okay this game is for fans of the original which you WOULD/WILL NOT BE. The original game once you touched Nights was on rails, you NEED a analouge stick (thumb sores)and you had a 2:00 time limit for each lap and/or boss in which case the more time you went through and collected rings and such the more you would be rewarded. On that note- don't buy this game (or most games) for 50 bucks- they rarely are worth it.... and nIghts voice sucks.... much better as a androgynous character.

when this game came out, i was eight at the time. i had completed mario galaxy and every other game that i had one the wii so when my mum got me this game i was happy. at first i enjoyed the game. but then i wanted to play wills side of the game. the boss after the clown (the lizard one) had me throwning my wii remote and nunchuck on the floor and crying (really! lol) one because it gave you no indication of what you were supposed to do and two because the time limit was utter crap, lol.

I disagree with this review. Sure, it's nowhere near as good as NiGHTS Into Dreams, but it's not completely unplayable and worth a skip. When it first came out I'd say it was worth a rent at most, but now I'd lean more towards a buy.
Good thing I only got it at $20 then, lol. But seriously, it's not that bad, the gameplay is decent, graphics are great for Wii, and I rather liked the music. The only problems I have with it is that it can be sickeningly childish at times and the controls does take some practice, even more so for the Wiimote.
So overall, it's not 'unplayable', it does have potential, but it can use some improvements here and there.
@BRiTDRAG2 well that Dark Shade of Puple really isn't that feminine plus I read some books on the midevil times...and I recall reading something that said most Jesters (which Nights is) where allmost all Male...and..i've seen Many descriptions and Ads in magazines recalling Nights as a boy
@wiiviewr Hey, i'm not a sucker. I bought this game because I thought it was gonna be like the Saturn version, but not quite. At least it didn't cost me $50. This game is around $10 to $14 in almost any gaming store. I still enjoy this game to this day. Maybe because it has some nostalgic factor to it.
This game isGORGEOUS! Especially on a high definition flat screen. Hell it'll look good on a standard tv. If you play use a classic controller or one compatible with both the wii and game cube. It works way better, but it still takes time to get used to. I'm still trying to get used to it. I agree with the wiiviewr on the time trials. I wish there was an easter egg or bonus that allowed you to explore the levels, but it plays much like a sonic game in that you're timed and scored.
The nunchuck works pretty well too, but a classic is still better. Its not as bad as the wiviewr describes it, but i think this is one of those games that depends on your preference. I hate rails in games, but so far I'm having fun playing the levels because I never played a game like this one before. I know what hes going at with the time limits. It would be nice if you had the option to fly levels without time restraint expecially with graphics so stunning and secrets to find (teardrops).

It only happened one time that I've stopped playing a game really early cause it was so crappy. That was Sonic Unleashed. Sure, the Day-time was fun, but the night was the crappiest thing ever. I remembered I just would play that level a little quick before finishing. 40 minutes took it!!!
Cutscenes are annoying, but they didn't kill the game! The game is supposed to be similar to a sonic game, so of course there might going to be a time limit. Those few points you made do not make this game unplayable. I bought this game for £5 last saturday and I thought it was a pretty good bargain. I'm loving it so far. Just managed to beat Will's Story this morning.
I don't have any major complaints at all. As I've played games that are FAR worse.
As for people who complain about the controls, don't bother with the Wii remote. I used a Gamecube controller and mastered the controls pretty quickly then.

Unfortunately, yes. However that's my only complaint about the game. I have no complaint at all about the graphics, as I've played games that are FAR worse. And the controls are pretty good with a Gamecube controller.
I say give it a go, couldn't hurt to try it. Especially if you do find it cheap. I found my copy for £5 preowned and thought it was a decent bargain. I still haven't gotten around to beating it yet die to focusing on other games.
Yeah you should find it really cheap in most shops. Only go for it if you see a copy that's less than 10 dollars. I don't think it's worth more than 10 dollars.

You have to consider where this game came from. Think of it more as an arcade game than a mainstream game. That's how all the saturn games were made: from sega arcade games. I played this game on saturn back when i was like, 11. It was a challenge because I played it without a memory card. It was way fun back then even though you always had to restart. Otherwise, it's only a source of nastolgia for people who played the original, and you won't get much out of it.
Plus it didnt cost 50 dollars for me it cost 25

The Wii-Mote isn't bad at all, the biggest issue with people who have a problem with it is they don't want to try an get use to new style of controllers.

