Bigger map, more enemies, less buggy, better customization, and another chapter in an evolving world. I don't care about graphics at all, the game has enough atmosphere to make up for any shortcomings in the graphics department.

The cry engine might have the more advanced tech, especially when it comes to physics, but the stalker engine fits in so perfectly with the zone that i wouldnt have it any other way.
the crytek engine? was there any chance of this being used for Stalker? would be interesting to see the Zone through the Crytek engine (with lots of reworking obviously) both have their pro's and cons.
They will use the CryEngine 2 for Stalker 2. It will do the job, just because all we have seen from the CryEngine is beaches and forests doesn't mean it can't do anything else. Mind you, the models and textures are not part of the engine. But the CryEngine2 actually works and is stable and rather efficient, so maybe we'll finally see a Stalker game that really works. At least GSC will have more time to spend on gameplay instead of troubleshooting their engine.
How can you say they will use CryEngine 2 for STALKER 2 when CryEngine 3 comes out in a few months *facepalm*... Do you have any idea how much money it costs to use another developers engine to create your game with? GSC is a small company, they don't have the money to use the CryEngine after putting well over a million into the X-Ray Engine. Do you really think they would throw away all of the money and eight years of work to start over on a new engine?

Actually not really it isnt that bad for consoles imagine they will sell it even more times when they have it for consoles so that players wich cant run that game on PC can run it on their 360 or PS3 and that stuff :)

You act like the gameplay wasn't stunning from the start. Face it, you wouldn't last 5 minutes in this game because you console kiddies love your Halos and Killzones with their super linear run and gun gameplay.
Well practically they are the same, but SHOC's engine version is 1.0 but CS is 1.5. And COP will be on 1.6 And well after this, the last stand alone addon, there will be STALKER 2 and Console versions of the game, but I don't know which STALKER's exactly.

the gtx 260 doesnt support direct x 10.1. in fact no nvidia cards do, only ati cards. But the gtx 260 runs crysis really well. Mine destroys stalker on max too, insane fps.
Every source I've checked says it's coming out this fall, but we all know how unreliable release dates are. Still, I can't help but get my hopes up. :D
i wouldnt count on it, especially if they introduce dx11, but good luck. i got 6600, radeon 4870 with 1024mb, 4gb `1066mhz ram and not counting to play this on high settings in any decent resolution on my 22" monitor...

i would say that if you ran clear sky ok, then you shouldnt have too much trouble, as its just a slightly updated version of the same engine.
are you using vista or XP? it will run much better on XP. i still dont use vista, as its a waste of time and money, and is far too system intensive for running games on a mid range rig like mine (and yours, it seems)

the reason it didnt get the best reviews is mainly because this game is meant for only the most hardcore of the hardcore, in other words, its not meant for everyone. yes its pretty buggy, but they have patched it up! and even if the graphics are a bit out of date, the small weather and costume details (and others) make up for it. also the xray engine has some of the best lighting and shadowing out there. imo stalker got bad reviews because it wasn't a regular boring linear fps.
instead it was a very difficult open world fps, with a branching story line that took a while to get together. this game even on novice is much harder than most other fps's on veteran or legendary. and its complexity which is something that only a couple of gamers appreciate was considered a demerit in most reviews. this would be my review of it.

Oblivion, really? I would say the first two Fallout games are some of the most atmospheric games. Plus the Stalker series has plenty of Fallout (1 and 2) elements.
Am I the only one who thinks that X-Ray, the engine used by all STALKER games, can render the most realistic environments? In some places it looks almost like a photo taken in real life!
Game developer made comment how most of gameplay will be on terrain map and less in underground type setting. I wonder why tho, I find those dark underground levels to keep you on edge at all times
Both Stalker CS and SOC are highly underestimated games. Every gamer should try both games at least ONCE, before they start developing all their prejudice. And just as ComradPaco says, the athmosphere is "#¤% Kickass.

as a matter of fact i got a pretty face, but what the fuck to apreciatte? oblivion looks more like the zone according to the movie stalker, the book is totally diffirent, stalker took 5 year in devemopment and it aint even the 5% of oblivion the map, what map its just small levels... the game is unbalanced buggy and crap and the 3 games are more or less the same, plus the graphics look so dated, what tp apreciatte? a half finished product?
The atmospher, its the moust atmosphered game I playd.
And yes it hases bugs, but its still a very intresting game, and with each game its batter, This one will finaly have big open map's. Game's with there own world are always more interisting, then just copying the rialaty, and to me the more the game is set apart from the real world, the more interesting it is.

