  • Ok fair enough

  • @dan49370

Hi Dan,thankyou for reversing the thumbs down.

    Regards Mick

  • Where's your unhooking mat you idiot !!

  • @dan49370

Morning Dan,we did have matts with use but it was the heat of the moment and the main priority was to get the fish back,we do carry matts. Its a good comment that you have made, and i hope other lern by it.Its a shame hat you have given my vid the thumbs down.Just for this error.the main reason for the vid was to point out about the harm using to light line for piking.Mick

  • That sucks, shame it couldnt be saved, should have despatched it, also, your a carp man, unhooking mat!

Like your other vids, need a kayak :-)

  • i generally use 18lb line with a 40 lb trace to a mepps spinner.ive never had my line break and have caught pike up to 21 lb.

  • Disgrace. don't go pike fishing unless you know how to handle them.

  • i had somthnig like this happen to me i was using a rubber perch lure and as i saw here the trace was down its throat but i managed to get it out the the aid of my brother but it just goes to show people have no respect when fishing for pike...crule you just wouldent use light line on a fish thats gonna' pull at about 20lb+ ridiculous

  • I rarely use braid, too risky for it to fray and break...

  • @Jameswatton - Totally agree with you mate. With lure fishing you can have the confidence with using barbless hooks as there's always tension on the line (even pinched barbs have enough extra grip on them) as well as more hooking on the lip. Plus there's better probability in catching something as you're constantly casting in different areas. Wanna try hooking a slither of deadbait onto one of the trebbles ;)...

  • People should just read up infomation with pike, it's not a good idea to use light take with this blighters, as for deadbaiting.....BORING, lure fishing you're up and about, not much tackle needed. and when they hit that lure BAM. i went fishing today, managed to get one of temp one of them with a big copper spoon (water was quite murky) i said to my mate, the weathers not looking goo--BAM bloody great fun, compared to them twats in bivies waiting for a bite alarm to go off.

  • nice to see people caring sound

  • the pike.

  • i love fishing, ive been wondering how to catch them in a pond.

  • no i meant that the quality was bad and the camra was also everywhere. didnt mean bad at all.

  • the vid sucks. sorry

  • @TheMrsuzuki101 Why is that then, all comments on this video have got a good response,if you put shitty comments, the least you could do is give your reason why.Or maybe you are one of these pricks that use low poundage line.

  • Sad realy for that pike

  • Good on ya lads, your respect for that poor old Pike does you lads credit, more education needed me thinks ! , lets hope plenty of people see your vid good on you for uploading it, keep up the good work. respect from East Sussex :-)

  • Alot of people are careless with fish these days, especially kids, i may be young myself but i would never leave a fish with hooks inside it

  • nice to se keep pikers doing what they do best,

AS for some of the previous comments,

when piking, always use 15lb mono nothing below that, if using braid 66lb power pro all the way, as its the same diameter as the mono,

if in doubt always check the PAC website,

  • shame :( good down there though

  • Hi MiltMilt, it's nice to see someone who knows what their doing and putting the fish first. I always think this should be everyones attitude. Well done mate. Tim

  • Hi theres, nothing wrong with using mono lines.Congratulations on your catch at Bosherston, did you take any photos

  • For me

  • I'm sorry but everyone seems to be putting braid is better but I disagree I caught a 11lb pije from bosherston with a 10lb mainline an a trace with 2 treble hooks with a dead mackrel on as bait I caught it by the bridge that seperates the 2 lakes I caught it on the drop now seens as I'm only 14 I thought that was a decent fish for

  • To my last comment was it my fault the hook wrapped round his stomach ?

  • Hi me and my friends were pike fishing down the canal I was using 36 pound braid I know it's alot but I never want this happening to pike any way I hooked into about a 7 or 8 pounder and once I landed the fish got it onto a wet foam mat I opened his mouth with my hand wearing a chain mail glove and got one treble out but the other one was wrapped round his stomach j think so I got my long nosed plier things put and tried to get the treble hook but I just simply couldn't I don't know what happen

  • this video made me so upset, its horrible when you see things like that. bless you for trying to save him tho

  • Should never pike fish with mono.

Braid all the way.Makes like a lto easier!

  • im from coppull mate and we have simlar problems with anglers in our area using to light a line for the situation there fishing in! its about time some of the baliffs were making sure this practice stops as its resulting in some big fish being lost!! keep up the good work boys we have to try and educate these people that pike are delicate creatures and need treating with respect.

