  • Jack Black , you're awesome!

  • The newer one sounds more modern -- smoother, more scooped, bigger bottom. I'll bet most bedroom players would like it better. The original is midrangier, brighter, grittier, and smaller sounding. It would probably sound better in a mix because it wouldn't take up as much space. Actually by the end of the video he has them dialed in so they sound pretty similar. So maybe it comes down to cosmetics. In that case the original wins.

  • old one for the win

  • For a cleaner test: Run a separate signal to each, rather than chaining, + use an a/b switch. The 1 further down the signal chain's a gonna get coloured by the one (red knobby) b4 it. Just sayin'.

Gots me the original Expandora with the cool switches hidden in-slutty-side.

Also have a UK made, original Marshall Guv'nor.

Y'all can go aheed + be jealous as fuck now..

If you wanna hear one of my own ditties, with some Guv'nor in the mix- seek this oot: F'N B TOAST ( Destruction of the Boob Tube )

  • I liked the joe walsh part.

  • Thom Yorke uses the one nearest !

  • i like the guitar licks too

  • can someone plz tellme if this is really jack black talking? lol

  • @LumpPlump

    no!

  • The old version sounds better in my ears, and has TONS MORE MOJO !!

  • Look people......on his videos people get mad if you go "Jack Black?" but He has the pick of destiny in this video and in another one he has custom painted Lucha Libre things on his pedal.....Its Jack Black

  • @270Gmoney

    no!

  • the reissue is just as good as the original if you tweak. Way more sound options with the switches exposed.

  • chunky!

  • Jack Black?

  • i like the original..

  • 'white cable of love n fun' sounds cool haha

  • the 2 knobs on the left of the new version have to be used differently. than the reissue. the extra knob was added to take up the place of one of the switches. i have both, and the II is better. more transparent sound. the only thing i don't like is the switch. have 2 of those in case one breaks.

  • I want a white coily cable full of love and fun. :(

  • @OMGSpiderMonkey you can get one for like $25 from Bullet Cable, ther even endorsed by Paul Gilbert!

  • 3 nobbies, but three switchees!. I love your reviews keep up the great work.

  • RED KNOB EXP-2001 II - sounds louder and fuller, gain sounds crunchier, highs have a nice trebly sizzle to them

RECENT REISSUE - sounds more crisp, it has a nice tight bass sound and smooth sounding gain to it

***like always, it depends on what other gear you're using, how all of your gear complements/works against each other, what sound you're looking for, how it feels, and what you're willing to pay.***

  • greeeeeeeeeeat so0und!!!

  • where can we buy this thing?

  • The most recent reissue sounds quite good too but it seems the mix of switches and pots is a bit more complex to make it sound the same way.

  • I dig the skull ring and where did you cop it from??

  • @bossmxr1 crazy pigs design. Lodon store. Go to crazy pigs Its the large evil skull ring.

  • I appreciate all of your reviews. I have been working hard to get an amp and pedal combo to sound close to the Reverend Billy Gibbons. It hasn't been easy. All of the discontinued pedals for some reason or another. Not an easy task! *Any Recommendations?*

  • real Jb plays way more expressive and better

  • Haha, it sounds like him, but it is NOT Jack Black, I am 100% sure, keep guessin

  • ...by the way...the original Expandora sounds much better...imo

  • i hope to god you are kidding.

  • @govtmule13 No, his name is Eric Whorton.

  • dumbass. he's clearly not jack black, so put down the guitar before you hurt yourself.

  • @govtmule13 lol moron

  • I personally think the first version with the 3 knobbys and 3 switchies sound better.. More sounds can be achieved...

  • thx for all your videos, I like all of them a lot!!! Also your boots...And hey what is that guitar, something by gibson or what!^ eheheh

    Nice pedals BTW

  • Bro, its called a Les Paul... Its DEAD FAMOUS!! IMHO one of the best classic rock guitars ever...

  • Bro, it was ironic...maybe you didn't get it! I know what a Les Paul is!!!

  • i like red one best, both sound incredible great, turn blues jr. into old marshall plexi, thats what i hear, old saturated plexi, wonderful, just great both are incredible,,

  • Reissue is Great but, the 2 isn't to bad either. Nice A/B Job!

  • Should play some Reverend Billy licks as he is perhaps Bixonic's best known evangelist...

  • To me, the red knober sounds more compressed and smooth, which I quite like-

  • I love this pedal !

  • I love these pedals. I've got one of the old ones that looks like the new ones, but with the internal DIP switches. Does the red-knob one have those too? There was a kickass setting you could do that wasn't in the manual... you turn both the switches in the "off" position and it was disgusting. It would cut out on you for a second, sometimes it would oscillate like a fuzz factory. Great pedals.

  • I like the old exPan sound

  • Mongo like round pedal, make good noise for Mongo ears. Mongo have BIG ears. Mongo use big ears to hear. Mongo hear good. Mongo like GMD riffs. GMD riffs sound good in Mongo big ears.

  • Thank god is not Jack Black... Who the hell wants 15 minute solos?

  • I loved the THICK FUZZY sound of the reissue better... but that's just me

  • another great review!

  • I want I want I want I want

  • diggin the blues jr from below the border. let's drive that ole' chrysler down to mexico, boys!

  • I always thought they were really awful but wow, they sound great!

  • Grat video! You are great GMD!!!!!

    P.S.

Do you use iVideo for this vdeo?

  • Knobys and Switchys! GMD you crack me up and have the best pedal vids, hands down.

  • Great lead licks and riffs as always! Gear man dude ROCKS!

  • look at when he changes the knobs.

is that the pick of destiny?

  • No.

    He's not jack black.

  • chill man, i know hes not.

  • hahaha, I wish, I think he's rockin .88 tortex

  • @ihavenoname93 it totally is. i have the same pick.

  • @ihavenoname93 its jack black he probably got to keep the movie prop

  • @ihavenoname93 Yet another reason why I'm convinced this guy is Jack Black

  • @mrguano7

could tell you how to proof it's not jb

but i think you don't wanna know that - right!?!

  • I always wanted to see a good review of these pedals thanks gmd

  • someone out there needs to demo the billy gibbons set up with like six of these in line.

  • agree funny you know that too lol great pedals !!! great demo !!

  • Probably not fair...but I gotta go with the original on this one. Might be an easier comparison if both models had the same control layout...but I still gotta go with the original.....maybe....

  • non-reissue kickass

  • WOW Great Pedal!!

  • i liked 'em both imo

i would take either one of them anyday :)
