I had this done on firday to check for celiac diseas. Its really not a big deal! The last thing I rember is being tolde to roll on my side and them putting the brace in my mouth to hold it open. Then I woak up in recovery feeling like i had just taken a nap.
I an having a biopsy tomorrow ti c if i have celiac disease. I am 14 and very scared. They said i could go and eat after it, and there wouldn't be any recovery. Can i expect any pain afterwards?
Just had a EGD done today, & I DONT Remeber a thing, I dont even remember them telling me to swallow the camera, after I turned on my side I past out..... After several hours later im starting to have pain in my throat to my stomach... But other then that, it wasn't bad at all.
I have to get that done and the doctor that is doing it for me I've heard bad things about from other people. I don't know who do tell though because I'm only 15 and everyone says that he's horrible and don't go to him. One of my friends had to get it done and he cut the back of her throat open and she got really sick...I don't have gag reflexes either and that won't be a worry, but will my throat hurt afterwards?

Had this done today with my throat numbed didn't gag or retch once took like 3 minutes once its in you can hardly feel it!

I have had four of these. I had one in October 2010 without sedation.

It was a bit discomforting, but that was only the fact because of the gagging.
It did not hurt at all.
So please do not worry. You will be ok honest. There is a second nurse too and they both talk to you and make you comfortable the best they can.
The only thing you do feel afterwards for a few days is a slight sore throat.

I just had this done today and my throat is very sore and I was awale the entire time and could feel it and I was gagging

hahaha...I had this done without sedation... what a trip. nasty and gross. If you're a wuss, take the drugs!

What is that noise like the patient is gagging? Is that breathing or is he/she awake?

@far2813 The patient gagging. Sometimes you are awake even with sedation I was each time. The last one I had I just had a spray to numb my throat.
