@KevinMillard68 true, but disassembly is required to do that. the oil film will remain long enough to provide lubrication until the next yearly maintenance...
@majorxlr8n nope the oil wont last and you dont have to dissassemble to get the grease in the bushings all you need is a baby surenge fill it with grease and inject it in works really slick do it all the time.. and best sutff for the axels is anti seize it will out last any grease out there been there done that for years as well , never failed yet ..
i did like your video some good info as well. home users really need to take care of there stuff and dont need to know alot to do it.
@KevinMillard68 GREAT IDEA!! never thought of that. I have been using the Lithium spray lately to do the axle bushings. Now - when I repair auger gearboxes, rake shafts get a slathering of anti-seize. that stuff NEVER comes off. Thank you for the tips!!! And yes, homeowners really need to be more cognizant of maintenance on their OPE. Even checking oil seems to be a passing fad, based on the dozens of seized/failed engines I've seen the past 8 or 9 years... PEACE!
@rocsvt1 Yes, the MTD offerings are not the most robust, but they ARE simple and relatively easy to repair. Parts are usually not too over priced also. Ariens makes a superb machine - no doubt! appreciate the compliment!
majorxlr8n do you know where to find carburetors for the mtd 8/26 models, I am having the hardest time finding one for my snow blower!!!!1 Any help would be appreciated.
@atoxx1: since its an MTD, chances are it is powered by a Tecumseh engine. There were several different carbs used on the 8hp engines throughout the years. With Tecumseh being out of the engine business, some dilligent internet searching (eBay) should yield a replacement. Unless the carb was left outside in the rain/snow for a few years, it CAN be resurrected with a good cleaning. It its missing, hunt one down asap as sources are slowly beginning to dry up. Good luck!
Sure, there are no complaints because you deleted all of them, no surprises ...mistake at 12 o'clock high!! its a reflection. it can be clearly seen at the very beginning of the video when I'm blocking the sun. if it were grease, I would have gotten a customer complaint - which I have not.
I thought that white grease gets very hard in cold weather and should be used for high temp. I was told if your blower is stored in a unheated garage the white grease gets hard and ruins the gears
Actually, white lithium grease is good down to -20 deg F. I've used it exclusively on customer machines, and my own with ZERO gear failures. However - WLG for the auger gearbox is a different story. This video covers the self propelled drive and not the auger gearcase
best to use general purpose grease on the bushings it will last alot longer and reduce ware alot better then oil will

Put some paper or saran wrap on the friction wheel to avoid getting oil on it.
