Actuall the 370z and the genesis coupe were released in 2008. The genesis was just only available in korea until 2009. But it was for sell in 08 like the Z.
Well yeah but the g37 is not just a g35 with a new motor they actually redid the whole car. It got all new everything. The whole platform was different. So yes it was a G something but it was completly different than the g35 so it really was a new car. So was the Z. They redid everything from the wheels to the gauges to the frame of the car itself.

@Mrkoolaidman90 If u didn't get your exhaust done, any cold air intake will give you only 2~5 extra horses max! sometimes it gives less horses than stock air box due to the heat sucked into the engine. and as far as i know, performance chip will make your car worse than ever. it simply tricks ecu to inject more fuels into the engine, but hyundai's original fuel setting is super rich in order to prevent knocking. To produce more HP, you will need to remap your ecu to make less fuel injected. FYI

My Tiburon makes 370 whp. You are right about the stock has no power at 170hp. As far as the 370 being a superior car it should be the loaded version is close to $41,000. You can get a loaded Genesis for under $30K. So put 11K in upgrades into the Hyundai and then its the superior car. Plus imo the Genesis looks nicer than the 370. Maybe bacause you see the 350s and 70s everywhere.

owned an 04 tiburon GT, bought off the lot with 8 miles on it for under 20K, so much fun, I wish I still had it, traded for the Santa Fe for more room, cant beat the bargain on Hyundais, IMO

Like the Elantra needed bushings to make the shifting feel better. If you want to feel the same power in an i4 tib drive an Elantra GT they have the same engine and drive train as the Tib.
actually I'm not a nissan or toyota fan, I actually prefer American cars. I've driven a 2.0T Track Genesis 6MT and I liked it. I thought that the handling was good and the steering feel was excellent. It's just the fact that I think that a true rwd sportscar should have more power. The 3.8 is fine, but it's overpriced. For 31K a Nissan 370Z would wipe the floor with it. I'm just saying, Tiburons might be good for what they are, but they are not sportscars at all.

I guarantee you that if you took a 370Z 6MT with a sport package vs a genesis 3.8 track it would be at least 2 seconds a lap quicker on Road Atlanta or Laguna Seca. Why do you think Hyundai chose to use a Nismo motor when they were in the process of developing their own? Because they knew that the Nismo motor would give them the best chance of winning in the mean while.

Sure the nismo engine has great potential, but the v6 they have in it now which is the hyundai is better and will out run the z. The Genesis 3.8 Track runs 0-60 in 5.7 and 14.2 in the quarter. That is such a big difference. The 370Z is the superior car. Ask any automotive journalist.

there's an ATP turbo kit for the 2.0T that can put down between 350 and 400hp and I saw a Genesis equipped with the kit run a 13.3 at 107 or something around the stock 370Z. Might I remind you that the 370Z Nismo makes 355 horsepower out of a n/a v6 that is SMALLER than the 3.8L Lambda yet makes more power. The 370Z can make 400 to 430hp with bolt ons. All you need to to make a 370 trackable is put competition brakes, slicks, and a cage. Does the Genesis have syncro rev match? No.
@wideopen704 test drove a new 370Z and that SYNCRO REV MATCH is amazing, every shift feel soo smooth compared to any manual trannys i've driven soo far.
I don't think you know what you're talking about. The VQ37VHR in the 370Z can take 450whp on stock internals. That's about the safe limit. It's a high-compression motor. No, it won't double the whp like the turbo genesis...but then again, the 3.8 genesis motor can't double its whp either on stock internals.
the 2.0t bassicaly has the 4B11 found in the ralliart/evo x. it was a joint effort making that engine you know. so thats why it can double it whp on stock internals. just saying. and iv been keeping my eye on all the 2010 turbo lineup and can't see why people don't talk more about the WRX 265, .1 seconds slower then the STI for 10k less. cant go wrong. thats according to DSPORT mag...
pretty sure the tib is stock, I have a 2005 SE V6 tib, bone stock, and thats what it sounds like. dunno where he's getting the 170 HP though, V6 tib stock is rated 171 HP and 182 lbs/tq.
nowhere in the vid can you make the determination that it's the 2.0T and not the 3.8. the turbo wouldn't pull that much ahead, unless naturally it had alot of goodies under the hood.

