I take great exception to the person who calls another one "retarded". I don't care about the substance of their disagreement. First of all, if somebody has a mentally retarded child and sees this insensitive comment, he (or she) will be very offended. Secondly, the word "retarded" doesn't mean anything unless you say in what way the person is retarded. So, grab a dictionary and curb your mouth!
People are sooo annoying. They always find something to complain about... conserve water @ranababy???? There is nothing wrong with that statement if we were the Discovery channel...
@mshappyclam Good observation. Its not weird, their skull forms into an egg shape so they could come out easier and its goes back to normal in a couple of days. Why would you say something so beautiful is weird and worst, why would you make a statement like that when these parents shared their special moment with us.
@melissasalermo Parents should keep their special moments private. Most people don't want to see a naked, screaming, pooping machine with an egg-shaped head.
@jillyz12 They are definetly tougher than we think. I remember when I had my daughter lots of people were scared to handle her b/c they felt as if they were going to break her; her little arm, etc. Its not that easy, although of course abuse would def hurt them but the way the nurses are handling them is just fine! people are annoying!
@ranababy - Actually the water needs to stay at a constant temp & it helps to also speed up the time it takes to bathe them. They need to do it quickly (not like her technique) because they lose their body heat quickly through their head. I definitely didn't like the way she did most of it, but he did seem to like his head under the water. I am a mother and grandmother. She does talk softly which is more than I can say for so many so-called professionals who handle them like a sack of potatoes..
@artforus - Many generations of Americans have done it and will continue to do it. i understand some of the possible concerns, but there isn't any harm.

THIS IS SO WRONG!!!!!at 0:48 sec the baby got startled because of the sudden patting of towel on the baby's body!!!!!!can't the nurse/midwife or whoever that woman see that the baby is cold???!!!a newborn baby gets hypothermic easily!!!!!every movement should be gentle as possible!!!!!!!!sorry i can't help but comment on this one!!!!!!!THIS IS JUST SO WRONG!!!!!!!!!poor baby handled by unethical health practitioner!!!