Just as soon I got tired of gaming, I came upon stalker soc and I got hooked so badly, then played clear sky which was good but lacked atmosphere of soc but great game as well. What differes from other fps is rpg exploration element, character interaction, inventory/item money management etc which I see as revolution in fps genre.
Stalkers use consoles as morning alarms..

clear sky was more based on faction wars and stuff.
i think call of pripyat is gonna be a mix of both. like clear sky with the horror of shadow of chernobyl.

Consoles are for those games like Far Cry 2, where the emphasis is pretty much only on fire, and the effects of fire and how it responds to the world.
Interesting, that's exactly what Alone In The Dark 5 was trying to do, show the interaction with fire.
The newest thing is the interaction with ice, hence what the new silent hill is doing.
Pretty pathetic if u ask me. I like Far Cry, don't get me wrong, but Stalker is a PC game.

1.WTF very difficult even on novice?lol i play on master and 1 or 2 shots to the head with pistols are enough to kill the best stalkers (except stalkers with exoskeletons). your comments remind me a greek review to stalker clear sky rolf 2.the graphics are out of date?stalker clear sky have better graphics than all valve games,arma 2,fears,fallout 3,call of dutys + 500 more rolf.and 3 play the game first then post *********@#$%!

the reason it didnt get the best reviews is mainly because this game is meant for only the most hardcore of the hardcore, in other words, its not meant for everyone. yes its pretty buggy, but they have patched it up! and even if the graphics are a bit out of date, the small weather and costume details (and others) make up for it. also the xray engine has some of the best lighting and shadowing out there. imo stalker got bad reviews because it wasn't a regular boring linear fps.

instead it was a very difficult open world fps, with a branching story line that took a while to get together. this game even on novice is much harder than most other fps's on veteran or legendary. and its complexity which is something that only a couple of gamers appreciate was considered a demerit in most reviews. this would be my review of it.
graphics7:just not very good, but passable, with lighting and such
gameplay9:great ballistics and guns feel very realistic, although money isnt worth

I think this is a good choice, i mean... it is a low number of maps (but big maps at the same time). It is better this way, because of the performance in game (aka less bugs).

Oblivion, really? I would say the first two Fallout games are some of the most atmospheric games. Plus the Stalker series has plenty of Fallout (1 and 2) elements.

Game developer made comment how most of gameplay will be on terrain map and less in underground type setting. I wonder why tho, I find those dark underground levels to keep you on edge at all times

Both Stalker CS and SOC are highly underestimated games. Every gamer should try both games at least ONCE, before they start developing all their prejudice. And just as ComradPaco says, the athmosphere is "#¤% Kickass.

s.t.a.l.k.e.r. is my all time favorite and it's 100 times better than hl2 and fallout 3.i got into a fight with some american gamer.most american gamers care only about graphics rather than the actual gameplay.i was calling fallout inferior to s.t.a.l.k.e.r. in the form of crazier mutants, better radiation system,realism in carrying stuff and damage, and condition of weapons u find and that were his answers:

as a matter of fact i got a pretty face, but what the fuck to apreciatte? oblivion looks more like the zone according to the movie stalker, the book is totally diffirent, stalker took 5 year in devemopment and it aint even the 5% of oblivion the map, what map its just small levels... the game is unbalanced buggy and crap and the 3 games are more or less the same, plus the graphics look so dated, what tp apreciatte? a half finished product?

The atmospher, its the moust atmosphered game I playd.
And yes it hases bugs, but its still a very intresting game, and with each game its batter, This one will finaly have big open map's. Game's with there own world are always more interisting, then just copying the rialaty, and to me the more the game is set apart from the real world, the more interesting it is.

if they FINNALY make a fucking worldmap and not recycle the areas from the previous 2 games thats ok, it took them 5 years to release the first game and it was so damn linear and small compared to oblivion and boiling point...seriously after 8 years they finnally make it as good as they should, but the graphics are still old... in any case i didnt see much atmosphere cod 4 version of chernobyl is better,as for the best atmosphere its either oblivion or condemned or system shock 2

Just as soon I got tired of gaming, I came upon stalker soc and I got hooked so badly, then played clear sky which was good but lacked atmosphere of soc but great game as well. What differes from other fps is rpg exploration element, character interaction, inventory/item money management etc which I see as revolution in fps genre.