honestly, I remember having conversations with roomates in college in the late 90's. I felt that the Tiburon of the late 90's (though, not great car) showed flashes of what could be. I said then, in 5-10 years, Hyundai would be a bigger player in the automotive sceen. 10 years later, they are. Now, their quality in all phases may not have reached Toyota or Honda levels, but the gap has closed dramatically. Just give them kudos for trying harder to put a quality product out to the public! :)

Tiburon is not a supercar. Hyundai had that statement on their website. But anyway, the car looks good, feels sporty and is affordable hehehe....I like it. Hyundai also said that the Gen Coupe is not replacing the Tibby. Tiburon will be replaced in 2012 (or around), with a 2.0 turbo engine to compete with other cars on the same segment like the Golf Gti, Seat Cupra, and some others.
Genesis is slower then Nissan 370Z, Camaro V6 and Mustang GT. Speaking of MR2, i was just referring to boosted one. 215HP at wheels for MR2 2002+ generation is plenty.
Genesis is not competing with the 370Z, that is a roadster (2 seater), Genesis is a 2+2. They are not the same type of car. Regarding the Camaro V6 and Mustang GT, in terms of performance vs price, Genesis has been choosen as the best option, just check Motor Trend and Car and Driver magazines. American car makers must understand that making huge gas burner engines is not the way to do sport cars, They need to learn from Asian car makers, that's why GM is about to disappear.

Yes, they are similar...however, again, we return to the same situation PERFORMANCE VS PRICE, the Genesis is still a great option over the G37.....I mean if you dont care about money and want to pay over $45k for a name, some good performance and supposed "luxury", get a G37. If you are like others that wants great performance and good equipment, while keeping a nice style and not paying more than around $30k, Then buy a Genesis.
And BTW, with the other $10k or more you saved, you can do some minor performance tuning on the Genesis and make it more powerful and capable than the G37. You can check some videos on Youtube about tuned Genesis (350HP or more) killing AMGs and M3/M5.
Genesis is new in the market, and if you werent so "closed mind" and read more, you'd know Hyundai is coming with certified performance upgrades for the Genesis. Anyway, I dont believe in names, I believe in Quality, Performance and Value for the price I am paying. MR2 2002 doesn't come with turbo. This is turbo i installed Greddy and as I said 215HP at wheel. Everything else is stock. As I said Genesis, and Mustang GT can't do nothing against this car. It's not all about HP.

How can a MR2 be faster? A MR2 Spyder runs 14.7 seconds the Genesis Coupe runs 14.0 seconds flat so how can a MR2 be faster? My MR2 is not stock. It has greedy turbo and 215HP at wheel. Stock MR2 has only 138HP and as you can see stock MR2 with only 138HP is giving hard time for Genesis, Eclipse GT+, Ford GT.

Personally id rather have a tiburon....for one...RWD is a definite no no when living in New England...lol....2 who needs all this extra power to go some 150-200 mph...when are you ever going to go that fast anyway...unless your racing it...legally....plus you can get a tib for 2-20k and put that extra money into it to make it just as good if not better than the genesis. Hyundai just wants to get into the higher market cars and its a dumb move when most still see hyundais as a cheap car

My Tiburon makes 370 whp. You are right about the stock has no power at 170hp. As far as the 370 being a superior car it should be the loaded version is close to $41,000. You can get a loaded Genesis for under $30K. So put 11K in upgrades into the Hyundai and then its the superior car. Plus imo the Genesis looks nicer than the 370. Maybe bacause you see the 350s and 70s everywhere.

