I was born in 1978 so I remember '79 well. It was a good year. Do a little research on what was happening in the world then if you want to know what it was like. I assume it was a good year, at least for your parents.
When this candy first came out we had a dish of it on our coffee table. This elderly lady who lived next door came over and we told her it was M&M's. She ate one and immediatly vomited all over herself. She inhaled some vomit and started coughing and gagging and she lost control of her bowels which caused a big stain on the couch that never came out. I never bought Reeses's Pieces again after that.
