If we love our children and want to improve their education we'd cut all funding to public schools and higher education.
Privatization of education has been proven to be successful where the current system has failed.
Our public funds, your tax dollars and mine, shouldn't be going to support one another's beleifs. Give parents their funds to educate their kiddos properly rather than throw that money away into the failed public education system.
OBSOLETE THE NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND!!!! Elect a president like John Edwards who understands how it is cheating education and dumbing down our nations children and in turn our future as a nation! Raise the bar, vote for higher educational standards - Vote John Edwards!
no child left behind doesn't work. hte only way to stop minority childrend being left behind is by giving them a head start at home before they even reach school, this is a job that can be partially done by the federal government but can only be fully completed by the parents, parents need to start taking resposibility for their kids. Oh and schools should not be funded on real estate taxes thats just keeping the rich richer.
Accountability yes, but to whom? The real goal of public education should be to guide young people to become responsible CITIZENS and to give them the skills and training they need to become PRODUCTIVE in this society. It isn't about whether they can take a test, but whether they come out being able to compete in a global economy. Why aren't we investing more in our country's success?
It amazes me that people hate equality for all Americans and EQUAL Edcational opportunites for our children.."This is crazy!" to quote my Presitencal Canidate John Edwards!
whoa whoa whoa so if you give money to those schools that fail to make pass failing students... doesnt that encourage schools to fail students to get more money???
We are not going to see schools making their kids stupid just to get some more $ for books. The way it is now, if a school has no materials and their kids fail, they get less $, so they have even less for the next year. This leads to forever failing schools. Schools that do well continue to get way more $. This has lead to all the inner city schools (high minority) getting no $ and all the white suburban schools getting tons of $. It is a way to give the rich kids more $ and the poor less.
Parents need to take a more active role in their child's education- bottom line. From the moment they are born. Too many parents think schools are babysitters & miracle workers. If parents don't make an effort from birth, the child will not realize the necessity of a good education.
Start teaching your children, Mom & Dad! Quit dumping your dysfunctional spawn on the dedicated teachers of our country! Teach them to be good citzens, & they will be good students, in turn!
Every time I read something from someone like you, it makes me want to scream. I see the teachers in my school, including myself, give... give... and give... to their students. You throw that word lazy around but you don't come home with an aching back and a headache. Or a big box full of paperwork. You don't come home and crash on the couch to be awaken several hours later with a lightbulb of an idea to try yet something else with this troubled child. I do though. I am a public school teacher.

sometimes that "dysfunctional" spawn is anything but. It's just the teacher being to lazy to deal with it.

Not very often! Usually, it's the parents that don't bother instilling common sense in their child- long before they ever hit pre-school!
