@fresh818kickks that's the sound of an extra heavy duty AWD drivetrain that even rally subaru's have. they don't use them in production cars because the gear meshing makes too much road noise :)
@Nikon89xj89 right when someone says drivetrain gearbox is included and yes that is the sound of that type of gears meshing(that is how gears operate), stock gears are helical to reduce meshing noise
The WRC Ford Focus is the baddest rallycar in the world. It has been comprehensively beating Subaru and Mitsubishi for years. Its about as fast as an F1 car from 1-100. I think the only reason Citroen has been beating it is because of Sebastien Loeb, the best rallydriver ever.
Well there are no name Pilots in Citroen team except Loeb. And Ford have hired an Armada among the best Pilots but they are still behind him. So normal that Ford got the honour places. But now see the rookie Sébastien Ogier arriving and being also faster than the Focus. At Portugal Rallye Citroen were 1, 2, and 3. Ask Solberg why he prefers C4 than Focus. Citroen is just following Peugeot in their tradition of the building best chassis when 205 or 206 were untouchable.

yeh i think block is a amazing driver BUT the guys in the WRC are elite and he doesnt stand much of a chance against them, hes a good stunt driver but hes not a true rally driver..... i just dont want him to lose his reputation over here in europe when his european fans see that hes not as good as they thought he was!......... he could be in some cool movies though!!

I am a Subaru fan, I love the boxer sound, but i have to admit that Ford is better in wrc and the sound isn't that bad...Actually it's a standard sound for a rally car with straight cut gears(that's why it sounds like is going in reverse)

only factory cars have 09 specifications a improvements, client focus is 08 specification. Differences between factory and clients cars are well known for wrc fans..
How else was he suppose to get into WRC? Subaru isn't in it so he couldn't do it with them. Besides, Ford is the only manufacterer that gives Citroen any sort of competition now since now and I really doubt they would have taken him.
Has anyone actually realised hes driving a Ford Fiesta because Subaru arent in the WRC anymore? WRC only has Citroen and Ford at the moment, with a few other manafacturers in the JWRC and Super2000.

i always ask myself if one of that idiots knows the new regulations for 2011. They always call it a "shity" car, but no one knows how good the 2011 citroen will.
Ken's Ford Fiesta is built and run by Olsberg MSE and will be competing the the Rally America series and at X-Games (a separate Fiesta will be built for the next gymkhana vid).
The Ford Focus RS WRC on the other hand is built by M-Sport (Ford of Europe Motorsport's rallying partner).
He could have competed in a WRC Subaru (Prodrive will still build you one); however without the financial backing of Subaru, MWRT would have been spending a hell of a lot more money on cars than they are!

1! We need to be encouraging American industry as much as possible. Hopefully, Ken Block switching to ford will popularize the company enough for ford to produce a turbo awd variant of a fiesta or focus to compete with the STi and EVO. I would not compare Ken´s Focus to Hirvonen Focus.. Mikko & Jarri-Mati have factory cars, Ken will drive client M-Sport Focus specification same as Henning Solberg or Mathew Wilson.. Great cars, but you can only reach top 5, but not to win rallies.. Top10 will be great for him anyway..
M-Sport are the guys who run the factory Ford team and build all of the WRC contesting Ford cars,.
Ken's will have been built to the same specification as every other Focus RS WRC - unless he's requested otherwise. How it is set up exactly for each rally will be down to him and his team.
I don't think anyone's expecting him to do very much this year as he familiarises himself with the car, team, routine etc. I'd say he's doing great if he manages a few top 5 stage times .

Prodrive can rent or sell the Impreza WRC, but its 2yrs old not really successfull one,without factory support. And Prodrive is working on new MINI for WRC..

yeh i think block is a amazing driver BUT the guys in the WRC are elite and he doesnt stand much of a chance against them, hes a good stunt driver but hes not a true rally driver..... i just dont want him to lose his reputation over here in europe when his european fans see that hes not as good as they thought he was!......... he could be in some cool movies though!!

I am a Subaru fan, I love the boxer sound, but i have to admit that Ford is better in wrc and the sound isn't that bad...Actually it's a standard sound for a rally car with straight cut gears(that's why it sounds like is going in reverse)

How else was he suppose to get into WRC? Subaru isn't in it so he couldn't do it with them. Besides, Ford is the only manufacterer that gives Citroen any sort of competition now since now and I really doubt they would have taken him.

Ken's Ford Fiesta is built and run by Olsberg MSE and will be competing the the Rally America series and at X-Games (a separate Fiesta will be built for the next gymkhana vid).
The Ford Focus RS WRC on the other hand is built by M-Sport (Ford of Europe Motorsport's rallying partner).
He could have competed in a WRC Subaru (Prodrive will still build you one); however without the financial backing of Subaru, MWRT would have been spending a hell of a lot more money on cars than they are!

1! We need to be encouraging American industry as much as possible. Hopefully, Ken Block switching to ford will popularize the company enough for ford to produce a turbo awd variant of a fiesta or focus to compete with the STi and EVO. I love my WRX, but if an American industry built something comparable, Id much rather support my national economy than a Japanese company.

I would not compare Ken´s Focus to Hirvonen Focus.. Mikko & Jarri-Mati have factory cars, Ken will drive client M-Sport Focus specification same as Henning Solberg or Mathew Wilson.. Great cars, but you can only reach top 5, but not to win rallies.. Top10 will be great for him anyway..

M-Sport are the guys who run the factory Ford team and build all of the WRC contesting Ford cars,.
Ken's will have been built to the same specification as every other Focus RS WRC - unless he's requested otherwise. How it is set up exactly for each rally will be down to him and his team.
I don't think anyone's expecting him to do very much this year as he familiarises himself with the car, team, routine etc. I'd say he's doing great if he manages a few top 5 stage times .

It would be interesting if there is more to it than meets the eye, but I really can't see how, despite every driver having their own preferred set-up, the factory cars can be that much different from the private teams'.
Maybe more money/time goes into them, or Ford's motorsport devision bring something special to the table.. but still, they all have to meet the same regulations and anything that can be done to increase performance in a certain car, will be done by every team using the car. Mmm

Best you can do is to listen to rally radio (wrc(dot)com/jsp/index(dot)jsp?lnk=250 they bring live broadcasting only during the events,do all the interviews,flashnews, say all results-I like it much.There is also a satellite brodcasting 30min every day-you have to pay for it,but all the videos will be here: racing(dot)skai(dot)gr/default(dot)asp?pid=27

Olsberg MSE really giving him great car for US champ and the team is supported by M-Sport Ford. So he has factory support, but I only meant the specification of both Fiestas are different. Please watch the Hirvonen at IRC Monte Carlo rallye 2010 and then Ken ´s Fiesta... Cars look different, sounds of the engine are different too. Prodrive can rent or sell the Impreza WRC, but its 2yrs old not really successfull one,without factory support. And Prodrive is working on new MINI for WRC..