@wideopen704 I'm going to guess you are a nismo fan? or some prick toyota fan? Any car as of right now that is from hyundai needs a bit of tweeking off of the floor to make it "feel" right. Like the Elantra needed bushings to make the shifting feel better. If you want to feel the same power in an i4 tib drive an Elantra GT they have the same engine and drive train as the Tib.

actually I'm not a nissan or toyota fan, I actually prefer American cars. I've driven a 2.0T Track Genesis 6MT and I liked it. I thought that the handling was good and the steering feel was excellent. It's just the fact that I think that a true rwd sportscar should have more power. The 3.8 is fine, but it's overpriced. For 31K a Nissan 370Z would wipe the floor with it. I'm just saying, Tiburons might be good for what they are, but they are not sportscars at all.

That was WITH the Hyundai engine. with the shitty nismo engine it had before it didn't place in anything. If you are refering to your mustang, and a few others, only thing I see the stang doing decent in this year is Drift and even then it needed help.

I guarantee you that if you took a 370Z 6MT with a sport package vs a genesis 3.8 track it would be at least 2 seconds a lap quicker on Road Atlanta or Laguna Seca. Why do you think Hyundai chose to use a Nismo motor when they were in the process of developing their own? Because they knew that the Nismo motor would give them the best chance of winning in the mean while.

Sure the nismo engine has great potential, but the v6 they have in it now which is the hyundai is better and will out run the z. @Fallingup899 did you just hear what you said? 1 sec is nothing? Yeah, doubtful. 1 second is a huge difference in 0-60. So the 370Z runs from 0-60 in 4.7 and does the quarter in 13.3. The Genesis 3.8 Track runs 0-60 in 5.7 and 14.2 in the quarter. That is such a big difference. The 370Z is the superior car. Ask any automotive journalist.

Why is it that the 3.8 track can add an additional 100whp with stock internals with a simple bolt on app and the z's can't? there's an ATP turbo kit for the 2.0T that can put down between 350 and 400hp and I saw a Genesis equipped with the kit run a 13.3 at 107 or something around the stock 370Z. Might I remind you that the 370Z Nismo makes 355 horsepower out of a n/a v6 that is SMALLER than the 3.8L Lambda yet makes more power. The 370Z can make 400 to 430hp with bolt ons. All you need to to make a 370 trackable is put competition brakes, slicks, and a cage. Does the Genesis have syncro rev match? No.

I don't think you know what you're talking about. The VQ37VHR in the 370Z can take 450whp on stock internals. That's about the safe limit. It's a high-compression motor. No, it won't double the whp like the turbo genesis...but then again, the 3.8 genesis motor can't double its whp either on stock internals.

the 2.0t bassicaly has the 4B11 found in the ralliart/evo x. it was a joint effort making that engine you know. so thats why it can double it whp on stock internals. just saying. and iv been keeping my eye on all the 2010 turbo lineup and can't see why people don't talk more about the WRX 265, .1 seconds slower then the STI for 10k less. cant go wrong. thats according to DSPORT mag...

honestly, I remember having conversations with roomates in college in the late 90's. I felt that the Tiburon of the late 90's (though, not great car) showed flashes of what could be. I said then, in 5-10 years, Hyundai would be a bigger player in the automotive sceen. 10 years later, they are. Now, their quality in all phases may not have reached Toyota or Honda levels, but the gap has closed dramatically. Just give them kudos for trying harder to put a quality product out to the public! :)

Tiburon is not a supercar. Hyundai had that statement on their website. But anyway, the car looks good, feels sporty and is affordable hehehe....I like it. Hyundai also said that the Gen Coupe is not replacing the Tibby. Tiburon will be replaced in 2012 (or around), with a 2.0 turbo engine to compete with other cars on the same segment like the Golf Gti, Seat Cupra, and some others.

Genesis is not competing with the 370Z, that is a roadster (2 seater), Genesis is a 2+2. They are not the same type of car. Regarding the Camaro V6 and Mustang GT, in terms of performance vs price, Genesis has been choosen as the best option, just check Motor Trend and Car and Driver magazines. American car makers must understand that making huge gas burner engines is not the way to do sport cars, They need to learn from Asian car makers, that's why GM is about to disappear.