Screw it. I'm buying this game, it's only like £5 - £8 now. So, why not? Judging from all these comments, it can't be that bad.

I disagree with this review. Sure, it's nowhere near as good as NiGHTS Into Dreams, but it's not completely unplayable and worth a skip. When it first came out I'd say it was worth a rent at most, but now I'd lean more towards a buy.

Good thing I only got it at $20 then, lol. But seriously, it's not that bad, the gameplay is decent, graphics are great for Wii, and I rather liked the music. The only problems I have with it is that it can be sickeningly childish at times and the controls does take some practice, even more so for the Wiimote.
So overall, it's not 'unplayable', it does have potential, but it can use some improvements here and there.

@BRiTDRAG2 well that Dark Shade of Puple really isn't that feminine plus I read some books on the midevil times...and I recall reading something that said most Jesters (which Nights is) where allmost all Male...and..i've seen Many descriptions and Ads in magazines recalling Nights as a boy

@wiiviewr Hey, i'm not a sucker. I bought this game because I thought it was gonna be like the Saturn version, but not quite. At least it didn't cost me $50. This game is around $10 to $14 in almost any gaming store. I still enjoy this game to this day. Maybe because it has some nostalgic factor to it.

This game isGORGEOUS! Especially on a high definition flat screen. Hell it'll look good on a standard tv. If you play use a classic controller or one compatible with both the wii and game cube. It works way better, but it still takes time to get used to. I'm still trying to get used to it. I agree with the wiiviewr on the time trials. I wish there was an easter egg or bonus that allowed you to explore the levels, but it plays much like a sonic game in that you're timed and scored.

The nunchuck works pretty well too, but a classic is still better. Its not as bad as the wiviewr describes it, but i think this is one of those games that depends on your preference. I hate rails in games, but so far I'm having fun playing the levels because I never played a game like this one before. I know what hes going at with the time limits. It would be nice if you had the option to fly levels without time restraint expecially with graphics so stunning and secrets to find (teardrops).

A shame about this game. It's not a disaster. But the voices are annoying as hell. Sadly many of the Saturn original version's charms seem to be taken out for this one. This could and should have been so good.

It only happened one time that I've stopped playing a game really early cause it was so crappy. That was Sonic Unleashed. Sure, the Day-time was fun, but the night was the crappiest thing ever. I remembered I just would play that level a little quick before finishing. 40 minutes took it!!!

Cutscenes are annoying, but they didn't kill the game! The game is supposed to be similar to a sonic game, so of course there might going to be a time limit. Those few points you made do not make this game unplayable. Actually, The game is pretty decent, and can be quite fun.I think you should actually try and play past the first the level before you go bitching about it. But hey, That's just my opinion.

I bought this game for £5 last saturday and I thought it was a pretty good bargain. I'm loving it so far. Just managed to beat Will's Story this morning.
I don't have any major complaints at all. As I've played games that are FAR worse.
As for people who complain about the controls, don't bother with the Wii remote. I used a Gamecube controller and mastered the controls pretty quickly then.
I hadn't even played the first Nights game on the Saturn and I thought this was amazing.

Unfortunately, yes. However that's my only complaint about the game. I have no complaint at all about the graphics, as I've played games that are FAR worse. And the controls are pretty good with a Gamecube controller.
I say give it a go, couldn't hurt to try it. Especially if you do find it cheap. I found my copy for £5 preowned and thought it was a decent bargain. I still haven't gotten around to beating it yet die to focusing on other games.

Yeah you should find it really cheap in most shops. Only go for it if you see a copy that's less than 10 dollars. I don't think it's worth more than 10 dollars.
I got mine for 5 pounds here in the UK and personally I don't think it's worth anything over 10 pounds.

You have to consider where this game came from. Think of it more as an arcade game than a mainstream game. That's how all the saturn games were made: from sega arcade games. I played this game on saturn back when i was like, 11. It was a challenge because I played it without a memory card. It was way fun back then even though you always had to restart. Otherwise, it's only a source of nastolgia for people who played the original, and you won't get much out of it.

the saturn does not require a memory card, it has built-in memory for saves.
there is an external backup card for saves, but it's not required.
