ALL of them). I really think the attitude of "billy and jimmy are everything" came around the time billy corgan wanted to reform the band. The smashing pumpkins ended in 2000.
ok more point in case - that 7 minute song after disarm on siamese. Listen to the vocals. Billy corgan may do lead vocals but those backup vocals are D'arcy. I've heard Billy recorded the basslines because it was easy, but maybe James Ida threw in some of those '40 guitar lines', you never know. Jimmy Chamberlin was just a drummer and when they were really big he was concidered teh LEAST important part of the group.
Set guitar phasers to epic.

dude I'm telling you that this whole "billy & jimmy" thing is new founded. Yes Billy Corgan was the lead singer and frontman for the band, but Jimmy chamberlin was always concidered the least important member. You may think that drumming is as important as doing lead guitar and vocals because it's just as loud; but I assure you doing rhythm guitar and bass are equally as important. And Gish and Pierces irocot had ida and d'arcy doing those + backup vocals.

well Billy said he wrote the Rhythm Guitar and Bass parts. And the other 2 didn't say anything to the contrary.
I'm not saying he did or didn't. But until the other say something that's how it stands.