Yes, they are similar...however, again, we return to the same situation PERFORMANCE VS PRICE, the Genesis is still a great option over the G37.....I mean if you dont care about money and want to pay over $45k for a name, some good performance and supposed "luxury", get a G37. If you are like others that wants great performance and good equipment, while keeping a nice style and not paying more than around $30k, Then buy a Genesis.

And BTW, with the other $10k or more you saved, you can do some minor performance tuning on the Genesis and make it more powerful and capable than the G37. You can check some videos on Youtube about tuned Genesis (350HP or more) killing AMGs and M3/M5.

Genesis is new in the market, and if you werent so "closed mind" and read more, you'd know Hyundai is coming with certified performance upgrades for the Genesis. Anyway, I dont believe in names, I believe in Quality, Performance and Value for the price I am paying. That is why I dont like Overpriced Japanese brands like Toyota, pretending to be more refined and more luxury than a European, when they are not. C'mon, At least Hyundai keeps the brand, offers a lot car for a nice price.

Perhaps the best test for Genesis Coupe would be against Eclipse GT 2006+, Nissan 370Z and Mustang GT and i believe Genesis Coupe or Eclipse would come last. but not so much.

MR2 2002 doesn't come with turbo. This is turbo i installed Greddy and as I said 215HP at wheel. Everything else is stock. As I said Genesis, and Mustang GT can't do nothing against this car. It's not all about HP.

Dream on buddy. Genesis Coupe can't do a shit to MR2 2001+ generation equiped with Turbo on it running on stock parts with 210-215 HP at wheels. Genesis is fucking 3389lbs and MR2 is 2024lb and it makes huge fucking difference. I have nothing against Hyndai but Ford GT, Eclipse GT, and Nissan 350Z can't do a shit MR 2001+ equipped with Turbo as described above. I own Eclipse GT 2006 too and that would be a car to test Genesis against.

Weight, Weight distribution, HP, Torque, Ratio, transmission, stroke and all along the drive line has a factor on how fast a car can go. again pal a MR2 is weak sauce and it just get even more sad at the strip. Whatever dude, think what you want. I said what i had to say. Genesis is slower then MR2 2001+ gen w Turbo, we did racing from 0, 30, and 60 and Genesis V6 model could not keep up. It is fast car but enough for little MR2 w Turbo.

From what i could see Genesis is match for Eclipse 2006+ GT perhaps has slight edge, slower then new Nissan 370Z and as far as Ford GT fits some place there.

How can a MR2 be faster? A MR2 Spyder runs 14.7 seconds the Genesis Coupe runs 14.0 seconds flat so how can a MR2 be faster? Either your one hell of a driver compared to the dude that was driving the Genesis Coupe or your MR2 isnt stock. Do you have any mods because if you do then that explains things.

My MR2 is not stock. It has greedy turbo and 215HP at wheel. Stock MR2 has only 138HP and as you can see stock MR2 with only 138HP is giving hard time for Genesis, Eclipse GT+, Ford GT.
Three cars i mentioned are too heavy and it's killing them

Weight has alot to do with performace but there is more to it then just weight. Well, I know few people with tunned Tiburons, making way more HP at wheel than your MR2. So, dont think your MR2 is the best....it is OK, but not the best on the street.

Listen. First of all 215HP is at wheels. Secondly this is 2002 MR2 latest generation of MR2 and it doesn't matter if it's 215HP. Those 215HP are more then enough for this, this car is so light compared to Genesis Coupe. MR2 is also rwd stupid fuck. And yes i raced it. Local dealership had a car and they wanted to test, and we went to local race track and car was for four cars lenght behind me.

i test drove both the 2.0 T genesis and the 3.8 V6 genesis both track versions and there fast but i didnt want either cuz my assassin supercharged tib is faster :)
