Great movie. Sadly the critic did not like it. But Audience fell for this beautiful movie based on a great book. The director did not really followed the book but he concentrated to the most important feelings of the two character in a most passionate and powerful rendition of young love in a movie screen. AND IT DID WORK! Powerful movie indeed.
Movie title and the song title are the same. The movie is HORRIBLE, but the beautiful shots of Brooke during the staircase scene was worth making the whole film. But you can see that here.
Come on. I know it seems odd that the mother is watching, and admittedly, its pretty creepy. Perhaps it should have been done differently, but I always imagined that she was watching with that dazed, happy look on her face because she was remembering what it was like to be young and in love, and she's happy for her daughter, that she can have those same feelings.
Brooke Shields wouldn't know what 'true love' was if it 'bit her on the breast'. She certainly got around the block in hollywood. Yes, she was beautiful when she was younger, but being promiscuous doesn't make a girl beautiful! Its pretty 'sick' to think that Brooke's own mother (in real life) actually promoted her in love scenes. Sick!
@MuirmaidenMy comment referred to the stuff her mother had her act in just to get famous! Who the hell cares when that slut lost her viginity, she's still a slut! =Brooke Shields wouldn't know what 'true love' was if it 'bit her on the breast'. She certainly got around the block in hollywood.Yes she was beautiful when she was younger but being promiscuous doesn't make a girl beautiful! Its pretty 'sick' to think that Brooke's own mother (in real life) actually promoted her in love scenes.Sick!
My mother would have started shrieking, grounded me for life, and ordered my father to shoot the guy on the spot. Not watch from the staircase, grinning like a creepster. Awkward.
This song and movie really affected me when i first saw it. Not only was the film about love, and everyone who witnessed that love being jealous and trying to stop it...it was also about a total abandon of oneself. David's love went one step beyond, from love to an obsession, jade was more innocent. One thing for sure it was love, deep and intense and never ending...something that pure and real is volatile in emotion. sniffle
@lamascara66 in the movie and book...not that the mom love the sex scene. She was adoring the love of the young couple -which in the book was something she missed most from her husband. David the young guy courted the whole family to be closed with Jade. But unfortunate circumstances happened till both parted ways by the court order and family decisions. till Jade turne 18 and realised-David is the one she loves at the end forever.
i love and miss the 80s..my high school years..i remember this movie..i was a huge Brooke Shields fan..had the vinyl album soundtrack and the book that went with the movie...

Copy and paste to all 2pac videos and all music videos let's get this noticed quickly!
the film is about a love without end, pity you can not understand what true love is, few understand, but only a few...many will live a life without ever discovering, and you are part of these poor unfortunate who will never know what is love. ;-)
you are all pathetic! the film is about a love without end, pity you can not understand what true love is, few understand, but only a few...many will live a life without ever discovering, and you are part of these poor unfortunate who will never know what is love. ;-)
Franco Zeferelli produced 2 amazing movies about lovestruck teens (ROMEO AND JULIET and ENDLESS LOVE). What's so captivating is the strong unbreakable bond between them. They became soulmates for eternity because of their invincible love for eachother, everyone tried to tear them apart, and failed because their love prevailed! My first love is still my "endless love". He's my "David" and I'm his "Jade".
look at the dad's eyes, as if he's daring the young man to take his daughter away. Also I bet the old lady wish to join in the fun and action at the ending! lol XD
This movie suggests other things which people never seem to mention. The way the father is possesive over his daughter, yet the mother and he barely seem to connect. Then the boyfriend is wanted by both the mother and daughter. Then the father goes nuts whenever he sees the boyfriend. I didn't pick up on that when I was 16 and first saw the movie.
I made a comment on here last year about Marie and I. She passed away in May 09 and she was the love of my life. Love is endless. Life ends but love never does.
@nstamper37 the song and video is from the movie itelf- BROOKE SHIELDS and MARTIN HEWITT- FRANCO ZEFFERELLI directed the movie as he directed the 1968 masterpiece movie ROMEO and JULIET.
In high school, 20++ years ago, this song was 'our' song, and well, life happened and we went in two different directions. He truly was and is my endless love! I think about him everyday and wonder if, one day, we'll see each other again!
@sho0osh2 If that were me and I glanced and saw my MOTHER watching me and my boyfriend having sex, I would be scarred for life. I can't believe she did that.
If I happened upon my teenage son and his girlfriend, I would be quietly turntailing up the stairs going, "Oh god, I did not see that.....I did not see that...." out of mortified embarrassment and praying he didn't see me. Then I would be back in my room saying to myself, "Mister you better have worn a condom..." over and over, lol!
@8mycrab it was not about shock or feeling bad. The point was the lady felt unfulfilled in her life and seeing the love between her daughter and boyfriend made her feel a happiness and feeling she was not feeling as of late or ever. Something like that. It was not about being creeped out. That is why in the movie the husband hates the boyfriend. I think it also had to do with his wife having a crush on the younger man. Not a great movie, but it made it's point I think.
@marcelageiger - She's looking b/c she just caught her 15 year old daughter having sex. At first she turns away not knowing what to do but then sees Jade's face and how David looked at her. They were making love and her mother was kind of in awe for a moment at these two young people showing such emotion.
@jevonk - you explained it perfectly! I can't stand when people have to ruin what the movie is saying. Every woman wants there first time to be perfect and she saw how perfect her daughters was.....thats what the smile mean't.
What a nice thing to say! I was there, young & impressionable, moved by the whole of the first showing of the movie(not until "The Breakfast Club"would a movie leave such a permanent impression upon me).I thought it very, very selfless that her Mother could stop her panic (so rarely seen in today's movies) & think about the bigger picture that her daughter is no longer her 'baby', even though she will always be.
@VintageLadyJ The director/writers left us with another legacy hidden in the scene . I can't think of a wiser person who would teach her young daughter the wisdom needed for the reponsibility of sex in the coming years. The director/writers left their audience with the subliminal comfort that Jade was in wise hands regarding her sexual maturity. She is, afterall, only 15.
@jevonk To fully understand the scene, one must come from a generation before the'80's&its end of innocence by the selfish,cruel,self-servicing,age of political correctness where the that,&succeeding generations were left w\little in the way of values toward anything or anyone but ones own goals.
The Mother may, perhaps, be reminded of her *own* first love. She is showing the capacity to "think beyond herself
Filmation-wise, it is the director's way of letting you accept their underage sex.
Jevonk, I wasn't sure how to interpret this scene until I read your comment, and you are absolutely correct and I thank you for helping me understand it. I'm a hopeless romantic soul, and this is a special video....
@pimpmaster19702 What a nice thing to say!
@anyone This is the last era where women are seen as 'sluts." (Men are described as"thinking outta there d**ks." still are, for that matter) So this movie is the first of the last to discuss acceptance of underage sex on screen with the actual act being viewed by the audience. PC and pedo-paranioa killed any chance of seeing this without someone crying "perverts!"

Sad.
