I use WD40 light oil spray on the rails before running the loco . This may well cause some damage to any traction tyres. I dont leave the locos out for long so they normally dry out once brought back inside into the warm. Not noticed any corrosion but here in the South East of England, we dont get that much snow normally so that run in the snow is a rare opotunity.

It was fresh snow. Once brushed off the rails I used WD40 sprayed onto the rails.

@roundhouses Why dont you get a G scale flanger that works... would save a lot of WD40 :)