  • awrite cheers

  • aw unluky m8. a got told the acids in thier stomach is strong enough to break down trebles but am no sure do u know anythin about it?

  • Hello Josh,if acids in there stomachs was strong enough to break down mono linetrebles and or wire, this pike wouldn't be in this condition.

.When a pike is caught and the deadbait is removed from the pike, this is bad for the fish as the acids in the stomach have started to form ready to disolve the food, and there is no food for the acids to work on.So the pike is released with all this acid in its stomach.Allway or when ever possible pop a deadbait down the pikes throat, this will help the pike

  • @miltmilt123 ahh cheers

  • i was fishin in wigan the other day, caught a pike wrapped up in fishin line under every fin and in and out of the gills with a trace hanging off on his underbelly, ashame to see such nice fish treated so bad, i think it was about 4-6lb line that was tangled on it, i managed to cut every last bit of line off and unhoked the trace from under its chin and belly, the trace was barbed so it left a little wound on it but other than that he got back into the water and swam off happy,

  • @tandown1000 well done fella, in one way the pike was luck that the hooks were outside of the mouth, how big was the pike?and lets hope that you chatch it next year twice as big and full of spirit..respect

  • @miltmilt123 i didn't have my scales on me but goin off guesstimate it was about 8lbs

  • ok fella tight lines

  • wheres your unhooking mat thats bad fishing also ???????

12lb main line min for all pike fishing

  • @carpercotty Hi Carpercotty Yes i know,we did have a unhooking with us ,but none of us even thought of getting it out at the time.Maybe the situation, but i can assure you that we do carry and use mats. Thanks for your comment

  • would 6lb line do for small pike of about 7lb

  • Hello thanks for your question,i would advice you NOT to use 6lb line for pike fishing.

The nature of pike fishing eg casting heavy baits live or deads, means the stress factor on your line is high..This is what happened to the pike in my video, the numnut that caused this pike to suffer. Used heavy baits. so the line snapped on the cast.Same goes for using lures,a.I would recomend you use a minimum of 10lb.Thanks for your question and good luck with your fishing

  • That is pretty appaling that someone could think that 4 lb line is strong enough for piking even 12lb line may be a bit too light. I hope they have seen the poor state they left this poor fish in and learn from their mistake!

  • @hugufer hi yes thanks for your comment,i think that the deadbait cracked of on the cast, leaving bait, trebles, wire trace, and about a metre of line out in the water, and this pike came along and eaten it....Cheers Mick

  • Deadbaiting with 4lb line, the culprits should be shot. One of the fisheries I visit check line strength, trace strength and tackle before allowing people to fish for pike. Maybe this should be brought in at more fisheries to maintain healthly levels of pike in our waters.

  • Yes i agree line checks should be practiced ,i have seen the same thing on some carp fisheries.

Thanks for your comment much needed

  • That is crying shame. Who in their right mind deadbaits with 4lb line. Its people like that that give the sport a bad name. Expert fish handling. I hope it survived although its unlikely.

  • Thanks Scott, allthough im not having a go at deadbaiters (or deadbaiting)if i see a dead floating pike i will check it out incase theres a lost lure in it,,As bartysquad (last comment)quite rightly pointed out.Thank for your comment.

    This happens acroos the board

  • Its illigal here to fish with dead bait!

But there are times i find lurks or plugs hanging out of the mouth

  • i dont think you should have just put in on what looks like gravel though.

  • Yes i agree, But this is not the norm:

  • Hi, just saw reply. I dont know if my original comment was taken in the right way.....I meant well done to you for helping the poor pike, and as we know, the correct tackle is of reasonable cost. I wasnt having a dig. The pike looked very thin, must have really been suffering. Thanks for the reply

  • Hi Your original comment is spot on..All the best..

  • well done, a good lesson on how to treat fish. TC

  • well done chaps, how many more are suffering like this? Quality traces and line are so cheap and reliable nowadays.

  • Thanks for your comment, when ever i go piking i usually carry some deads with me,and pop one down the pikes throat on releasing .Idid not have any on this day,if i had im shure the pike would survive.

  • you have my uttermost respect for the way you handled that pike

  • Thanks for your comment,

  • Poor pike as least you guys tried to help it :)

    Great Video, :)

  • Thanks for your comment, when ever i go piking i usually carry some deads with me,and pop one down the pikes throat on releasing .Thanks once again

  • Rly great you helped that Pike men!!

    Respect!
