I remember the Cryan' Shames in the late sixties and they were one of the first good bands I saw live. This was in northern Indiana and I was a big fan.They had a few songs that sounded like the Association .Buy "Young Birds Fly" from iTunes and experience the innocence that was there during that time.

I first heard the Cryan Shames a couple of days ago. Jangle Pop Radio, one of Live365 internet radio stations, played a tune of theirs. A great tuneful band- the track they played sounded somewhat like New Colony Six.

You guys in Chicago had quite a scene in the 60s.

When the band first formed Jim Pilster had a hook made for his left hand. The cover of Sugar and Spice was shot

in front of a candystore at OldeTown

in Chicago.

I remember hearing about the hook but did not see them live until the mid-seventy's at a bar named "The Thirsty Whale" in River Grove. He was preforming without the hook by then, just had his hand wrapped up.

I believe that Jim's famous hook is retired and on display at the Hard Rock Cafe in Chicago

I was downtown Downers Grove at a bookstore and Jim Fairs was there looking at playboy before writing this song.About 66-68.
