Mourning and beating of the breast are strongly equated with one another in the Bible. As an example, Luke's Gospel describes the gathering of mourners - breast beaters - for Jesus in the following passage:

NEED HELP! I just got home an hour ago from day 40 of Ashura on Saturday the 14th day of Safar and as I write this I think I may have done permanent damage to my chest not from slaping it with open hands, but with a Turbah in my clenched fists for about 2 hours.My chest is black and blue,however I am having pain inside my chest where my heart is and it hurts to breath in.I feel weak and dizzy and am worried I have overdone it. Is this normal? Im not scared to die but for leaving my wife a widow.

The term Shia was first used in Quran for Shia of Musa (Friends of Musa). This term is repeatedly used by Holy Prophet for friends of Hazrat Ali as Shia of Ali. The great companions of Prophet Muhammad like Hazrat Salman Farsi, Ammar Yasir, AbuZar Ghaffari, Meeqad, Abdullah Ibn-e-Masood, Abu Huzaifa (RA) were all Shia of Ali.

@TwinGirlss Crying and exhibiting grieve for innocents and victims is the tradition of Prophets. Prophet Adam cried for his innocent son Abel (Habeel) and He cursed Kabeel (cain) for his crime. He wept for a year and he used to cry every year until he died. After the death of Adam His son Prophet Shees (Haibat-ullah) followed the tradition of Adam and used to cry for his innocent brother Habeel (Abel).

He cried for 25 years and he exhibited his grief and anger against this injustice. His extent of crying made him blind. There is not single verse in Quran where Yaqoob was condemned because he was crying and exhibiting grief. If exhibition of grief was deviation from Islam then Prohet Yaqoob must be condemned

This is exactly what he describes in the book. How wonderfully beautiful! I wish one day I get to witness this first hand. NEED HELP! I just got home an hour ago from day 40 of Ashura on Saturday the 14th day of Safar and as I write this I think I may have done permanent damage to my chest not from slaping it with open hands, but with a Turbah in my clenched fists for about 2 hours.My chest is black and blue,however I am having pain inside my chest where my heart is and it hurts to breath in.I feel weak and dizzy and am worried I have overdone it. Is this normal? Im not scared to die but for leaving my wife a widow.

The term Shia was first used in Quran for Shia of Musa (Friends of Musa). This term is repeatedly used by Holy Prophet for friends of Hazrat Ali as Shia of Ali. The great companions of Prophet Muhammad like Hazrat Salman Farsi, Ammar Yasir, AbuZar Ghaffari, Meeqad, Abdullah Ibn-e-Masood, Abu Huzaifa (RA) were all Shia of Ali.

Omar Ib ne-Saad a Kufi who was chosen as commander to fight Hazrat Imam Hussain by corrupt emperor YAZID Ib ne mawiyya was son of Saad Ibn-e- Abi Waqas. He was never been considered as Shia because Hazrat Saad Ib-ne Waqas was friend of Abu Bakar, Omar, Usmaan,Talha and Zubair and they all demonstrated their hate for Imam Ali at different occasions.

He wept for a year and he used to cry every year until he died. After the death of Adam His son Prophet Shees (Haibat-ullah) followed the tradition of Adam and used to cry for his innocent brother Habeel (Abel).

He cried for 25 years and he exhibited his grief and anger against this injustice. His extent of crying made him blind. There is not single verse in Quran where Yaqoob was condemned because he was crying and exhibiting grief. If exhibition of grief was deviation from Islam then Prohet Yaqoob must be condemned

I am recently reading a very nice book, "The Ayatollah Begs to Differ", where the author Hooma Majd talks about the Muharram celebration he witnessed in Yazd. This is exactly what he describes in the book. How wonderfully beautiful! I wish one day I get to witness this first hand. I am a hind too but I really enjoy reading and understanding more of islamic cultures around the world and Islam itself. Thank you for posting this video :)

As we have some extremist Muslims nowadays in Saudia and Afghanistan after the 50 years of death of the Prophet such people took over the government and the grandson of the Prophet, Hussain stood against them. They were so brutal that they killed him and in this song his sister is singing that after your death they have mad me a prisoner and I can't even cry on your death.
