When you switch your left hand from a blade to a spell it will pause the game but can u hotkey that spell so that u switch quickly without pausing the game. (So that it doesn't break the flow of combat)

As for the video, the combat actually looked pretty boring. Finishing moves look nice, but I was hoping for something more like Dark Messiah's combat system. The combat in Skyrim looks like it has no flow, just like Oblivion.

This is precisely what I wanted to hear: improved melee combat. Blocking at the correct time to ward off an attack, as opposed to just perma blocking. This new system is closer to a game called Mount & Blade. Although it would have been even better if Bethesda took it further by having to block in the correct direction of the attack, such as in Mount & Blade. Now I'm getting interested in the game, as the melee combat in both Morrowind and Oblivion bored me to tears, so I stopped playing.

@Jason99942 Morrowind and Oblivion were great games because of the story's and exploration. There are mods called enhanced combat mods that greatly improved the combat giving your character and enemys more attacks. Also if you didnt like the blocking you could try a mage character equipped with a magic staff who can use fireballs and the like and conjure monsters to do some fighting for you...or even use a stealth character who can sneak around shooting arrows from the shadows.

Why do some videos show enemies reacting to your sword blows and others show the enemy just standing there swinging unaffected from your attacks (like Oblivion)? That was my biggest problem with melee combat in Oblivion. Can anyone shed some light on the subject?

@bitbat9 It's only hard to imagine how long ago this gameplay was recorded before it was actually leaked so saying the game is going to be riddled with bugs is just a flat out guess, there really is no evidence here towards this. Games do come with their share of bugs though and being that the game goes through it's alpha and beta like every other game just means it will have it's fair share just like every other game. This game is likely to receive game of the year I'd stay more optimistic.

@IIllIllllIIlllIlllll Yeah, I heard that it was actually optimized for 360 and ported to PC, but the developers also said the PC version would have the option for larger textures as well as options for further draw distance and rendering. I would assume the PC would have much higher frame rates if you have a good system as well.
